There are always exceptions. For example, I'm from Minnesota in the United States, and everyone thinks that everyone sounds like the characters from Fargo. Yes, most of the people who live here sound like that, but it's more common in rural areas. In the city where I live, the accent is much less strong, and many of us make an effort to hide our Minnesotan because we want to sound more neutral. But then if I want to make my partner laugh I'll lay it on really thick and start talking like Merle the Chicken Farmer from Brainerd.

I am here, again, because I found it so hilarious😂
These guys are great at taking the mic out of each other.
My girlfriend is from North Wales and my mates down south refer to her as *the Gogleddian*. I love the coolness of the Gogs. When she takes me to places I make a point in asking her to speak only Cymraeg when ordering stuff in a shop or restaurant. That adds such a cultural and heritage value that we don't have around Cardiff as much.
I have recently moved to the valleys and think I am the only Brazilian in Rhondda.
Hospitable welcome everywhere, but it still kept me thinking what the locals made of me. For a while, I thought they were pulling my leg and referring to me as a *love-butt*; the ladies greeted me happily with a " 'ayah luv" whilst the fellas uttered a "right budd?", which for me it sounded more like "ripe butt?".
I think I have now sussed out the friendly local salutation and find life in the valleys very nice.
So, I am now self proclaimed *a Valleyan* !
Watch out! Don't offend the Welsh in front of me, otherwise I'll go 'favela' on you!👍😂

As a scouser I was well into adulthood before working out my accent was in good part derivative of north wales migrants settling in Liverpool over centuries. On a visit to Rhyl and Prestatyn I was struck by weird scouse accents everywhere before realising it was the local accent (listen to Michael Owen the footballer he's from the area). Add in the Irish influence from the 1800s and voila!! - the scouse accent.
It used to puzzle me no end because a few miles beyond the city limits the entire area is broad lancashire. The strong "ckkk" sound as in " book and cook pronounced -booockk, cooockk" etc is pure north wales. I used to think we were part arab 😆😆😆

    • @giovanniacuto2688
