Charlie Brooker of Black Mirror fame is partly to blame, he wanted her to create a character for his yearly Screen Wipe TV show where he critiques the events of the previous year and the two of them came up with Philomena Cunk. A few years later and the character has become an entity larger than the show that created it.

@@Konoronn I watch a gaming-centric channel based in Newcastle, with most of their presenters from the area. The vowel sounds are very unmistakably unique. But I suppose other areas in the North speak similarly, because she sounds just like them. She does have a pretty thick accent though.
