Data is already scarce on the Internet but is extremely abundant and unexploded in the Physical World. The sense of Touch, Movement, Smells and Flavors (things that doesn't excist on Internet) in other words, they will need pretty soon Robotic Bodies with touch, chemical and propioceptive sensors in order to catch and gather that data.

Imagine Ai that improves its ability, it will evolve on the vertical axis. The logical idea is you will just interface with AI though hardware. This idea is wild, It means literally all software and video and everthing kind of just becomes irelevant. Super excciting exploring these kinds of ideas.

      Multimodal models will be able to emulate perfectly (or even better) real time gaming.
      Video games are basically interactive videos, and if a model like Sora has the brain to understand game logic (for example what mechanics consist a game like Diablo), and has access to user input (keyboard, mouse, and even microphone or camera), it will be perfectly capable to output an interactive video with such logic. They just need to be fast enough to generate enough frames, and have response times to change the output in a few ms (which will happen within 24 months at most).
      At that point you will be able to ask you assistant to emulate a game similar to GTA, but with any kind of visuals, in any kind of setting, and it will also be able to make additions or changes to anything (including gameplay) on demand as you play (ex: "Hey, add a few basic survival mechanics, and make the enemies stronger, I want a little more challenge.")
      That's the future of gaming, most developers will not even exist by the end of the decade (if any at all).

      No, because the AI cannot judge whether the output of an AI is high quality or does make any sense. They are pattern recognition systems, that can judge how likely certain data (eg text) should be followed by other data (eg other text). Whether the data is coherent (if the text makes any sense) the AI cannot know as it lacks any verbal intelligence, logic and reasoning which are far more complex than simple pattern recognition.

    I haven't used AI roleplaying as a service really but I have interacted with my own AI characters and I feel like there's a high risk of becoming overly attached to your AI, learning pathological expectations and communication from the way it interacts with you, and even becoming addicted to using that sort of AI as a crutch and replacement for social interaction and loneliness. However I think developing that pathology is mostly a risk in the beginning when it's all new and novel and exciting and simply being aware of the risk and being careful not to let things get out of hand psychologically can curtail that until the shine wears off. Once AI becomes less new and exciting then that risk of pathology also lessens and the healthy person will probably disuse it in favor of real social interactions in most cases.

    I have no interest in Character AI but I do like Suno. When I first started using it, it was like a flood of dopamine to the brain. Partially because I was surprised at the ability, how good the music can get with Suno, and the realization that anybody could potentially create their own dream album on the fly everyday, which is a possible direction for how we consume music in the future. When you can so easily create music that is directly connected to your own tastes it increases the chances of finding a song that will get the dopamine flowing, instead of constantly searching for something. Just more ways for humans to get high, in a sense.

    I disagree that synthetic data is an echo chamber. These new models are capable of reasoning. That means they can do in-context learning. That means they can use chat histories to create synthetic data. Chat histories include human feedback and tool context like search results. When you finish a chat, ask your model to create simulated synthetic training data. In other words, ask your llm if it has learned anything from your conversation.

    • @Dfd_Free_Speech

      Current AI's are simple pattern recognition machines that have no capability of reasoning. They do not understand in the slightest way if the outputs they generate do make any sense whatsoever. Humans have to check that and that's why all AI are hand optimized by myriads of people checking their outputs and giving feedback. All that text based AI do is to guess which word should most likely come next.

    3:28 never used character ai. But on the topic of birth rates and loneliness being made worse in long term due to ai I disagree with. The people whom are extroverts and want that human interaction will always seek it. Introverts that want a no judging zone, can finally have it through ai instead of nothing, which is what introverts of the past would have unless they forced and altered their personality and hobbies to suit extroverts. So it's a good thing for both types of people. We just need it to be normalized, and to stop judging introverts that take comfort from it.
    As for birth rates, the economy has to change to encourage it, very much like the time of the baby boomers. That's all there is to that issue. And we might just be getting to another baby boomer era this time because of ai taking away jobs and leaving people with nothing else to do. That's something to think about.

So, The thing is, if the AI is good enough, and talking to it is as immersive and furfilling (if not more) as talking with a real person, so if the person feels happy and furfilled talking with an AI impersonating a character, then why is that a bad thing? Reproduction problems? well, let me put it this way, is that what you think the world need? More people?

    Karpathy's vision is not practical. The LLM may understand your request but would be very inefficient to make it happen. So it would need to make a program that does what you want. Also it can be more efficient to provide a perceptual analysis and output generation framework that would make it far easier for the IA.

    I am curious. As I am a Software architect and I talked with some coleques about AI and the future. And I am still surprised how many poeple are in total denial about the whole topic. You hear things like, Human will always be needed or that it is far in the future and will take a very long time if it ever comes to that. How is your experience?
    And I have to say that I am one of those who look forward to it and the benefits AI will give us. My only concern is not the Sky Net outcome but our economy. If the government can adjust fast enough when the jobs available start to drop. This is the only thing I am worried about.

    • @uberalus
      @uberalus Před 2 dny

      I am a software engineer. I agree that many traditional software engineer jobs will be getting replaced, but I don't believe that will happen "soon". Even if the technology was ready to go and capable of replacing senior level engineers right now, it would still require human engineers to integrate into existing businesses and apps. At least 5 to 10 years. Most businesses are not going to instantly adopt this and I can say with certainty that there are business owners that are reluctant to adopt AI for the purpose of making their human workers obsolete, but instead lean more toward adopting to increase productivity. There are business owners out there that care about the people they employ and I believe their numbers will increase if what you say unfolds irresponsibly and large swathes of people start getting replaced. There is a social acceptance element to this and a moral element to this that can't be discounted. All that being said, we humans would be foolish to completely outsource all our thinking and ingenuity to AI because the day may very well come when, for whatever reason, we no longer have access to AI and we need to once again rely on our own brains to survive. We would be foolish to stop learning things required to rebuild civilization on our own.

    • @quaterman1270
      @quaterman1270 Před dnem

      @@uberalus Good points. There are a few things that one has to consider. I am not talking about replacing top level engineers but other jobs. When generally less jobs are available, more people will study or switch to the existing jobs. And a very important point is that companies only casre about profit. It is foolish to think that companies would not take the opportunity to multiply their profits for human beeings.
      You can also not compare AI to industrialization, computer revolution or simple digitalization and automation. You have something that learns by itself and can work by itself.
      The simplest way to see the danger I am talking about is, check for economy models where jobless go up to 10%, 20%, 30% etc. and see what happens to the economy.
      Let's take for example accountent. The companies I know have in avarage 8 to 15 people work there. It is very simple for AI to replace their job. They will only need 2 people to watch over it and the second is because of vacation day. Why would they keep all of them? And now mutliply that with all companies. And that's just one job. There are many such jobs with simple tasks for AI to solve.
