Eating Cleaner No Longer Works | Now What?

  • Reaching 15% body fat or lower often starts with changing habits like eating clean. When you make swaps for foods that are cleaner you are simply create a caloric deficit. You could also just reduce total calories but keep those same foods.
Eating clean has its' benefits for sure. Those foods are usually higher in volume, help with satiety and loaded with vitamins and minerals.
What do you do when eating clean no longer works?
How much sugar can you eat and still lose fat? As much as you want if it fits your daily goals, and i have been using high sugar foods for years.
We need to remove the idea that one diet is best for all, instead we need to use an approach where calories are the focus, macros are in the proper ranges and food enjoyment is a consideration!

Paul love your stuff. On day 8 of a 30 day fast. Already down from 263 to 250. Only 5-11 i am 52 and was wonder if you knew if taking Lion's Mane breaks a fast thanks. Keytones 2.0 mmo/l this am. blood glucose is 70. Feeling better than i have in since i was in my 30. I found out the key to this is you must take your electrolytes. You will feel like crap if you don't. Found this out on the 4th day energy wasn't there. Took some electrolytes and boom energy was and still been through the roof. This may not be for everyone but right now loving it.

You can most definitely enjoy things like carbs and sugar if you're dialed in with calories and macros. I'm currently around about 7% body fat and visible veins over all of my abs, even lower abs, and vascular with visible striations in multiple muscles. I have a root beer float every single night as a daily reward I enjoy. And I'm talking regular vanilla ice cream and A&W root beer. Not some super health oriented ice cream and root beer. In in excellent shape though. As long as the majority of your food and habits are healthy, having a very small allotted percentage for a treat and still looking great and being healthy is possible. Not to toot my own horn, but my physique looks more shredded than a lot of pro athletes I see.

I think most people underestimate their actual body fat percentage. At 12-15% you are already lean.

    Absolutely awesome message.
One thing that trips me up is just getting used to the little nagging stuff that requires more mobility and flexibility work over a period of time. I fight through the stuff that is minor, but knowing when to rest and recover and what kind of signs to heed from your body is something I’ve had to learn. From lifting, to types of cardio, going barefoot / zero drop shoes, etc - always something that is pushing your body will require some understanding of thresholds and interpreting what your body is telling you.
The ugly side of ignoring this can be a lack of proper energy, or straight up injuries.

i agree 100% with everything you said. The hardest thing is being single and going out for dinners, drinks, etc. and trying to maintain a certain caloric intake. Never mind trying to exercise the next day after having a few too many tito's. The name of the game is discipline.

The suffering brings with it an opportunity to win. With every win, no matter how small can propel you even further. Once there, looking back is a reminder of all you are capable of, which fuels you to keep going. Even if you fall off, knowing this is enough to get you back on again.

What to do when your scale weight won't go down much. I used to always be in great shape. School athlete, college athlete and over 10 years of military service and I'm finding now that I'm 42 my weight has gone up.
I'm 6'2 and about 254lbs. I've been lifting for about 23 years now.
I've been ordering fitness meals and training 6 days a week with one day off where I have a cheat meal and some snacks to shock my system which always worked for me.
I gained the weight from a injury and having a family member suddenly get killed. I'm over the injury and not emotionally eating. It's like my metabolism is turned off or something.
I've only lost like 5 pounds in a month.
I can normally lose that a week as work my ass off in the gym with good eating.
Any advice would be greatly appreciate. Never been in this situation. Starting to think it could be my T levels but who knows.

My weight loss and weight gain journey has been up and down for decades. I finally started focusing on myself since September 2023. I started at 110kgs iam 1.87meters tall and was 22% body fat. Iam now down to 93kgs and 12% body fat, but I really thought I would be alot leaner at 12%. I still have some lower back fat and some belly fat. I can see my top 4 abs but i was expecting to look alot better at 12%. Can u advise.
