- www.ProCPR.org - Adult CPR is performed by checking for patient responsiveness, abnormal breathing, and contacting emergency services. Next, check for a pulse, and begin CPR if the patient has no pulse. Perform 30 compressions at a rate of 100 per minute and a depth of 1.5 to 2 inches in the center of the chest. These 30 compressions should be followed by two rescue breaths, and repeat the cycle until an AED or emergency services arrives. Video created by ProTrainings.

Guys remember that in real life, you need to do the compressions a lot deeper than the guy did them in this video. In the video, the 'patient' was still alive, so they weren't doing the compressions that deep, but in real life, GO A LOT DEEPER THAN THIS. Otherwise, they won't have much impact.
Crucial point Mr Gentleman. Look at the height of their chest and push down a third of their torso height. Its more than most people think.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Thank you for this. I allegedly saved my mom's life this weekend by doing CPR until the paramedics and wagons arrived. There were probably 3-4 minutes of compressions before they got to my mom's house (excellent response time). I've never been "certified" [or I don't think I've been], but nearly 3 decades ago, my mum had us do swimming lessons through Junior Lifeguard and they teach it to kids there. Then, in 8th grade health class (around 27 years ago), they kinda taught it. Finally, I was a volunteer firefighter for about 3 years and in order to be a "Firefighter I", there was a first aid aspect (tho again, I don't think I was certified).
Otherwise, through what I speculate is decent public service announcement type messaging, I half-remember randomly learning to keep your elbows straight, that if you did it right it'll very likely cause physical pain if the person recovers (showing you need to use force), and that you stick a finger down the throat first to clear it and then try to put a pillow or something under the neck to open the airways.
After what transpired this weekend, I feel like it's reasonable to work a basic CPR training into a high school curriculum. Again, as far as I can recall, my source of knowledge about it was received in a scattered way over decades, so the messaging and to a limited degree educational efforts reached me, at least.
I agree 100% it should be taught in schools. As a lifeguard I know this stuff but it could be so valuable to teach it to everyone in schools because there is not always going to be a lifeguard/first responder there to help in an emergency

Fine print from a previous trainer:
If chest compressions are done correctly, the CPR provider will likely break some ribs.
If CPR does result in the victim regaining consciousness - which rarely happens - they first vomit all over themselves.
CPR is not performed to "wake" the victim up. Even though it's possible, they're not likely to recover from that alone. CPR is given to BUY TIME for the victim before EMT arrives on the scene.
"I didn't save his life; I only helped him sustain it for a while," a newspaper quoted the guy who gave me CPR when I was 15.

TIGHT AS A 🤭🤭 BOY DON'T GET NERVOUS
One thing that I found shocking is that it feels and often sounds like your are cracking their ribs. But don't worry, the cracking sounds are usually connective tissue not bone, and even if you do fracture a bone it is worth saving their life. Keep doing the compressions to keep the blood pumping through their body which keeps the organs alive as long as possible.
So press hard and not worry? I , if I ever have to perform CPR, press hard during compressions
@@kmg7640 correct. Note that in this video, he is using a live subject, so he is not pressing as hard or deep as you would in a real situation. If you are ever in the unfortunate position of having to do CPR, press HARD. You may break bone or tissue. This is normal and, while painful for the subject, may be required to save their life.

A couple of months ago I got a call from a neighborhood across the street telling me that her husband had been unconscious for a half hour and she had been pouring ice water on him to wake him up. I told her I would be right over. When I saw him it was obvious that he wasn't breathing at all. I told her to call 911. The operator worked me through doing the compressions, counting 4-3-2-1, which I could barely hear because the wife wouldn't stop screaming. The paramedics arrived quickly and did an incredible job, attached some kind of contraption to him that did deep compressions. It was an amazing thing to watch. I was standing outside the bedroom, but heard one of them say "major heart attack" and later one said "slight pulse". They took him to the hospital and he survived. Later their son told me that the doctor told him that the compressions I did had saved his life. But the doctor also told him there was something odd that they couldn't explain. When his father arrived he was very cold and his shirt was wet. His temperature was only 90 degrees. I decided not to say anything about the ice water resuscitation treatments his mother had administered.

Thank you. I took CPR class but wanted to watch to make sure I remember everything
On compressions get on your knees, position yourself directly over the chest and lock your arms with hands in place one over the other fingers out. feel your way with the first push and adjust pressure to get a good compression. rock your upper body to compress. Don't push with your arms or hands, let your upper body rocking motion do the pushing. You can last longer otherwise your muscles will lock up 2 minutes in. I've done 6 minutes alone. Practice and you will do fine.

