The cost of most things have changed dramatically over the past few years, groceries, restaurants, gasoline/petrol, clothing, household items, rental prices, utilities entertainment prices. Basically everything is more expensive. Corporations are making alot of money and blaming it on wage increases, but they are making billions for their stockholders.

HINT: Goodwill has many brand new clothes, it's a shopping experience....they don't always what you are looking for, however it is as really cheap place to at least start looking.....on Monday's some things are reduced by 70%
The thrift stores here (U.S.) have some amazing deals and it's really a shopping experience. Most of what I buy comes from them simply because I am not adding to the world's waste and the prices can be incredible. If you are up for a unique shopping experience, try one out just for the fun of it.
Taking the whole dang coffee pot with you is genius! 🙃 what a way to start the day! Always ❤
U.S. gas is less expensive BUT many Americans aren't near any good public transit so we depend on our cars. Watching you get on clean trains and zip down to London is amazing to me. Also, before moving to Florida, check out what health insurance would cost you annually. You may not pay a state income tax, but if you and Keegan remain self-employed, you'd foot the bill for 100% of your health insurance costs, which can be very pricey.
Yep. Tax rates versus total cost structures of a location are more complex than it might seem. States have expenses, so how they raise the funds is important. Someone pays.
Also, no state income tax mean no SIT deduction from federal income (if you end up paying). IMO you need a financial planner to help make such decision if it's not a simple situation, and ex-pat is not simple.
Obamacare is not that expensive
hmm if you can afford it, my brother pays almost $600 USD a month (for himself)@@VikingJack-il4hw
Our property insurance is high on the coast.
@@VikingJack-il4hw Not everyone is eligible for Obamacare.
Remember - you are in the tourist zone areas so clothing/shoes/etc are going to be more expensive then perhaps if you'd drive 20 miles off the beaten path. Fun video and you both are living the best life and thanks for sharing with us.
Don't ever worry about just showing daily life. I've been recovering from some serious medical issues the past few months, and it's been really nice just to watch people have a normal life (since I couldn't do that).
Seeing both of you miles away from rain and flooded roads makes me so happy. Great job with the vacations!
Keegan looks amazing in the yellow RL hoodie. If you didn’t buy it, go back and get it.
1:20 Best Idea: One of you is Ricky and the other Martin.
We always just use our dog's name---short and sweet.
Joel, thanks for the Florida vlog. It looks like you’re both having lots of fun and relaxing.
Love Florida!! Thanks Joel & Keegan 😎💖
Glad you both are visiting us in Florida but I must say you are basically in one of the most expensive parts of the State (or even our country). Please be safe and enjoy. Thank you so much for sharing your exploits and travels with us.
" must say you are basically in one of the most expensive parts of the State (or even our country)"
Expensive = desirable, with people who hold similar opinions to UK and Europe
redneck/cheap = not desirable
When you're in a tourist area like Disney Springs Etc they are notorious for inflated prices if you get out of a tourist area Florida and go somewhere in Florida that's not so touristy then you will pay much less for things
Yay just thinking of what to watch. Love your vlogs ❤
Looking forward to hear how you think your experience of “living in America,” went for you and Keegan. Are you thinking it still may be an option for you in the future? Really enjoying your Florida content!!
I love your banter. I know I've said this before, but you two are so perfect together! I enjoyed this video so much!
Prices have gone up in the US period, but Orlando is a tourist hub and it’s Spring break season. Be careful during the spring break season, outlets will jack prices up and then discount them so it isn’t really a big discount. Basically know your prices. I pronounce Joel the correct way, always have. Didn’t know there was an another way to pronounce it. Also Keegan is correct on the way Lauren is pronounce. While we are talking about pronunciations Puma is pronounced Poo-ma not Pew-ma 😂
No one in the USA- south is in a hurry! If you want quick service go to New York. Everything in Florida is up in price, especially house taxes and home insurance.
Even though the running joke is Florida is not considered part of the south. But,I thought the same thing when Joel said that. You may be used to the rushing about but in many parts of America and I guess at that particular store on that day the sales person was not in a hurry. And Joel you really weren’t either it seemed. Lol For some reason Joel seemed like a moaning Brit at that moment. I still love him though.
And now they're saying they want to increase home insurance by 53 percent... insurance companies are leaving Florida because of the hits they've had from all the recent hurricanes. No profit, no insurance.
Fun catch up in the middle of the day, it’s nice having you guys in my time zone! I love that they often call you Joe in America, I think it’s a pretty good name. 😉 I have an actual Carlos Bakery store near me, it’s yummy. Bummer about the shopping, here’s hoping you find some stuff at the other outlets! ❤❤❤
I love this video!😊❤
Florida is absolutely beautiful it looks like you are both having a really great time. Florida and Florida weather does wonders for both of you, both look very healthy probably from all the sunshine🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Thank you for the video. Australian outlets are fairly ordinary but you can get a bargain!
