James on location! 🤩🙌
Indeed. I'm throughly enjoying the ride. Universal Presentation up next.
@geekinwithJamesHancock Thank u, really enjoyed this vid! 🤟
Great work. I really enjoyed your recounting of your experience. I don’t live in the US so I doubt I will ever go to such an event.
You never know. If you get the itch to do some gambling in Vegas, you could always merge both experiences into one. Thanks for watching!
Memories of Murder is awesome! Some of the most epic drop-kicks ever captured on film. XD
Sounds right up my alley.
James! You absolutely must see Memories of Murder. Finally got around to watching it last year and it's beautiful.
Very curious how an independent cough NON Campea cough POV on this lmao Thanks James
Yeah, I gave up on his commentary a long time ago. I only watched his channel for Robert Meyer Burnett but I much prefer just watching RMB's own channel.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock He's good on some things but for the most part Campea is not worth the time. I used to like RMB but he kept censoring me on his chat. I should confess I'm a Snyder bro... so yeah we're welcome over there but Rob at least has some decent deep cuts when discussing scifi I'll give him that
Continued success
LET THE SPICE FLOW!!!
I'm so glad more original films are being made. I think we're all fed up with the dogshit content we've been having the past decade. I'm especially excited for Mickey 17!
Bong Joon Ho is the real deal. Hopefully he'll keep making flicks for many more decades to come.
I’m glad that Furiosa’s preview didn’t disappoint. I also wasn’t sold after the trailer, so it’s good to hear that it has a lot more to offer.
Anya Taylor Joy got completely savage in the clips that I saw and according to George Miller, Chris Hemsworth's character was written to be the most charismatic psychopath imaginable. Could be a saucy combo.
It's George, it's all in his hand and in the hands of those he trusts, not some whatever business man, that does make a huge difference. The trailers surely was made with materials that was not finished yet.
James, you are always gorgeous, I don't care what anyone says. Thank you so much for your content and insightful information regarding art and culture!
Thank you sir! One of these days I'll show up with some real black eyes and see if anyone can tell the difference.
Very looking forward to The War of the Rohirrim.
Same. Fingers crossed they really deliver something special. It hurt my feelings when they showed no footage at all.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock I understand. I'm very curious as to what the tone of the film is going to be. I'd like something raw and savage, it'd be a cool contrast to TLOTR trilogy. I also hope it has its own style and a great story.
Keep up the passion James.
Vegas baby! Never bet against George Miller in Mad Max mode or Costner in Western mode. Open Range 🤌
It was a genuine treat to hear Miller speak about his work. Lifelong fan.
You've got to watch Memories of Murder -- it's definitely his magnum opus.
Always looking and sounding awesome, James!
I'm thinking I might just have to do the deep dive on his entire career before Mickey 17 hits us next January.
I think Bong Joon Ho's best movie is The Host. Awesome Kaiju thriller.
Good call! I saw it many years ago and definitely need to revisit it.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock It holds up. the initial monster attack is still incredible.
memories of murder is great i bought the criterion bluray on a blind buy after watching parasite highly recommend .given its subject matter there were some scenes that had me laughing hard
I'll definitely be watching before Mickey 17. I've been a total slacker when it comes to watching his earlier movies.
So glad Everything is going well for you in Vegas!!😊🎬👏🏾💚🐲
It has been a hoot and a half. See you at Sportsbook at 6:30!
Good video, James.
Looking forward to Horizon. Costner understands Westerns, and even if he doesn't deliver something on the level of Dances With Wolves, I'm sure he'll give us something close to Open Range.
I still need to see Open Range but I’ll definitely hunt it down before this Summer’s double feature.
Looking forward to a Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas type article. 😎
Sadly, I’ve been as well behaved as a Saint but I’ll try and do something newsworthy in the next 48 hours. I love that book.
As Joker goes, Todd Phillips has to make his Empire Strikes Back. He got a lot of flack for paying homage to a film style from 40 years ago while tipping his hat to a director who’s influenced him. Lucas did the same by paying homage to a then 40 year-old film style (Flash Gordon serials) while tipping his hat to a director who influenced him (Kurosawa). Difference is, Lucas wasn’t behind the wheel of Empire and Phillips is. He’ll either make it darker (if possible), up the stakes with new characters, etc. or hit all the same beats as the first and create a carbon copy sequel. Being a musical, however, there’s already a good chance he’ll up his game. I enjoy his “villain’s journey” tale so far. Hoping the lightning strikes again.
I'll be rooting for him all the way. I think there's a very chance it'll be the biggest film of the Fall.
@@lovecraft7676 Agreed. Definitely hoping to see another billion in box office.
@@CRM-114 So fill it in with a sequel of your choice that surpassed the original.
@@CRM-114 That works.
@@brodyschumdon't think Mad Max 2 fits your analogy lol, which I thought was pretty apt btw.
Lionsgate’s big announcement was the Michael movie. 1b movie predicted
If Costner does it right...these Horizon movies will be best on Imax...
That's the plan for me. IMAX all the way. But if the first movie is a mess, it's going to be brutal for the sequel later in the summer.
