I spent three weeks traveling Scotland with a friend. We traveled through Inverness over to the Isl of Sky. Driving through the moors along Lockness was amazing. I most loved all the castles along the route not kept up, walking through them. Being from Canada we don't see things older than 1800's really..

That Airbnb is beautiful! Although I would want big cozy chairs in the bay window so you could sit comfortably sit with a t or coffee and look outside; those little chairs don't look comfortable but they do look cool. The ceilings would have to be taller than two metres because that"s only about six feet lol. They probably are 9-foot ceilings which is kind of a standard Victorian height (closer to 3m). The reasoning is there was always smoke from cooking, candles lanterns and smoking, and the high ceilings gave it somewhere to go, away from people. This is the kind of place I would want to stay if I ever am able to go to Scotland! They did a great job of making it comfortably modern without ruining all of the original character! Look forward to seeing more about this trip!

Your B&B accommodation reminds me of my first visit to Edinburgh. The building we stayed in on London Road had a staircase like you show. But when we entered the B&B there was this massive living room/dining room (probably 30 x 30 feet) that was two stories high with an original sky light in the middle of the ceiling. Our rooms were on the second floor. To get there you climbed a iron staircase attached to the side of one walls up to a balcony area above. Looking out of the windows of our room you could see the communal gardens for the building. And the park like green space for the buildings in the block. This was a big change from the B&B accommodations we had in London (Pimlico) south of Victoria Station. We had a small single room with 2 bunk beds and a wash basin for my parents plus my Brother and I. There were gaps along some of the streets were houses had been blown out during the Blitz. Trees were growing up from behind the plywood hoarding . Which surprised us as this was 1969. We thought something would have been done before that. The owner of the B&B said it was to do with estates not being able to close as whole families had been wiped out during the war.

On the surface, Keegan looks like the kind of chap who would go for a muscle head jock type, which would be so ordinary. He has really shown depth of character by getting involved with someone who is cute AND cerebral. You two look and act like a very happy couple. Joel (and welcome Keegan) - It is interesting how much viewers like to watch that which no doubt appears mundane to you, but being from the States, it's always a 'comparative' thing to me, if nothing else. I really enjoy reading the menus of places you dine at. Generally, the food is the same, but perhaps the name or preparation is a bit different, but as well, the combination of things (which is always inspiring, in a kitchen). On 'The Ships' menu, near the top, was Magic Water, described as water over ice with cucumber and mint. I learned of a similar 'summer' drink only a few years ago, only with some fresh ginger in it (and sometimes some lemon or lime slices) which is allowed to macerate in the fridge for a few days, first. Great stuff. I love to compare the prices as well, good deal, bad deal sort of thing, as well as the architecture, streets, shops and parks you visit. Anytime there is a dog involved, those are just bonus points. I live near a Harbour, and I'm always reminded of how 'not boring' and truly magnificent a place it is, when family and friends visit from a distance, and freshen my view, just as with you.

My brother had two flats ( in succession not at the same time) in Marchmont and Warrender which would be very like the one you had. Now he's in Morningside.
