So this box is a beast and 3D gaming emulation gaming. It still needs a bit of tweaking to improve its user interface and I see they have already released one update that fixed its root access and other features.

I suspect that the actual SOC inside will be the RK3588S, which is as powerful RK3588 but with different I/O options. The I/O on this box is poor for the price. I would personally get a Radxa Rock5B SBC if I am spending this money, with far better I/O and available storage options or, as I have done, get an Orange Pi 5 and save money but get the power of the RK3588 processor. The SOC itself is a big step up and with AMLogic nowhere to be seen with their own update, this will rule the market in the lower to middle ARM box/SBC categories for at least the first half of 2023.
Amlogic is right there with their A311D2 the benchmarks however are half of what we are getting with this SOC.
Yes I own the khadas vim4(a311d2) and the Radxa Rock5b. The vim4 is a nice upgrade from the vim3 for sure. My Rock5b is still in the box because software installation is not straight forward and there are all types of complaints on the forum concerning this particular board. Rock5b I/o is great, it’s a great looking board that’s the chief reason I purchased it instead of firefly’s, khadas edge2 , banana pi or orange pi. Shame about complications though

Hi. I am finding that the "dirty" Android 12 firmware being used with the all of the Rockchip 3588 / Mali G610 chipsets I have been able to test do NOT play videos in the Dolby Vision format correctly, as well as atmos issues. Do you know of one of these devises that will?

Great site, love your reviews. I bought this box and am pretty happy with its performance but it will not play certain formats in Kodi, namely certain x265 hevc (for instance 'megusta' releases) and others hang while using HW decoding (Mediacodec&surface) SW decoding works up to 1080p but plays everything. HDR isn't always activated either, you keep having to go back and activate it in the menu under HDMI. It also could not find my WIFI 5 network, had to select WIFI 4 on my router before the box saw the network. Shame the firmware isn't better...or getting updated.

You can simply sideload it from a pen drive by downloading the APK file on your PC or Mac computer, alternatively you can install the Aptoide TV app store by simply browsing to Aptoide, or you can install APKpure. In these app stores you can search for "CZcams for Android TV" and install it directly from in the APK app store store. The same can be done for mobile version of CZcams. You can also install "Smart CZcams TV" that gives you the same features you're looking for

In my dealing with TV boxes all these years 48°C idle speed is low compared to the average temperature of around 54°C. And with all that the CPU power I think is doing excellent in terms of heat management. Thanks for watching.

¿Why the system resolution is 1080p in Kodi, and no 4k?.
The resolution option you see in Kodi is not for playing movies or playing self hosted videos, that resolution is for the interface itself. For example. If there was a 4K option in the list and you set it to 4K, the whole interface will get very tiny and you would be barely able to see the Kodi menus. If you play a 4K video your TV will display 4K.
does it play plutoTv and can it read a 4tb external hard drive. will be buying this soon to replace my t95 box.
It can play Pluto TV unless Pluto TV requires HDCP protection which I think it does not. It can read a 4 TB external hard drive. Thanks for watching
Why do I get bad Hulu screens when I play thru the Hulu App. All I see are Rainbow colors lines and patches with a bunch of green lines. It only happens watching movies and doesnt happen with any of the menus??

No you will get some from all media players, you will only get surround sound formats via your AV receiver using the latest Kodi nexus
I don't have an answer for that, IPTV it depends on what service your using or application. This box does not have a client ID or Xtreme codes interface so you are left with apps access only.

For a microphone to work it must first be compatible with Android or as a special software to make it work. The AV port it does not support his feature the microphone has to be USB.

It has the Android TV OS version of the play store, not the regular one from the mobile version. This means you would have to sideload a lot of apps and games via APK app stores.

There are a couple of things you need to check. Are you using the direction pad navigate the box or are you using a mouse pointer. Try both ways to navigate the menus.
You can also try plugging in a PC mouse and see if you can select resolution you want.
Next it will be a firmware bug. Check to see if you are running the latest from updates. In the apps section open system update and check for available updates. Also under about check the firmware build information mine is 20221116.1404. If your firmware is prior to 2022 - 11 - 16 then your box needs to update the latest firmware.

DVB-ts is a streaming box that has a built-in tuner to connect over the air digital antennas. This will require the box to have those conventional screw type connectors to the back. How that pertains to this box I am not sure.

The AM6B-Plus is the better model. Android 9 is the compatible operating system for this chipset and you would be surprised how much better it runs than Android 10 and 11. You have a lot of firmware updates to complete when you purchase this model. A lot! That is if they have not yet done it for you prior to purchase.

What was said is that I showed viewers how to access free content that it was meant to be paid for during the video. I immediately received a strike and a suspension. Now the way CZcams works these days is that before you post your videos you receive notifications about things they don't like in the video so you can correct them before posting. Strangely none of that happened. And to make things worse there was nothing in the video pertaining to the violation they were claiming, and when I appeal it I immediately got a reply which denied my request. With the help of other CZcamsrs in the community they taught me how to escalate situations like these using very effective channels. I got someone at CZcams to manually take a second look the video for which they removed the strike and suspension and give me an official apology and said I could proceed.