Look how beautiful and sunny and blue the sky is 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞
Enjoyed this vlog very much 👌👍🏻
Happy HOLIDAYS :)
America sure looks BRAND new 😊
There are a lot of new areas in the United States because it's always expanding but there are also a lot of old areas
Thanks for explaining. I think we have less whole towns and villages built here in the UK as we are running out of space. 😊
At Starbucks, medium is "Grande."
Small = "Tall"
Medium = "Grande"
Large = "Venti"
(Starbucks size translation)
The chapel is getting fixed. Help to get restored is never to late. I think Marie apron is lovely. I'm with her on the imbroader. If you do it down low near the hem in a corner. The fish and chips looked really yummy.
You got my drink! The brown sugar, oatmilk, shaken espresso, is the best. It was supposed to be a seasonal drink, but it was so popular they kept it on the menu.
The only thing missing in this video is a clip of Keegan in his bathing suit. You both need to spend a few hours down at the ocean of Florida it's very beautiful❤
I love Olive Garden, the breadsticks and Chicken Alfredo. Its LIFE!
Joel, I love the brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso with the vanilla sweet cream cold foam on top!
I wish you would come out to Oregon! I would absolutely love to meet you both… and the kids! Have fun guys! You make this old lady’s day when you pop up!!!
Wonderful vlog Joel ! Florida looks like the place to visit ✈️ 😍, Caroline Ireland 🇮🇪
Joel , you should use Ava for your Starbucks name. lol I use my dog’s name Molly. lol They may just look at you strange when picking it up. I had I great chat with a braistia (sp?) at Starbucks about my name on my cup. When I paid with my card and he noticed the difference of names. He said he completely understood. And he thought it was adorable I used my dogs name.
I think it's so cool that Joel is in Florida the same time as some of my other favorite influencers Twinsauce. They're also Christian and if you watch their videos, you'll see they have at least one other thing in common ..but they just haven't addressed it yet, so I won't say. I've seen them like Joels posts too, I've even mentioned Joel to them in their Lives before.
When I saw that cake vending machine I was like this is speaking to the foodie in me. 😂😂😂😂
The cake vending machine - Rainbow cake is AMAZING
You may fine that trainers or tennis shoes (sneakers) as we call them are much cheaper at Big 5, a sporting goods store
Have an amazing weekend. Cheers.
Great video, Joel and Keegan. Glad you are having good weather on the east coast of Florida. Ah yes, the price of gasoline in the US. I remember when I thought that 1.75 a gallon was extravagant. How times have changed. The one thing that is really crazy now is the price of food in the US. Looking forward to the next installment. Have fun!!
I just love to hear them 2 talk. They both should have audio books
Love Liptons Peach Iced Tea ❤❤. Great video ❤❤
Turkey Hill peach iced tea is even better
Hi from Florida. I've been a fan for about 6 months and watch Joel and Happy Healthy Homo. You guys are great and I enjoy the banter and casual conversation. Enjoy your stay. It's quite different when you are a transplant as I am. Stay safe.
The U.S. is once again the top producer of oil and gasoline in the world - since 2019 or so.
My boyfriend and I disagree on the pronunciation of Ralph Lauren too 😂😂 I'm team Joel on this tho.
Love your videos ❤️
You two are me and my husband with our Starbucks order (and he is called Martin 😂). I’m anything sweet and iced and he is just straight up hot coffee even in Florida 🤷🏼♀️
Oh my that brings back great memories of being in florida. My neighbour is in florida at the moment , and good to see they are getting good weather. It's 3° in the Midlands with more rain 😕
10:08 every Canadian also makes this mistake ordering when we ask for « iced tea » and it’s literally just chilled unsweetened tea 😭
Joe the way we say your name in america is like Noel joeeel. Lol love you guys . Keegan I have a store in my next town keegan named keegan varity store ,Lots of love from Maine US.
I have been enjoying your CZcams short videos. You are right about the fuel. Ours was outrageous Canada for awhile with the trucker strikes and covid, which also made retail and produce inflation skyrocket, but the gas seems to have improved for now. Even if I were rich, I would not buy swim charts for 200 dollars. That being said, I think you guys got some great deals. I am happy that you both are enjoying your Florida trip. You both look relaxed. Keegan, it may help your back to get a massage or chiropractor realignment. Take care and enjoy, guys.❤
The perfectly pear juice is one of my favorite drink from Panera but also get the half-and-half that well as sandwich have it and half the time I get the half salad and a half soup but a turkey chili all good
When they ask my husband for an order name, he often goes with "Beelezubub." 😆
I have only been to the Prime Outlets location to the west of Toronto. But based on that experience and what I have heard. Most items sold in these places are made to be sold in the outlet locations only.