James, you MUST watch Memories of a Murder. It is one of the best movies of all time, and it also has one of the best scores of all time. You should watch it when you have spare time and make a video on it afterwards.
I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews. I’m all over it.
Did we get any news on Nosferatu or HEAT 2?
Thank you, James for posting this, now I've got a list of films I'm even more up for seeing tn the next year.
Thanks, Fred! The coolest trailer I've seen so far is for Robert Egger's remake of Nosferatu which I'll be tackling tomorrow.
Nice coverage James💚🇬🇧🌱 looks like you're hanging a blast!
Definitely planning on making this a new annual tradition.
Good to hear about Furiosa.
Bummer you missed the Lionsgate presentation but I understand you can’t get to everything.
Thank you for the awesome coverage & videos as always!
Much obliged! Got another video coming tomorrow about the Universal presentation I saw this evening.
I'm down with a comic-con for movies, sounds like a great scene.
War of the Rohirrim, is that when the Westfold fell?
James having to explain guys I'm transitioning from young n sexy to silverfox sexy chill its all good
lmao
Yes people age - some people are silly
One of these days I'll show up with a real black eye and everyone will just assume I'm aging very rapidly.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock That or you and Jake G got into it over your review lol
I was looking forward to what Mr. Gyll was going to do... still gonna give it a try but sadly if we want great 1980s fix I guess sigh wait for Maxxxine I guess lol
james! Have you seen Fallout on Prime? Curious about your thoughts on it. Xo
The Crow is the new (2024) Salems Lot? Hope not
I think Big Fish was great and that came out in the early 2000
I was really hungover when I saw it and had to leave the theater but one of these days I'll give it a second chance.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock haha, it’s a beautiful film
Thank you for the long-winded and very much appreciated summary.
Love that you went to the Film Threat meet up, next evening they will host Nerdrotic and Geeks and Gamers!!!🙂❤️
Had a blast last night. I rsvp’ed for tomorrow night as well but I might get waylaid with my Civil War review.
@@lovecraft7676 very courious about that movie, will enjoy your review, but have fun!!!
James you look great, blame it on the shitty lights of “Vegas” 😉🥃
Yeah, the hotel lights aren't cutting it but maybe I'll bring a little lighting kit next year. I've loved the experience and will definitely be returning.
I know you said you’ve never seen Memories of Murder I highly recommend it also if you haven’t seen it either Mother! By him to is also very good to if you haven’t seen that too.
I’ll definitely be doing the deep dive on his entire career before Mickey 17 hits the screen.
Remind me never to stand to close when you're disappointed. 💩 🤢 😂
It can get ugly, lol
#buffettlinefactor Skip them The Knicks been covering 😮
When I was a kid western movies were on the decline. But still were kind of big. TV shows like bonanza on reruns back in those days. Back Then John Wayne & then later Clint Eastwood were the biggest western movie stars. The funny thing is that,, other than the ‘Long Ranger & Tonto’. Whenever playing Cowboys and Natives/Indians,, everybody no matter the race of the Kid,,, Everyone wanted to be a Native/Indian. Most every kid wanted to play Tonto lol I always wondered why. Given that the movies were mostly based around making the cowboy/rough rider the star of the movie. While depicting the Natives/Indians as the villains. All of the gun battles, fist fights and the love lives of the Rough Riders,, or now known as Cowboys (from what I understand, the original word cowboy,, was given to black or African descent men. By racist and oppressive white men. With their bad habit of referring to grown black men,, as boys. Then Hollywood came along & they liked the word ‘cowboys’,, and started referring to white men as Cowboys. If that information isn’t true,, I am more than happy to be corrected ) living in the west at that time. But as I grew older and began to understand what really happened at that time in history. How ruthless and and cruel these European settlers were. Not to mention mass genocide and the stealing of the land from the native people. Once I understood what really happened back then,, avoiding the Hollywood propaganda and their insistence on romanticizing of that time in American history. I feel good in my choice to always play/Be the native. Because that’s who I am. Never desired to be the oppressor. Although some people do. Still to today. Although I think Kevin Costner is one of the best actors out there (I do think it would be great if Kevin Costner would make a Mr. Brooks part 2). I have no desire to watch oppressors romanticize their exploitations.
Haha, it's just that you're lit from one side, so the shadowed side of your face looks a bit like a black eye
Yes going to say the same thing, it is the lighting👍🔦💡
One of these days, I might have to do a video with a genuine black eye just to see if anyone can tell the difference. Now I just need to look for someone who hates my videos to slug me, lol.
He’s decaying like King Viserys 😂
People who get bent out of shape about the whole "nepo baby" thing very much need to get a grip.
Since the beginning of time kids have been invited to follow in the family trade, if you can't get on board with that then I suggest you never hire a tradesman with "& Son" on his van or buy from anyone with that on their shop either. Sad.
Micky 17 sounds exactly like Altered Carbon
I saw both seasons of Altered Carbon, but this flick looks like it is going for a very different tone. Part of the dark humor is watching Robert Pattinson dying repeatedly in increasingly gruesome ways, almost like Groundhog Day.
