When I restored my 1971 SS 454 Monte Carlo, i found 5 build sheets on it, one under the back seat in between the cushion and spring, one on top of the gas tank one under the trunk mat and one under the passengers Strato bucket seat and one under the carpet same side. Bought from the original owner with 78, 000 miles, Come to find out years after i sold it. That GM confirmed that it was the last SS built in 71 because the engine code showed a 72. Talk to GM Manager at the Leeds Plant in Kansas City, who told me they were on strike that year and it ran into the 72-year models. By Memory, I still know the serial number. And where it is located. It was a 454/365 horsepower engine, turbo 400 bucket seats console and an AM 8 track tape in the dash. rear air window defogger God i wish i had it back Forrest Green on Green, Saddle interior.
Great find! There is a gentleman here in ct that has this exact color/ option car that he bought from the original owner in beautiful original condition except for a repaint. He bought the car in the early 80's when he was a teenager and still has the car today.
omg, unreal. my buddy still has his 69 ss 396 black on black chevelle he bought in high school in 1970. he did a complete restoration paint job in the late 80's and it still looks brand new. it still has most of the original parts. he kept the original 396 engine and it sits with the car on an engine stand ready to go back in. he built a 454 for racing at the track. he had to put a roll cage in it to race because it was too fast. i forget which rear he used for the track but i know he has all the original drive line ready to put in. it's so gorgeous and sounds radical. i hope he goes back to original and puts it on the road again. it mostly just sits in his man cave garage and looks perfect. he won't even wash it. it will never get wet again. he always trailers it to the track and show events. his brother in law does the same thing with his yellow 67, 427 stingray. both cars rattle your teeth when they're fired up. both cars are worth a fortune. money in the bank and they're insured.
Very nice find.......kudos.......................... but Patrick........ put a jack stand under the next thing you climb under, it only takes a second to save your life or END IT. Have lost a couple of friends to jack failure.
Nice find! Wish I had the skills and desire to work on something like this! I'll have to pay a dear price for a re-furbed machine when the time is right!
Lots of unappreciative folks leaving negative posts. I consider this to be a Holy Grail in my opinion. Motor, color, 4 speed,

Car is truly unbelievable compared to most Barn Finds. Very low rust but it does have some
Gorgeous. Buff that old paint with a wash and then a rub down with rubbing compound. With original motor. Fully restored. $$$$