When I would travel to the UK in the past I would shop for clothes. But over time the prices seemed to get more expensive relative to Canada. Plus a lot of the stores I used to go to disappeared, like BHS.
Myself, I tend to shop at liquidation type stores which sell ends of lines and returns from major retailers. At my local one, called Treasure Hunt (Dirt Cheap in the southern US) I have picked up some good bargains on high-end and low-end goods. Like a pair of men's chinos from Banana Republic which were selling for $130 Cdn on their website for only $2.00 Cdn. At Christmas I got a pair of Old Navy child's Buffalo plaid (red/black) pajamas for $10 Cdn (with 10% off for being 60+) while the Old Navy website had them at $29.99 Cdn. I wanted to buy a matching pair for my Niece to wear with her 5 year old. Old Navy priced them at $50.00. Fortunately Old Navy had everything in the store 40% off, so I ended up paying $30 before the VAT (13%).
As to gas prices, the US does produce a lot of crude oil these days. But Canada also pipes major quantities south to US markets. American oil is priced on WTI (West Texas Intermediate) price. Canadian producers generally get WCS (Western Canadian Select) but refined petrol does flow north into many parts of Canada. So that our price at the pump is often based on the US price. Though we have a lot of taxes built into the pump price (currently $1.41 Cdn per litre for 87 octane and $1.58 Cdn per litre for diesel).
When you were saying Martin my mind went straight to Friday Night Dinner.
I love thrift shopping! Just wash good. I've found Adidas , Ralph lor-en (Keegan) lol❤😮
Keegan try Turkey Hill peach iced tea it is so delicious❤
Joel, I had to laugh when you said that your dad "is gonna roll his eyes at that coffee order" because he's more likely to roll his eyes that you didn't know that George Martin was VERY FAMOUSLY known for being the producer for the BEATLES-- the greatest, most influential band in the world who not only revolutionized British music, but American music, as well. I was four-years-old when the Beatles first came to America. To this day, I vividly remember the tv footage. I feel so old now!
I remember when gas was cents (less than $1/per gal) in the early 80s. I've lived in LosAngeles, CA all my life and gas is high between $4.60-6 per gallon depending on the station.
I remember in the 1970s when gasoline was 50 cents a gallon and a pack of cigarettes was 50 cents
shop at some regular shoe stores they also have sales and will be nice new style selection. do it!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video!! Guys don't be afraid to spend that UK money here in the States!! 🤣 Prices have really gone up, when I go shopping, I find myself saying, I'm not paying that much for that!! It's not that I can't afford it, its about the principal. I'm a bargain hunter like you guys are!! Joel, I really did miss the live!! I had set my notification for it, and was all ready to join in, and then there was no Joel and Keegan. 😫 Oh well, that's the way life goes sometimes. Keegan"s pronunciation of Ralph Lauren is correct. Looks like your having a nice relaxing, working vacation/ holiday!! Enjoy!! ❤😊🌴🌞
George Martin was The Beatles Music Producer. You could use your initials "JW" for your Starbucks order. If you had done the "live" at Disney Springs that would have been cool. Looks like you hit lovely weather on your trip,
Hey Joel, loved the blog. I’m with you though mate on saying Ralph Lauren.
Do you guys ever go to Gideon’s Bakehouse in Disney Springs? Great coffee and amazing deserts. I find outlets to be more expensive.
Thats Expensive even with reduced Price. Greetings from Austria.
Joel, you should try those patchwork jeans. You’d look cool in them
The reaction to Panera, which is do common here made me chuckle
Polo Ralph Lauren advice…sign up for their emails and they will send you additional percentages off. Usually 20-25% additional savings. That’s where you can really save. Cheers.
Can’t even give an easy name. I was in San Francisco and my nephew ordered ice creams. His name is Jack. A few minutes later I heard them calling John. On looking around there were no other people waiting. He went up, collected what was ready and said that his name is Jack. When they called the final part of the order….yep! John!!!
Hit the malls. And then go to the clearance sections...Millennia or Florida Mall.Premium Outlets are hit of miss. Cheers!
13:10 I stayed up late at night for that livestream because I was looking forward to it and wanted to say hi. Maybe another time.
😮 You’re in West Palm Beach! I live just 20 minutes south of the Tangler outlet mall. You’re absolutely right about the price of everything. So ridiculous! Enjoy your stay.
