She opened 1998 MTV Awards performing this song with Ray Of Light.(Lenny Kravitz on guitar) I love how she always does the unexpected.

May be nowadays the impact is a bit different but back in 1998 it was crazy to imagine that a pop star could make such music out of the mainstream. Light years far away from the teen pop of late 90s

that song is genius on too many levels, i've never came across any track like that before... it's a mantra that is sang at the beginning of an ashtanga yoga lesson ! there is the closing mantra on another one of her track "cyberraga" that you should react too as well !! genius !!

At that point, this song fits at the Ray of light concept because the album bring some "spiritual transformation" idea, after Erotica era.

Yeah I edited out a bit of me talking about MIA. I love that single they did. MIA was big for me at the time. Thinking about it, when I was 25 in 2005 listening to her first album really opened me up to a lot of stuff. I didn't know Madonna had a link with Massive Attack

@@bridgethegapreactions yeah the Massive attack connection was back in 95 I believe when she released aforementioned track as the lead to her "something to remember" compilation of ballads. Loooved your Waiting reaction. it's one my all time faves of hers.

Madonnas work has had triphop influence to me since maybe Justify my Love. Would that be Proto-trip hop?
Secret Garden, Waiting, I Want You (with Massive Attack.
There was Indian influence on at least one Erotica remix. I think you should dive into that maxi single at some point. See how different each mix was. Her singles from that era are legendary.