UPVOTE FOR VISABILITY!
Please note that the compressions should be deeper - at least 5cm or two inches.
Also, the rescuer should remove any thick clothing.
Unfortunately, these are mistakes I made myself.
Just to add that the pushes can very easily break even the ribcage and often do. This is kind of normal and means you are doing it with enough force to make a difference.
can you break his chest cage if you press too hard? or if its a women? their bones are kinda weaker
@@Thedevilhealer better to break a rib than lose a life.
I learned in my CPR class that the sternum should break within the first 5 pushes in order for it to be effective. I was told that it is common for ribs to be broken after a person had received CPR in a real life situation. Also, we had a simulator dummy, and let me tell you that when the sternum is not broken, it is way harder than when it is broken. You should break the sternum in order to reach inner organs and heart.
@@Thedevilhealer it happens to all humans, the bones density doesn't matter here,it's the force of compressions that matters

Dear Sir:
THANK YOU so very much! I needed a quick refresher course on CPR and what I wanted to really see is someone with a real body so that I could see how it would look from a real human perspective. Those dummies just weren't real enough for me to keep in my head. I being a teacher needed the order from beginning to end. I can't thank you enough for having your guy body there as a better visual for a person like myself. Also, thank you for the end of your video for the QUICK review. Just the reason I went to your video. Please if you can mention what to do should you not have your gloves on scene and your mouth piece, 10 to one you will not have those items on hand for people like me in the real world who are on a school campus and you never know when your students will have situations like this such as the play yard or finding them in the gym etc. etc. I would like to see whether you pinch the nose still and mouth to mouth. Anyway, I only have wonderful and positive feedback for you in this video and I truly appreciate it.
If there's no pulse, they're already dead so don't worry about not having gloves, just like you wouldn't worry about breaking ribs. Mouth to mouth usually isn't necessary at all, but if you think it is, you don't need a mouth piece.
Everyone watching this video is doing a good thing. I thank you
This was so helpful! Thank you 💕
I randomly felt the need to find out where to place my hands in the event I needed to perform cpr. I’m worried about breaking ribs or not getting the correct depth to compress the heart.

Fact is, majority of the time , if someone (non - emt) is dealt with a circumstance like this , we dont have access to gloves or respiratory mask, it is still a helpful video in regards to what is necessary, but if were dealt with this in our own home or somewhere without immediate attention of professional medical assistance, it is expected of us regular citizens to have to take action.

I remember being told most of the time ribs are broken when you do cpr. You have to have a good amount of force.
I didn't get this part am I need to push with my full force or whatt??
@@aisee2879 yeah! This makes it sound like it would need to apply more force on broken ribs.
I’m not a doctor but that doesn’t sound like good advice.
@@Wetknees Its extremely common for the sternum to fracture or even break completely whilst performing CPR!
Fractured or broken bones are better than dying. If the sternum breaks, you will notice that the compressions become less Is strenuous. So that means that you wont have to push as hard anymore . Still push with enough force to compress the chest down 2 inches at least, least.
Which is why many times it does not save people especially if unwitnessed.

i know this is a silly question but when you push down the chest very hard it won’t cave in right.. i mean like breaking any chest bones?
It probably will break, yes. But proper chest compressions / CPR comes first, a few broken ribs are the least of the patient's worries.
Hey this is more informative than the song people keep talking about
Congrats 👏 you are really a responsible citizen if you've searched for it.
I wanted to learn how to rescue a human but instead whole video I was watching that dead body. Is he really dead or it is doll man?
Is he a real human?
Probably a real person becoz the rescuer didn't really do chest compressions on him (atleast 2 inches deep) and did not give breaths either....
Are you stupid or something? You can literally see the chest and stomach area rise and fall the entire video and there's a close up where his eye moves. Look at the eyelashes twitch at 2:02 Its not a dead body... Have you ever even seen a dead body? They dont look like that. If they are dead the color of their skin changes they look more of a blue color and pale from lack of circulation of the blood in the body. Its ridiculous I have to point this stuff out how high is your IQ not to even bother to look at the chest or stomach or see his eyes moving?
I sincerely hope you never have to perform CPR on anyone if you cant tell if a live breathing person in a video isn't a dummy.

are focused on the fact that their beloved human isn’t in this body shell that doesn’t look or feel like that loved one **should** feel. Bodies just feel **wrong**, because they’re DEAD.
