Just picked up my 2020 today. Instantly one of my favorite bikes of life. The engine is so fun at any speed and it’s agile as a kitten. Makes you feel like you’re going much faster than you are in a good way. On the awful Texas roads the dirtbikish suspension just eats up the bad tarmac. Such a good bike. An unappreciated gem IMHO. Nice review Yammie!!
@Patrick-papi It’s still fantastic. 22000 miles on it and still super fun. Had my regular maintenance done on the bike and it’s been super reliable. Would recommend, would buy again.
THIS THING IS AN ABSOLUTE RIOT!! “cruising at 46mph”
Maniac! Lol
He's talking about the experience - not the speed in that exact moment. Ever rode a motocross bike - it's a riot at 46mph. I get your point though.
@@bharris0128 yeah, was just funny per the context. I own a hyper so I get it lol
It's sooo flickable.... riding in a straight line. It's BONKERS .....hardly moving
I always knew Yammie was always a cover and he was born The DucciN00b
ZERO problems with my 2016 Hypermotard SP since brand new. Funnest 6K miles of my ~200K miles riding motorcycles 😎👍🏻
Sean FromTX did you got biscottis tho?
Not the same at all but I did buy a 15' 821 hyper as my first street bike. It's served me incredibly well and feels familiar to my dirt experience. Even though you're saying, and it might be the case, that this is a substantially upgraded and improved version of my 821 it still gives you that grin that you got while riding it. There's something about these bikes that are unlike any other.
Hey yammie could you do a review of the Husqvarna 701 supermoto? I feel like you'd have fun with it.
Would love a comparison review
I own a 2018 939 SP... I have 4 motorcycles, & it is my favorite... if I
could only own ONE bike... it would be a Hypermotard SP...❤️😍❤️
Thanks for the pure sound clips on the end! ❤️🎶🥰
thanks for your video , nice i liked your comment ,, not a first bike , that for sure , 2 years back stepped up from a 150cc to a 939sp and still alive for now , here in Europe you need a small town bike , but come weekends here comes the beast.
unlimited power and so much fun wife hates me still, Ducati has nailed it , for fun
really enjoyed the video yammie, i think i'll still go w the ktm 690 smc r. i have to test ride this bike though!
I own the 939. The throttle is catchy during roll on, but this isn't a cruiser... I grew up on motorcycles but this was the first one I've owned. What a blast
JGandolfi the first bike is a Ducati??? Good choice my friend 👌
It's not just that, it's lurchy and unpredictable at 10-20% throttle after roll-off. It's doesn't do what you expect it to. It feels a bit artificial and confused.
@@yammienoob Heard a reply that the sketchy throttle could be remedied with a couple of spacers. This makes no sense for an electronic system, much more likely to be a software issue in the FI or the throttle itself. My take on traction control, ABS, and power modes is that they are like CGI in movies, when it's working properly you don't know it's there. I have them all on my 790 Duke and have locked the rear tire under hard braking and broken it loose under hard acceleration, all while traction and braking were supposedly under electronic control. These systems are not infallible.
@@yammienoob Can't say I disagree there. But you can change the riding mode and the "ride by wire" eases off. I've wanted to throw some termi's on mine for years but $2000+... Maybe someday :) Love your content man.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOREVERRRR... YEEESSSSS I LOVE ITT😻😻
I also have a Desert Sled but am on the verge of transitioning to this bike. Fills some of the power void in my heart for my sold S1000RR and Super Duke R while maintaining the dirt bike riding position. Since I had an 899 Panigale as well back in he day, guess you can officially call me a Ducatista.
Got me a 2021 last year. My 2nd bike coming from a Sportster. Amazingly fun. I popped a slight power wheelie shifting into 4th gear at full throttle by accident the other day.
Been daily driving it since gas prices been going up. Way more fun in back and city roads. You can turn the electronics all the way up and just drive everywhere at full throttle and it'll keep the front wheel down and the tires from losing traction on loose terrain accelerating or decelerating.
The quick shifter got me spoilt too. I only pull the clutch for stopping.
The other thing I noticed was your rev limiter going orange which usually only happens during break in or when the bike is cold for me. Unless it was the mode you were riding in.
In 4th? I have a '21 SP and it will power wheel in 2nd only if you transfer the weight back while the power hits. No chance in 3rd and definitely not in 4th. No complaints though - I love it. I don't even think a SuperDuke will 4th gear power wheelie.
@@bharris0128 it hasn't happened since so maybe I hit a crest in the road just right or something. IDK if me not weighing very much has anything to do with it. Maybe I'll see if I can setup my GoPro and record it.
Maybe I'll find out I was wrong and it actually happened in 3rd. I don't live near the same hilly twisties anymore either. So can't go back to the same spot.
Just got one on Tuesday and I am in love! Great bike!
