    I just noticed that Hakeem's first 1st Team All-NBA came the season after Kareem's last time as 1st Team All-NBA. The passing of the torch from one generation to the next in the chain of great big men.

      @@Blahblahblehblhah no it wasn’t. The second tier of that era was better than any era. It may be top heavy relatively just cuz they’re all elite, but there was great depth at the position. Guys like mourning, Mutumbo, smits, Parrish, Brad Daugherty etc.. hall of famers that never get mentioned.

    Impressive things I see:
    MJ and Karl Malone, and Magic were consistent when healthy and were perennial 1st team. Charles Barkely, Bird, Duncan, and Dream were damn impressive as well

      Because this video starts in 1985 (why?) it cuts out Bird's 5 previous 1st all NBA teams: He made 1st All NBA his first 9 years (1980-1988) before his double heel surgery and hurt back (1989; 1991-92).

      He stat padded. There are multiple clips of him having his teammates zone out the opposing team so that he can catch all the defensive rebounds.
      There's also instance of him stealing ball away from Steven Adams on rebound.

      That's true, there were moments when he disappeared from camera on several plays, wasn't really into it unless he was going to take the shot, and that's why he doesn't have great numbers overall when paired with another superstar.

      @@Blahblahblehblhah that’s (no offense) a lazy analysis pushed by media. He doesn’t pass/distribute anywhere near as well as magic in half court and on the break. And he doesn’t score anything like MJ. Lebron has never had a mid range or back to the basket game like MJ. Durants offensive ability resembles MJ more.
      Lebron is really his own thing. Little pieces from different players but not simply a cross between magic and MJ.

Aside from 94 and 95, and the 1986 team with Ralph Samson, he did absolutely nothing dude. 87-93 he didn’t get out of the first round. And the jazz ended the rockets in 1997. And Malone had to face MJ, Hakeem didn’t. So relax on Hakeem being the roadblock for Malone.

Shaq didn't win anything until Kobe started starting, Kobe won 2 without him, and they both needed each other.       @@gifi11 Kobe averaged 15 pts on 18 shots attempts and shot 36% from the field. 20% from 3 in their first finals. How was he not carried?
      2nd finals he averaged 24 points on 21 shot attempts. Shot 41% from the field.
      He did play well in the 3rd finals 26 ppg on 17 shot attempts and 51% from the field.
      He was trash in his first two finals and definitely carried. He was a solid robin in the 3rd.
      Your original statement was just false. He was a distant 2 to Shaq and was definitely carried.

    Patrick Ewing avg 4 blocks a game in 90 and Robinson avg 4.5 blocks per game in 91. Last year in 2022-23 the highest block per game was 3.0

    Are we all just going to ignore the fact that Tim Duncan was 1st team his ROOKIE season and again in 2013 which was either his 2nd or 3rd last season??? Dude was the real deal from day 1 and his longevity and consistency was unreal. Definitely underappreciated.

      Yep. Bird made 1st All NBA 9 straight years (then had double heel surgery and back problems). Magic rose a bit later - he didn't make 1st or 2nd in 1980 and 1981, made 2nd in 1982. Eventually he made 1st in 1983 ...and 9 in a row as well.

      Olajuwon and robinson were both the better centers of the 90s. Shaq still a great center during that time but he really developed into a beast when he got huge and full of muscles during his lakers years so yeah
