the worst part about that video when The Verge had it up was the fact that it was factually incorrect, but sounded true enough to someone who's tech illiterate that it might have ruined a couple PC builds for newer people in the space

Bro I used that video to build my pc, I even brought the extra thermal paste and everything, what was factually wrong? Besides him not mentioning fans the air flow was the only thing I understood going into building it.

@@paco1022 inserting ram on single channel literally makes your performance worse by 20-30% tf you mean nitpicking.
inserting PSU backwards could potentially suffocate it without proper airflow and could cause your PC to break
applying massive amount of thermal paste can ruin the thermal conductivity of the CPU against the cooler and it could also spill into the socket and ruin your CPU and motherboard
need I list more on why it was a BAD PC BUILD that was posted for a massive audience?

The worst PC build is the xqcs one that has no case and is powered by rotting chicken and ant collony.
to be fair about the verge's point about i3s, they're really good nowadays. the i3-12100 is a great chip. 12th gen cores at 4.4 ghz is no joke. that about matches or beats out most previous architectures at higher clocks when it comes to single-threaded tasks like gaming

those insulating pads work out well, specifically when he slides it directly into contact with the frame
He did a follow up with LTT talking abt how it came to this shitty build, even tho i also laughed at this guy i must say he does have the balls to show his face again and redeem himself. He litterally admitted to not knowing what he did but the Verge just pretty much let him do it anyway without anyone that knows anything abt pc's guiding him. LTT taught him a bit.
he also started trying to make fun of everyone for correcting him on his stream lmao
That was years after. In between on his stream he called people racists and said his build was perfectly fine since it "worked".

Damn why didn't I think of this first, I used a Cinder block instead of "The Brick" and it is much heavier but does the job.
An allen wrench? This was a total troll video. Anti static bracelets have a wire coming off of it connecting to a ground like a roach clip. The thermal paste part was an absolute troll. He should have "watered the motherboard" with a water bottle before powering up.
This is at least the second time he's watched it, but it's a classic.
The complete lack of fans, absurd amount of thermal paste, dogshit cable management, and RAM is indeed cooked but nowhere near cooked as literally breaking and bending pieces of your case to fit in the video card.
I swear to God there's a video on this channel with him reacting to the exact same video already

My first pc build which is my current pc I didn’t know anything and I realized after building that the back of the pc where you plug USB and other, it’s too far so I can’t plug small usbs like the new one which is round
The best part is when you could pay 2000 and get a WHOLE computer not just the graphics card.
thats because you are buying into nvidias garbage pricing. just get a 3000 series card or an amd one and you wont spend more then $500...
you can build a good pc that can play like anything very well for like 1800

Bruh how is 2666 mhz fast for a 2000 dollar PC? My PC was 700 bucks and came with 3200 mhz.

Some boards are poorly made and have the dual channel ram slots beside each other. I've ran into this twice in my time building PC's.
Almost 5 years later after building the PC and blaming "angry nerds" for the backlash, the guy still gets trolled on Twitter.
Angry nerds? Bro people were telling you you're wrong for your own damn sake lol. The way he built his PC made it so that he was actually losing SO MUCH performance for the hardware that's in it and people just wanted him to know that. 2:00 people laughing at i3, but 8+ generation of Intel i3s are pretty awesome for building a server that plays videos (and that's what the video is suggesting by placing VHS tape and remote on the table. With 8+ gen you get a quicksync that can transcode multiple streams of 4K HDR video... Even on weaker CPUs.

IO shield put upside down, motherboard missing some screws, ram not installed properly, some items you don't need like the allen key, common sense explanation about what pc parts you should get, anti static bracelet doesn't even work cuz it isn't connected to anything that could ground him, recommended to add more past to the already pre-installed thermal paste from the AIO cooler(Why do that? want to spend more money than you already spent on an AIO?) cable management is mediocre at best, skipped some steps, basically skipped the entire OS install guide, swapped out parts offscreen, corrected some mistakes also offscreen(like the IO shield) and the GPU isn't in the best slot you would want to go for a 1 GPU build(it is in a right slot but if you want a single GPU build always use the top slot since its the fastest one)
Good thing they at least removed it but knowing how popular the verge is they most likely ruined some peoples builds, also no hate towards the person who was explaining everything since according to him he was a noob that didn't have much research time and no one to supervise him + the verge just wanting to rush this guide without correcting anything, he recently managed to redeem himself doing an updated version on LTT but him claiming that everybody criticizing him was a racist is very unprofessional and makes you look like those twitter clowns
edit: everytime I see an xqc vid I can't help but scoff at his chat, they all seem like a hivemind with one guy that sorta knows smth about a topic and they all just mimic everything that guy says, literal no life NPCs