The brakes on this beast are it's best feature if you ask me
"This is just an absolute Goon bike." LOL...love it!
& the RapidBike EVO autotuner & the RapidBike up/down quickshifter, REALLY smooth out that “all on” feel from the ride by wire... highly recommend
Holy crap! It’s like Vivaldi’s Violence Concerto in FU Major. 😎 I love it!
This is gonna be my next bike here in PHILIPPINES. Love it.
Mr. Termignoni passed away recently, a nice video him and his company would be sweet.
Test rode a Monster 1200S back to back with a Hypermotard 950 (non-SP), and man, what a contrast. I thought of you when I was on the Hyper, Yammie. This bike just kind of rides like your vlog sounds lol. The Hyper feels quick, but the Monster 1200S is just full on bonkers. Personally, I found the Hyper more fun because you feel everything a bit more. Sitting up so high, you really feel like you're carrying crazy lean angles, even when you're just puttering around. IMO, it's the height and riding position that make this bike so much fun, combined with the wonderfully torquey engine and the glorious sounds it makes. If Ducati had a dealer in Asheville, I'd be all over this bike. I'm just not willing to ride over an hour every time I need service.
I own an A-Z Sources 'Duca' which is a scaled down electric version of this bike and it is an absolute thrill to ride so I can only imagine how much fun this might be.
I had a dream the yammie is the best CZcamsr to ever live
I had the exact same throttle experience with my 1200s.. There is a throttle spacer mod that sort it out completely 👌
This looks beautiful
At this pace papa is closer to a ducati sponsorship than a triumph one
Your gloves look cool... Matches the bike. 😎
I looked up the stats and it is 399 lbs dry! That is crazy for a nearly one liter bike; it is 57 lbs lighter than the las Kawasaki 650 dual purpose bike!
You got me wanting to go trade in my multistrada in on one of these
The shifts specially upshift sound so good
I actually got the standard 950 as my first bike learning slowly with the reduced power modes to start.. now I’m ripping through the sport mode, makes bad drivers look good lol
I wish I had a starter bike that cool. Enjoy it, but be careful out there!
Nito Martinez does it handle drops well? Lots of aftermarket equipment for cages or sliders?
bluewker yes it handles drops well, I’ve actually dropped it twice, once during a u turn, and other stationary. The hand guards took all the hit on both occasions, durning the u turn the shifter did bend alittle but no damage to the paint or water pump, can’t even tell it’s been dropped lol
Sorry this is late but I was wondering if I should buy one as my first bike. Is it too much in the reduced power modes because at full power it makes as much as an r6. I’d love to hear what you have to say about it!
Beautful riding mate
a question popped into my head, now you have the Busa, do you feel that the more you're getting used to it you feel smaller bikes are slower than they would otherwise have felt? I had a Ducati 900 super sport and my 2003 Busa and the Ducati, while a nice and very capable bike, didn't feel as good as it might have if i was only used to a smaller 400cc ( for example) bike, but now that i've owned my Busa for 15 years what is 'normal' riding power for me isn't what it used to be 25 years ago or more
Can you do a review of the Husqvarna 701 supermoto?!
Yam could you do a Ducati Supersport S Ride and Review ? , I'd rather watch your review than others
It’s one of the coolest looking bikes imo
Ah the moment Ducati puts those stars in your eyes...
Some people gave me a a hard time when I got my Hyper (2020). They say its not a "real" super moto. That is why I kept my super moto. I suggest having both if poss. I ride the Duc more tho. Love it!
They're both fun but I think the Hyper is a lot more practical. This thing can easily go highway speeds, maneuvers better than most street bikes, and only needs an oil change 1/year. Like you said, having both is the best!
Drove me crazy when he was on the highway and never put it in 6th gear!!!
Have you tested the diavel yet? I have a scrambler and love it but need something bigger both power and size. I am 6’2” and my knees hurt on most bikes after a while. I think both the hypermoto and the diavel are both cool, which do you like?
I just test rode it, neutral is easy to find. No idea what youre on about. But damn this bike is a babe!
On all Ducati ride by wire, installing the ducati throttlespacers eliminates the funny play. First thing I did to my Multistada 950. Now its precise modulation! Thanks to ducatispacers
Man that thing sounds sweet
I have a feeling that dead zone in the throttle has to do with a more aggressive map in the top two modes.. I would be interested if it goes away in Urban mode, as when you switched out of Urban you started talking about it...
Hey Yammie, which one's meaner? Hypermotard or the KTMs?
they have the same engine in the 821 just a smaller displacement version
The risk of a passenger getting burnt by this exhaust looks high!*shifts attention to the aprilia dorsoduro
God bless whatever passenger rides on the 950 SP
You eventually learn to love the smell of smoking leather, it smells like a real bike.
@@yammienoob The wife loves when I open the throttle good on the 950.