OMG! I miss Florida! :D
Try the Pacific Northwest
I went to Florida last May having not been for several years and was shocked at the prices so much so I came home a week early. Like you I went round the premium outlets having found them great value before but definitely not now. When there it was on the high 90,s so I went to get an ice cream cone, $12.40 plus tax!!! Now I know the rate of exchange is woeful but even taking that into account the prices were very high. It just seems to have raging inflation and I won’t go back for a few years if it keeps that up. I met a UK cpl who go to Florida every year and always took an empty suitcase with them as they found clothes prices where so much cheaper than the UK. It was the first time they were returning home with the suitcase empty because as they said clothes are now cheaper in the UK. Even the cheap shops are now expensive as are the tolls for driving around Orlando
Something you may not have considered is that you're not here during a sale season. If you want whole-store discounts, it'll be during the big sale times. Year-end has way more significant sales throughout the most of the U.S.
Love Penera Bread! 😊❤
I hope ya'll go to Busch Gardens in Tampa while in Florida and film it, Busch Gardens is my favorite amusement park I like it way better than Disney. Enjoy your vacation and have fun.😊 another nice place to visit is Ybor City near Tampa. It's pronounced e bor. 😊❤
good bargain hunting!!
If you like Panera, you should try First Watch, nice vibe, clean and fresh food.
That was Ray McGee on the traveling piano!
Price gouging is a real problem here in the states. Ever since COVID and the supply issues prices went up and they never came down again. We need regulations to stop this insanity!
My sister is named Lani (it's a Hawaiin name that means "heaven" or "heavenly"). It's a lovely name but very uncommon. so most people she encounters have never heard it. Whenever she orders a coffee from Starbucks she always gives the name Annie, because more people know it.
I love you so much, the way you say Puma and Adidas 😂 but, I'm an Americant, so that makes sense😊
I'm with Joel on Loren...🤗 from So. Cal
You could order your coffee James Bond that's 007 lol
I love the way you pronounce certain brand names. You're right on with Ralph Lauren. Puma and Adidas are pronounced a little differently which I love how you say them. (By the way, if you ever saw the movies Nine or Grumpier Old Men or her many, many other movies) you will know who Sophia Loren is. Hope you're enjoying your time. You both are looking very relaxed. Seems like Florida agrees with you! Have fun and enjoy the rest of your time! ☀🌴☀
My husband is just like Keegan, grabs my drink or food off my plate " just give me a taste.." 😂😋❤️🌈❤️🌈❤️🌈❤️
Greed Joel, it's called greed. Keep hoping it's going to settle, but no, prices keep creeping up and all you have to do is look at their profit margin. On the positive side, looks like you and Keegan are having a really nice visit, and that is a good thing. Thanks for taking us along.💕👍
Very interesting…as the Starbucks terms are tall, grande, venti, and trenta in the U.S.
I say Ralph Lauren the way you do Joel. No idea if it’s correct but it’s how I’ve always heard it as assume it correct 🤷♀️
I had jumped on that livestream and people were hanging out and someone mentioned it was set wrong. No biggie. It happens. Hope you are enjoying your trip thus far.
Brit here living in Orlando ,place used to be so cheap, clothes, eating out, food . So expensive now .
My mom and I stayed in that area of Champions Gate a few yrs ago for like two months....ate at that Panera Bread several times. Hated that area though, as its a big resort/golf/holiday home area and gets super busy so "living" for a longer time for vaca is not fun...lol Though staying longer did give me time to lear a few short cuts around to avoid some tourist traffic. Oddly enough I even had that same car that you rented just in a dark blue....practically parallel lives it tell you...except I don't have a gorgeous hunk of a man as my boyfriend...or any boyfriend at all 😭 Hope you enjoy your time. maybe I'll stay at your parents place some time in the future ...though its a bit big for just one person. 🤷♂
Joel's reaction to the speed at paying at the store. I had to laugh! If you think that's slow, go to Portugal! You go to the grocery store and they let all the granny's cut the line (which I don't disagree with). But, then the cashier will chat with every customer about everything ... their kids, their grand kids, what's growing in the garden, how long it's taking to get something fixed, etc. You could spend 45 minutes in a line with only 5 people in front of you!
Back in tge 80's used to be $0.86 a gallon
Joel, rampant inflation is a problem all round the world. In Australia it’s largely due to our concentrated markets and absence of any real competition. Our two supermarket chains are a case in point. Here in Melbourne petrol is about US$4 per US gallon atm. And tell Keegan I’m going to appropriate his version of American/American't😂. It’s perfect🤣🤣. Am I the only one to notice?
I can DEFO relate to Joel about the name. I get called "Gayoff" all the time by US people whenever they call me. Lmfaol!!!
6:49 Those Underwear packs were a gay awakening for many of us.
