    What is Intermittent Fasting?
    Intermittent fasting may sound a little scary the first time you hear about it, but the truth is we all follow some form of intermittent fasting.
    If you avoid eating after your evening meal then you are technically fasting until breakfast the next day. The difference between intermittent fasting (IF) and regular life is that IF is conscious and planned.
    There are different forms of fasting, but they all involve periods of high calories and periods of low or no calories.

    Hey Doc, there’s lots of talk around the internet about the negative affects of intermittent fasting, particularly in regards to women and their hormonal cycles. Could you do a video summarizing research findings like these and how a person with female anatomy could practically utilize intermittent fasting if it is indeed a healthy practice?

    • @c.g.7144
      @c.g.7144 Pƙed rokem +6

      It's still extremely healthy for women. The only thing women need to adjust, is for the last week or so before the cycle, increase the eating window again until menstruation begins. A womans body needs a little bit more feeding for healthy progesterone production during the last week. Other than that, intermittent fasting, even one meal a day, is really healthy for women too. Women should check out Dr. Mindy Pelz for a ton of into about this.

    Hi,
    are there studies showing negative effects of working out during fasting? I have done it for a while I feel perfectly, and I started doing it because a doctor recommended to me, he claimed fat burning is much better if you do it that way. of course after working out eating some high protein food is relevant.

      @DoctorMikeDiamonds  Pƙed rokem +3

      Hey Abdulla, if you are hitting your macros every single day (and you are absolutely sure about it), but still not losing weight, it means you are not in a deficit. You need to either drop you calories more or increase your activity. Hope this answers your question!

    Hi dr mike ! Question !! I have 25% body fat as 5’2, 22 year old female . I do weight train 5 times a week and cardio about 3 times a week. I was trying to lose my small pudge so i was in a slight calorie deficit . Butttt should i just push myself harder in the gym , and eat more protein with a slight calorie surplus to up my lean mass and eventually balance out my small pudge ?? Hopefully that made sense .

    • @jaimelogrono4191
      @jaimelogrono4191 Pƙed rokem +2

      Hi there, couldn't resist answering this! First off, well done... you rock. It obvious you care deeply for your health. Many of us deal with that last stubborn 5-8 pds of fat... I like your suggestion of pushing yourself harder at the gym however eating in a slight calorie surplus could result in more fat gain if your workouts are not intense enough.
      Here is what I recommend:
      1. Stay in your calorie deficit
      2. But increase your protein ( as you stated ) Decrease your carbs from gluten sources
      3. Add low intensity walks/hikes each week ( this will increase your NEAT calories burned )
      4. Change up your workouts ( Your body has clearly adapted to what you have been doing. Change it up! Try crossfit, swimming, boxing, yoga etc )
      5. Be Patient and Stay CONSISTENT (

      Good job on your journey so far.
      1. You cant loose weight on a caloric surplus (or its REALLY hard)
      2. If you are no longer seeing results, make sure that your overall caloric intake isnt too low. If its too far below what you need, you would lose weight in the beginning and then stop suddenly.
      2. Make sure you rest and sleep enough. Adding more training is probably not the solution but make sure that you keep the intensity high when you do train.
      3. Trust the process and TRACK YOUR FOOD. If you are not tracking with an app, its 1000% sure you eat more than you should.
      4. Hope this helps!

      @DoctorMikeDiamonds  Pƙed rokem

      Yes, you're right. You can still burn fat through a caloric deficit and resistance training. NEAT is used on a daily. What I suggest is increasing it by doing more, stand up more, walk more, take the stairs now and then. But it is not necessary if you're doing the latter.

    Fastening is also links to slowing aging you age when you're DNA breaks and it has to fix itself DNA doesn't break as easy when your hungry are truly scared for for your life that's when DNA works to survive so being hungry a day are 2 a week will actually help you live longer are you can try to scare yourself so bad you think you're going to die like going to get ate by wolf's lol it's easier just to be hungry for a day are 2 every week so fastening is a prefect way you lose wait and help your body stay strong on a cellular level it's all around good thing and just in case you don't believe me I got my information from a channel called impact theory it came from a Havard scientist so you can check it yourself