That bike is meant for one person not two it's nowadays full-blooded horse.
Did you ever saw a two persons on full-blooded horse?
You want a two person bike ? Buy a Harley or some similar truck thing
I was on the back of my friends one on the way to get mine and it just fine didn't even notice!
Sounds nice and looks fun. Just a shame you didn't ride it harder..
Hey yam where do you ride your scrambler off-road? I have the duc desert sled as well and live in the Austin/San Antonio area, looking for some places where I can get some mud on the tires
Am I missing something? Why would you be surprised that a 939cc, super lightweight bike is fast as hell?
Because I've ridden several larger displacement bikes and this one felt even quicker.
@@yammienoob have you tried the nuda?
Yammie Noob , you’ve ridden many more bikes than me. I trust your experience.
@@Clergy4Life I don't think the Nuda made it to the states
@@frankeichhorn7979 tragic
Would you recommend this bike for someone experienced offroad
2:44 I have the saame rs taichi gloves, great gloves. At the begining of the video reminds me of Reuben from ChaseOnTwoWheels like... 5 years ago at least
I have a zx10r which I love but its only really fun when you start doing well over 100. I'm going to loose my licence on it so I'm Thinking of getting something like this where you can have fun at nkrnsl Road speeds, but then I'll miss rinsing sports cars 😭
Well, yes of course a 939cc 2-cylinder feels torquey 😎👌 can confirm
Nice review and sweet bike, that exhaust sounds awesome!! .... this would appear to be great competition for the new KTM 890 Duke R ... which has a tiny bit more torque (3nm), 10bhp more power, is 10kg lighter, has the same high spec of electronics - but is around £4,000 cheaper than the Hypermotard SP!! .... Game on!! 😉😉
Yup,exactly!!
Killing myself over which one should i go for😅😂
It hurts so bad to be itching to ride but its 30 degrees outside
Zack Imm Pennsylvania! I hear you !!!😄😄😄🍺🍺🍺
Thats kinda hot better take the summer gear 😁
I have an SC Project shorty with no baffle on my 1200 Multistrada...it is definitely overkill haha
Can you plz try the KTM Duke 890R and compare it to this Hyper Motard, if they are even the slitest similar.
“Feels like it went out to the gym and just hit that shit and got swoll as hell, dude!” LOL Classic! I want one.
Man I love that bike a lot
That dash is super nice
The wheelie control takes over the brakes with an electric system so you don´t fall over and somewhere in the electronics you can decide the angle of the wheelie so you could drive like 85 degrees or like 30 its up to you
Ummm no, you can't do any of that.
@@legoswami I have not read much about it but it's something along those lines.
@@joelnilsson7129 I own one. You basically get 8 levels of wheelie control and different degrees of interference. You can't select angles. But yes, the system is designed to keep you from looping.
@@legoswami ok as I said I haven't read too much about it but I knew it was very customizable and made for making wheelies safer.
I had a 2014 hyper sp. great bike but I’m short. Beware of how high the seat height is.
"turmic-noni" lmao close enough Yammie
Mamma mia
Lol the G is silent, but makes the N have a "nyoni" sound
@@yammienoob loads revolver with pasta
Take a shot every time he says "yaknow"
I see a Lot of people complaining about the delay in the eletronic throttle from Ducati
My 2019 790 Duke has throttle by wire and it is flawless. Looks like Ducati may have software issues with theirs.
@M HQ i am from Brazil here i need work 9 months to buy an Honda cb 150
GrtSatan in 80.000 miles e throttle on my multistrada works fine !!😄😄😄🍺🍺🍺 just sayin
@@artmchugh5644 Looks to be a simple mechanical fix that Ducati should have figured out from the get go. My Duke has had a few issues as well that were fixed under warranty but shouldn't have been there in the first place.
@@GrtSatan there is no problem with the throttle, it's the typical slack you can adjust with one screw on a normal throttle. since this is ride by wire you must use spacers. most people like the throttle as is, some change it. i also wouldnt compare the duke 790 to this bike, the hypermotard is a different beast, but also costs alot more.
What would be a good daily for a new sports bike rider?
I was just at Ducati in Dallas yesterday I asked them about lowering any of there bikes to fit my short legs they said they cant 5 foot 4 here
I have a 2011 Hypermotard it has that Same Lurching spot on the throttle lol.
So what are you buying?
What’s more fun, this or ftr1200?
I LOVE my 2019 Hyper!
And a side note, got it as my 1st!!
@@jo3071 Nice, I did the same. Ordered mine a week ago and I'm going to ride it in April. Is the power managable?
@@gurcanbozdogan9829 yes, much more power than my old 2014 SP but still smoother to handle with the new electronics.
"It's not having trouble keeping up in traffic." Lol. I'd be more concerned about the overall plantedness of it on extended freeway riding if I was going to take it on longer rides down those kinds of roads.
