  • Want to run LightKey on a different computer from Ableton Live while still using Live Triggers? Here's how!
In my previous tutorial, I shared how to use Live Triggers to control LightKey from Ableton Live:

However, there's a limitation with that setup: You're running both programs on the same computer.
Professionals know it's risky to do so.
It's always best to keep programs on dedicated machines, each handling separate tasks.
If you're ready to adopt the "Pro" approach to controlling LightKey with Ableton, read on.

You mention using light key on a separate computer, but you never explain why…… Can you tell me why I can’t run them both on one Mac?

You don't have to. It's just generally a good idea to have different computers performing different tasks if your budget can support that. I run lights, Ableton, and MainStage all from one computer, and it's been fine this far.
