    Hi, really enjoy your video.Question, have you worked on a bmw 4 series convertible because I'm trying to add an amp in the boot, and I'm not sure where to grab 12v acc to switch the amp on.Thanks.

    Great video bro. No worries that the rear right tweet is blown, tweeters belong up front.

    James, nice job by the way. I have, I hope a simple question. Bought an android radio with an extension harness. Not nearly as complicated as your task. But when plugged in everything works except one little thing, the sound. My research leans toward the amp. Any thoughts? Once this is solved your videos will be instrumental to routing all the wiring neatly away. Thanks. Keith

    Excellent videos. Extremely professional and easy to follow your explanations. Thank you. Question: Are there any aftermarket head units that support satellite radio such Sirius that will work with the factory amp and steering wheel controls. Thanks for any recommendations.

    My mate has the e53 with dsp amp, once wired up aftermarket radio everything work radio end but no sound as the dsp amp isn’t powering up, anyway to bypass it so it comes on with ignition without original harness for nav radio?

    Hello I've watch a few of your installs. I have a question I have a 2012 bmw 750 I added a sub in the trunk but I'm having an issue with the amp turning on and off from the remote wire from the Loc. So I've been trying different fuses to use the add a fuse kit to run a remote wire from a source that turns on and off when the car is turned off. So do you know a fuse number that works for this car? This will help me from having to try all the fuses for that component ie radio or cigarette light.

    Excellent video. Could you not have used the led power wire to trigger a relay to feed 12v to the stereo illumination

    • @caraudioetc
      @caraudioetc  Před 7 lety +2

      Kirk Abrahamson I did wonder about that but 2.5v isn't enough to trigger the little relays we have. Good thinking though.
      I'm pretty sure the reason the park lights are leds and the reverse wire wouldn't work is because the wires must have some data on them as well as voltage to feed back to the cars computer so the driver can be notified if a bulb is blown.

    Hey, great video. I've some questions. I have the factory schematic showing 2 amps. The 2nd amp powers the rear door woofers and optional factory sub. also serves as nav, and bmw computer etc. The front door/window/dash has 3 speakers - 1 woofer (labeled mid range, hi range on schematic) at door, 1 tweeter (lableled hi range on schematic) at window frame corner, and 1 at windshield dashboard (labeled mid range on schematic)... did you forget to wire in the one at windshield/dash? there are 2 amps, the one you found and an additional that powers the 2 rear door woofers, and optional factory subwoofer. I have 2 e53 a 2001 and a 2006... I'm wiring up the 2006 now, ditching the factory amps, I'm going with a single din alpine headunit. I'll run 3 sets rca plugs a bass control knob, an amp remote turn on wire. I'm going big sub (sundown 12 X at 1 ohm) with big sub mono block amp (d4s jp23 v1.5) I have an additional amp alpine 4 channel I'll use to run the doors. My question is regarding the front door 3 speakers. On one channel... I'm considering using the amp high-pass filter to active block low end frequency then to a passive crossover ... my thoughts here are to put the 1 door mid range /high range pre crossover strait from amp, then put the 1 windshield/dash mid range on the mid out from crossover, and the last window frame corner hi range on the tweet out from cross over. What are your thoughts here? My budget prevents me from additional amps and dsp.
    Also the rear doors are 2 speakers I'll likely use high pass on amp to the mid range then use a capacitor on the high range... thanks in advance for your thoughts on this.

      Good laugh here i had paused video at 8:45 to write the above comment... then resumed to find that you discovered the 2 speakers at dash around 8:47 ... lol... but you do not discuss how you bass blocked, or full range freq to them. My question above is still valid though. Thanks again

    Hello....I am new to this and I am about to wire up my car.....my question is why are you using only 2 rca wire from the radio and not 4 Rca

    • @caraudioetc
      @caraudioetc  Před 7 lety +1

      carey jaji the two rcas go to the soundstream amplifier which is powering the subwoofer and since the head unit we are using has subwoofer rca preout we connected to that.
      The 4 speaker wire pairs comming from the head unit are extended and ran back to where the factory amplifier connects to the speakers. Of which there are 10! 6 of which need capacitors in line because they are tweeters.
      If you are new to car audio and have an X5 I would highly recommend having a professional do the stereo install and not doing it yourself.

    • @careyjaji3225
      @careyjaji3225 Před 7 lety

      Thank for you reply, I am new to the X5 but Not new to car.....over 20 year as an auto tech.....i should be able to tackle it....I thought you are running the door speakers though the amp that's why I asked....to make sure that is not a trick I need to know. I an running a 5 channel kenwood excelon amp and the door speaker will be running through the amp.....i haven't decided yet if to use component or coaxial door Speakers...what is your suggestion about that. By the way your videos are awsome.

    • @caraudioetc
      @caraudioetc  Před 7 lety

      carey jaji I would run 3 way components in the factory front doors and dash locations and two way components in the factory rear door locations.
      Focal make some great speakers and have 3 way component sets available.
      Highly recommend the PS165-f3 in front and ps165-fx in the rear.
      Mount the crossovers
      In the cavity on the left where the factory amp was and use all the existing factory wiring.
      There will be 10 pairs of wires you can use for the aftermarket speakers.