Fantastic bike
Can I start motorcycling with this bike?
I own a 939, the jerky lurchy engine issue is very much a result of tuning. The power delivery almost gives a little bit of a 2 stroke feel, with torque hitting hard around 6k RPM, BUT with a tune, the torque is constant across the rev range and rides insanely better
Don't make me do it yammie I keep telling myself the WR is enough lol
15:59 ...and as a first road bike? I would think that if I can jump 60+ ft natural terrain doubles on my 450, then I shouldn't have trouble simply riding on the road
I own the 950 simple version and the difference is just color and small little specs like the tires, quick shifter, the shocks, and carbon details to be honest paying almost $4000 more for those things it's too much you can have the same fun with the regular version
You didn't comment on this. Since it's a V/L twin instead of P-twin does it feel as thin between the legs as say a DRZ?
Not like a drz, but still pretty thin imo.
I like it but how reliable is it
I still like the look of the old Hypermotard 939, maybe even a little bit more than this new 950, with how the exhaust is wrapped around the engine and all. But the changes to the engine in the 950 (80% of all it's torque already from 3000revs) is just to good to pass on. Many that tested the 939 Hypermotard said that it was missing a lot of torque down low and that it first came alive in the middle rev range which was disappointing in that bike. So because of that the 950 is the better choice. The standard 950 from 2019 - present is becoming cheap on the used market and is more than capable on the street. The suspension on the standard one is fully adjustable and you can add a quickshifter to it. Just a full exhaust system and a ecu flash on that bike and you have an amazing streetbike that sounds gr8 and goes like stink =)
Cheap? Lol i bought new sp cause the used ones are fucking overpriced af
To hear you say wr or drz instead of the sled broke my heart. I thought we were brothers, lol.
My 790 Duke is a hooligan machine par excellence, and it was a bargain to boot. The WP suspension is no match for the Ohlins kit on the Ducati but appears to have been ideally optimised for someone my size and weight. It is a perfect weapon on the street and I look forward to track days.
GrtSatan but would you ride a ktm 950 Sm?
@@NudaMan Of course, but I just bought A Royal Enfield Continental GT and can't afford to ensure more than four bikes and a car as well.
"insure"
@@NudaMan Never heard of the KTM 950 SM.
GrtSatan damn hellla niceee 👌 and they came out in 2007 - 2011 I believe and then they made a 990 SMR
Maybe a Squid question, but why would you want to remove your ABS on a bike like that? Surely you'd want the stopping power without the fear of sliding
How tall do you recommend this bike?
Wow, you're actually riding again.
riding.. neah.. farting...
Yes, finding neutral is a difficult task. And is typical with my 2018 SP how there is a slight hesitation with throttle. Torque and suspension are the highlights, however riding position seems it will take some time to like and feel comfortable, granted I have only rode mine once with one of those lowered seating seats which is garbage and that is probable where I will put that, in the trash. and have to ride with stock seat on today to see and feel difference.
Maybe it's a flaw that you can't find neutral but it's better than finding it by accident
6:37 dont drive in the midle of the line, there is a lot of oil on tarmac.
an old standby that people still hold on to. this is mostly only true at intersections.
No there isnt lol, if there was “a lot” then you would see it
On the topic of supermoto related things that cost too much, can u get your hands on the new ktm 690 smr or husqvarna 701 and compare it to the hypermotard?
Totally different bikes. No need to compare really
This bike compares more to a sport naked than it does supermotos. I know it looks like a supermoto, but the supermoto genes are superficial. In terms of power and the way you ride it, it's more like a sport naked. It's a better comparison for a 790 Duke than the 690 SMR.
@@bradleyland With over 160 kilo the other 2 bikes arent exactly supermoto either.
Wtf does Lurchy mean Yams?? Lol im lost as to what you mean.. Looking into a Hypermotard 950 SP so plz lmk thanks
Do one about the Kawasaki Vulcan S.
TFW ducati will sponsor this channel before triumph making us all ducatistas
One day after the 62 I'll try one
The ABS thing is because of the snot pockets in the EU writing a regulation saying ABS can't be turned on and off. Some smart hacker types need to release a flash for the ECU that will allow the rear ABS to be turned off so proper hooligan action can occur.
>hypermotard
>sophisticated

dear yammie,
can you do a review on a royal enfield bullet 500, please.
i got one from my father and it´s the complete opposite of what we know about modern motorcycling. it vibrates badly, the breakes are poor and the riders position and streering feels really strange when you ride it the first time.
so please poppa yam, can you do me this favor for christmas . i think this would be fun for all of us. :D
Last time I checked in on Yammie noob he was just getting into bikes again after his crashing saying he was going to take it slow, here is now riding a 950SP LMAO