Can it play 8k CZcams videos. I have a 8k TV and the built-in you tube player does not support 8k. Been trying to find a box that supports it.
OK I tried all the different CZcams players and none are giving you the 8K option. I tested using the 8K Peru video and the highest is 4K 2160p

@@renesonse5794 CZcams does have 8k native content online but most CZcams players only support 4k max. My Sony TV is 8k but the built in CZcams app doesn't support 8k and they haven't updated it yet to do it. The only way to get 8k into it is with a computer and a video card that can do it from the HDMI port into the one 8k port the TV has now, or possibly a media player or app that can do it loaded onto the Google TV app built into the TV.

Is this box better than the shield?
Its gaming performance is, but its firmware isn't. The Shield is Google certified running pure Android TV OS to play Netflix in HD/4K. This box cannot. Its firmware is also lacking a few popular features pending updates.

Yes, that's the latest firmware indeed, but I just checked and am not getting that issue you are having. So only thing I can think of is a faulty mainboard. Try resetting the box to factory default settings and see what happens. If it continues you also need to check the power adapter to see if it's outputting the right voltage for the box or if it's faulty. You may need to purchase a replacement or some type of universal self-adjusting 12V 2A or 3A power adapter. I find the 1.5A this power adapter uses can be insufficient

That is subject to change as there is always nightly updates on the Kodi media player. So you can try uninstalling your current version of Kodi, and downloading the latest stable version, or nightly build.

what is difference in 32 bit and 64 bit tv box?
There is a huge difference and that is performance. A 64 bit Android box has to have the hardware and the performance to run 64-bit apps and games and not restricted to 32 bit. Also any 64-bit app or game will not be visible on the play store if it's 32-bit only. So with the 64-bit you get access to all these hi and games

The Shield is great but it's old tech at this point still selling for a premium as when it was new. If it was $150 then I think it would be worth it.

Box itself is awesome hacked software that tells it is a phone limits it terribly inside kodi you can play anything on say the plex app you will have basically no codec support. This box would be amazing if someone would just do a proper google tv port.
I was waiting to see if any manufacturer would take up the challenge but it appears that there's an issue with compatibility with the Rockchip chipset and Android TV. It was also brought to my attention that Google raise the the requirement to attain Google certification to run Android TV, making it very difficult for them to produce a certified model. So most manufacturers decided not to go to the trouble. Because every little detail down to the box it comes in at the be Google certified. imagine that! I have a friend who has been trying for the past three years going through all the necessary steps to get his Google certification to put out his very own Android box, only in the end to quit. This is due to one of the requirements that says in order to get your Google certification you must have a record of over 10,000 sales or something like that which to me is a bit ridiculous.

For the cost to performance of this box is rather disappointing , with the lack of widevine support and many other firmware issues a consumer would be better off using a last gen samsung cell phone such as a galaxy s20 and use a dock in dex mode would give you a lot better performance as well as the firmware is far superior and better yet would be much cheaper then this .

J'ai ce boîtier, cependant il n'a pas de DRM, n'a aucune certifications, donc pas utilisable comme une vrai Android TV.
OS a pas mal de bugs, parfois je crash sur CZcams en 4k60.
Le processeur est très puissant.
Mauvaises traductions dans ma langue (français).
La télécommande détecte mal.
Le Launcher pas très agréable.
Oui, je comprends, mais cette boîte n'a jamais été censée être un modèle certifié. Je suis donc également d'accord avec vous qu'ils auraient dû simplement opter pour la version mobile complète. La télécommande est une télécommande infrarouge et il est toujours conseillé d'utiliser une souris sans fil qui résoudra tous vos problèmes de navigation. En ce qui concerne les traductions linguistiques en français, je ne peux pas faire grand-chose ou conseiller car ces choses sont adressées par le fabricant aux mises à jour du micrologiciel. Dans l'ensemble, il a besoin d'une mise à jour ferme pour résoudre de nombreux problèmes, mais je garderai un œil sur les ROM personnalisées des meilleurs développeurs.

H96 is not known for updates, I don't think there will be one.

I own one, it seems fine at first look, but it's instable after 25M playing and frrezz something like Dreamcast , PS2, gamecube....It fine when less powerfull, no possible perfect ROOT, buggy with videos and DLNA, software on it it horrible and you cannot remove useless programs...Seems plenty of bloatware!
Freezing after 25 minutes of gameplay is caused due to throttling caused by overheating. This means you need to apply a cooling fan below the box to keep temperatures within safe levels. Believe me it will work.

I bought this device but the movie with format 2160p.ATVP.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.H.265-NTb, hangs and does not play the image fluently, I use mx player pro, I tried vlc player,do you have any idea of a solution?
Some boxes are glitchy with external media players such as MX and VLC. I tried its built-in media player?

The format that gives me problems is like this
Codec: MPEG-H Part2/HEVC (H.265)
In SSD tests I have good speeds, close to yours in the video.
Try the 64bit version of Kodi preferably the nightly build version 21.
In the settings area click on standard until it changes to expert.
Under audio set audio channels to 7.1.
Scroll down and enable audio passthrough and all surround sound options below that.
Under video if there is the option to change from 1080p to 4K enable 2160p.
And see if that works.
@@tvboxstop I did all the settings you said but the video does not appear to change from 1080p to 2160p, it works a little better than before, but still sometimes has when it is not fluent, I own Samsung 4K model TV: UE40MU6102
when I play the video and then go to video settings it appears like this video stream: undetermined (hevc, 3840x2160) (default) (1/1)
