    Hey Karen. I have seen error 9 a few times and the solution was to disassemble the gas injector assembly, thermistor and give it a good cleaning. There is a tiny metal disc in the housing with a minute hole in it to regulate the gas flow, this can get blocked even a small amount can cause problems. Not sure what you have had done before. There is a company in Auckland called Mad Tech, they are mobile. I have the same oven so I'll have a look at mine to see if I can think of a solution.

    I've suffered from CO poisoning twice in my life. Both instances were related to car exhaust systems. I was pretty sick (felt like a migrane) but okay after about a day. Don't mess with it! I believe CO sensors should be mandatory in all vehicles and other contained spaces with hydrocarbon heat and/or propulsion.

    It’s sounds a good idea teaching people how to tow a caravan and how to set up ,what have you got to lose,I would definitely try it,oh and Stoves was a popular cooker brand in the UK,so I would go on a caravan forum to see if there are caravans they are dismantling for spare parts,for your cooker and fridge good luck,great vlog as usual Karen 👍

    go to Ebay.co.uk look for 'stoves caravan oven' 'stoves caravan grill' 'stoves caravan cooker' you will find parts listed. Even if they dont offer international shipping, offer to arrange a courier to collect from their door (providing you can actually arrange one lol) or have it shipped to a friend in the uk who can then forward it to you directly... Those cookers are being stripped here all the time, just a case of waiting for a few weeks until the exact part you want becomes available for sale... Only thing with the caravan training idea is you could wake up one morning and turn up at the site to collect your caravan and find it gone...

I know I am going to loose money on the van but it is 20 years old , do your best get what you can and move on is my idea , I look after the van as a custodian as a thing to pass on , and keep making improvements as the people did before me , it’s just an idea 😉

    The exhaust flue on 3 way fridges should be cleaned every year especially if used full time on gas . If coked up they will run rich due to less air flow over the little gas burner therefore producing carbon monoxide. This normally involves removing the small baffle and running a bottle brush down the exhaust tube. Even if the fridge is well sealed you will sometimes get exhaust gas blowing back through vents and windows etc.

    • @TravellingK
      @TravellingK  Před 4 lety

If the stove was disconnect and taken out a stainless steel welder and fabricator could probably replace the top panel and put new mounts on it for the grill. That grill design is natorious for falling to bits. My first bus had the best grill ever it was a catalytic grill. Totally awesome.

    An internet search brings up www.stoves-spares.co.uk they have a search facility for model and part number items. There is always the chance that a company would rather sell you a new cooker than search for spares for the old one. If you were lucky enough to find and get the part/parts shipped out to you, then maybe they'd fit the part for a fee. Hope this is of some help Karen.

Someone suggested selling BOTH & purchasing something NEWER , but then I though that your refrigerator was done with, BUT I see you saying it had a BACKFLOW , of FUMES INTO the caravan, sounds like high winds blowing into your vent . What would have worked better is if Bailey Caravans had listened to some of our comments and helped ship that caravan you had in the UK to New Zealand and make you a 'Bailey Caravan Ambassador'. Of course, with free use of the caravan and your vlogs as usual. Perhaps with them stipulating that you must attend up to 5 key events with your caravan to help promote the brand. It must be give and take of course. Naturally, it would also depend on whether you are willing to accept such a contract with them and that's not for me or anyone else to decide.

    Hi K. Though not a New Zealander, I have two thoughts on your proposition:
    1. You already have a skill as a graphic designer, and marketing yourself inthat field is likely to be more lucrative than the 'trainer' concept;
    2.QAs an alternative, or even in addition to 1. above, why not put your caravan on AirBnB at any site within xxx miles of the Orchard and offer a 'pick up and delivery service} At the end of the rental, reverse the logistics and take the caravan back to the orchard or on to the next rental booking.
    Good luck girl.

    Karen,
    Fridge issue will be either ignition or faulty circuit board. You have had a number of issues so maybe circuit board is the problem. However it’s a risk that you are throwing good money after bad. In terms of the oven do you. Red the same unit so long ad it’s dimensions are the same you could fit anything in the space. The unit you have was standard for on all Swift group vans during that period so am sure we could find something in the uk.
    Can you get model numbers

    • @TravellingK
      @TravellingK  Před 4 lety

      I do wonder about the circuit board... just nervous about spending more money on a maybe fix! And I've since learnt I could get a new safety part to maybe be-able to fix the stove.

  • @CaravanningwiththeCoxs

    Sorry to hear your having more issues with the caravan. Time for a new Bailey Pheonix 640?😂 the oven is by Stoves which is a large domestic oven company... might be worth finding their number and speaking to them. Good idea though with the caravan though. Stay safe, Oliver.

    Hi Karen, you should be able to get a new grill burner unit from www.stoves-spares.co.uk their showing stock cost is £47.00 plus postage, as for the fridge I would not take to much notice of the caravan engineer stating your fridge is at the end of it's life, these units are very reliable and work reliably for years. Provided it is now working correctly and not allowing fumes into the caravan it should not be a problem, good luck. Peter

    For the oven part, try: www.espares.co.uk . They are a mine of defunct products’ parts and seem to stock Stoves. Re your training idea, be conscious of insurance costs as well as concerns raised by others on here. However, if you were to use the customer’s car and perhaps an old flat trailer (bought cheap?) plus disclaimers in your T&Cs, that might work. You could set up training session/talks, and charge admission, at venues on your journeying itinerary. Good luck.

    Sell it as a try before you buy for people who are thinking of buying a caravan of their own. Stoves spares are available in the UK but only things that are easier to replace. Glass doors, hinges, knobs etc. I have the same model in my van and I will look at it in the morning to see if I can recommend a way of repairing it. Good luck and don't give up. Here in the UK it would be against the law to teach/instruct someone on how to tow a caravan, if you are intending to charge and was receive money or other rewards from them unless you are a qualified Department of Transport Driving Instructor. I would check out the laws in New Zealand but I would guess it would be the same ? (Don’t want you to end up in trouble)

    I get the feeling that caravan appliances are designed for occasional holidays, not continuous living. As all three of your gas appliances are going belly up at yhe same time it looks like they have a similar design lifespan. They seem glitzy on the outside but tinny and cheap internally. Typical that no spares are available for the cooker. It's the throwaway society. Maybe you could buy a separate hob and oven next time to avoid having to renew both together in future.
