As most instrumentalists, Matthias Höfs had to face the fact that a modern-day trumpeter can achieve far more with their modern instrument than was possible in the past. That is why Johann Sebastian Bach composed superb solo parts for Baroque trumpet, but sadly left no trumpet concertos known to us nowadays. Matthias Höfs has now remedied this situation by arranging a number of Bach's solo concertos for his instrument.

By the way, you like to see what you know - no, it's not a Selmer - it will be a Thein. It doesn't sound quite so sharp, which doesn’t do anything to the music presented in such a dance-like manner, on the contrary. In addition, one always has the feeling that these trumpets were designed specifically for the trumpeter 😎.

Der Ton quäkt, wenn man auf diesem Instrument zu wenig Übung hat.
@@andreaspaullocher452 Da wurde ich missverstanden. Ich meinte auch gegenüber anderen Meistern des Instrumentes. Besonders in der tiefen und mittleren Höhe. In der höchsten Höhe klingt sie immer; das ist klar. Bei Höfs klingt sie in jeder Lage! Sehr selten.
Having been a major fan of Maurice André since a teenager, this is the first performance I believe I’ve heard where I could mistake his tone for André if there was no video.
