Starwars Visions is a 9 episode anthology made by Disney+ and produced by like 7 different anime studios, namely Kamikaze Douga, Geno Studio (Twin Engine), Studio Colorido (Twin Engine), Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Science Saru, and Production IG (I copied this from the actual StarWars youtube channel hehe). I really liked the anime and hope to review another in the future.

Minute paper reference?
Such a massive universe to explore. This is basically how the sequel trilogy should be. No old characters, no pandering to nostalgia, and definitely, no Palpatine granddaughter.
And no token characters or attempts to preach politics.
They had everything from the old Star Wars, and they couldn't even make it cool...
@@jordanandrew2786 Ah yes the blatant references to Nixon and Bush in the first two trilogies didn't exist. What politics are the sequels even preaching?

Epic review of an epic review
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that the old robot that smokes tea and walk slow was cool!
The coolest
I love that robot. His no fucks given attitude was hilarious. The Jedi kids and Sith were ducking it out and he was still one the ship like “yep. That’s happening. Not my problem.” lol
ikr he was so cool
Lop and Ocho has the best art style of them all. The Ninth Jedi on the other hand could actually make an anime of it's own.
That's by far my favorite episode, I would love a full series
I don't know, I felt the opposite. Like too much was wrapped up in The Ninth Jedi, with the only dangling thread really being the girl's father, meanwhile Lop and Ocho was just the beginning of a character's arc with a complex political structure underneath the whole story. The Ninth Jedi really felt like, even though I know there are some fundamental contradictions with the canon in it, it was too close to Star Wars shows like Clone Wars and Rebels. It's why The Twins was a real interesting concept to me, because even though I wouldn't be able to make it through that as a series, if they did a mini-series retelling the original trilogy, since that's kind of what it was set up like, I reckon that'd be really cool.
Lop and Ocho has got to be the coolest saber design I've ever seen. Green, shaped like a katana, and with a runic inscription (kanji).
I don't care, that's just fucking cool :)
I just have to recommend you: Fog Hill of Five Elements. Its a show made by like 7 people and its easily the best animation I've ever seen. there is only 3 episodes each around 25 mins but it gave me more than most anime out there. You probably get a butt ton of bad anime suggestions but please just watch one fight scene from it adn you will see.
The first episode was such a genius masterpiece. Basically Star Wars coming full circle.
crazy how die hard starwars fans will call this stuff boring when this is probably as interesting as starwars is gonna get for a while.
On screen Star Wars. The books recently have been better than the films and shows
One of the best parts of the Star Wars universe is the creativity of the fan community. The comics, novels, and passion of individuals who loved the original trilogy and expanded the universe.
Honestly I think any real fans will see how much more value this approach and this kind of story telling has than what Disney slapped together.
But I suppose it depends on what we mean by the word "fan." There are a lot of people who are very dogmatic and toxic who call themselves fans.
@@forgethought8174 well said
You guys should really read the new canon comics. They are great and much better than the movies, the shows etc..
It's just too kiddy, I wish Disney would realise kids aren't the only people who watch Disney+ and add some violence. it just feels sanitized. Probably my fault for expecting a Star Wars Animatrix

"the Elder" was defenitely in my top 3.
Its writing quality might not have perfect and the animation a bit janky, but for some reason i feel like the artstyle just really serves that star wars vibe well. Not to mention the fight scene being pretty cool as well. Watching the two duelist quickly exchange blows before switching up their stance and trying again under high tension was a treat.
yeah i felt like that one geos a lil passed by it was really good and like u said felt very starwarsy too
To be honest the writing overall was kinda bad, that’s my only complaint and with a bit of refinement it could be really good, however 5/9 of the episodes were kinda bad IMO because of unnatural dialogue and such.

Hello checkmark
I like the 9th Jedi a lot because in the short amount of time they had they made me feel invested in the characters, plus I like how they described how the lightsaber changes depending on the users connection to the force. Not to mention that reveal was pretty sweet and I really liked kara and how her character was introduced. This is what we wanted from ray haha.
eeeh do we? kara and ray had pretty much the same introduction , neither of them were trained with a sword all we are told is that kara is talented with it cause why not, we arent shown or told she has any combat training or expiriance yet she fights and destroys proffesional bounty hunters/mercenaries like they are nothing , her connection to force was supposedly weak and all of a sudden it became strong ... eeeh she was probably the most disappointing characters in this one , the guy we are introduced to at the start , he was born when lightsabers were already banned and so he didnt really fight all that much this whole time cause he has no expiriance with em, thats logical and believable , however a 14ish year old girl who also (presumably as they were outlawed and kayber cristals were nowhere to be found) saw a Lightsaber for the first time in her life or at least a real one and started instantly fight with it like a pro ... yeah she is 100% different from ray ...
@@mateuszmierzejewski1355 to be fair tho her king? Knew her fairly well and was an absolute badass so it wouldn't be to surprising if he spent some time training her also her dad makes lightsabers for a living and knows how to use the force.

This is a single episode with a very limiting run time yet they did a good job to get the details through for those who paid attention

Wait is this heaven 2 uploads in a week
I thought the episodes were hit and miss in writing quality personally but always _visually_ interesting and despite this I still came away from it thinking it was the best star wars related thing I've seen since the Jedi Knight games.
The stories were very often mediocre, I think the only one with REALLY good writing was episode 9 which was phenomenal. But again, that's not really why I liked it so much. I would love to see fleshed out versions of a lot of these episodes and give them time to write
More than clone wars and the mandolorian?
@@theninjabird9510 I didn't watch Clone Wars even though I heard it was good and I believe that, and Mandalorian brushes with greatness and I definitely don't think it's "bad" but it still feels like "disney star wars" in tone to me. Visions feels like an actually new and fresh perspective on star wars to me but in a way that's faithful _in spirit_ to the original trilogy rather than a rigmarole of "hey look, [character you remember]! hey look, recognize [thing]? hey look, we took an optimistic character you loved and looked up to when you were a kid and turned them into a cynical asshole just like you are as an adult so there's nothing to look up to anymore, isn't that 'subverting your expectations' enough for you since you didn't like that Force Awakens was just a retread of a new hope in many ways? No? Wait shit let's slapdash correct that mistake in one movie."
Meanwhile, Visions has that sense of worldbuilding and adventure I felt from the original trilogy and the original Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, where it felt like we just saw the tip of the iceberg of the kind of stuff that was going on in the galaxy and had stories about just random people living in this universe (which to me is the real draw of star wars) instead of "You're super important, so important that you're literally related to the emperor and just happen to run into Han Solo, Luke, and Leia, oh and Kylo Ren has vader's helmet... somehow."
tl;dr I think the biggest sin modern star wars commits is that everything's related to stuff and people you've seen before in the star wars universe, making it feel like a city block where everyone knows each other rather than a galaxy -far far away- of possibilities and cultures. Visions subverts this in a way Mandalorian, new trilogy, and Clone Wars doesn't.
@@ScamboliReviews I agree wholeheartedly.

Dude, scamboli ur last two videos.... 👌🏻 perfection
The level of detail in Visions caught me off guard. There is so much time put into the sound design and the visuals that it blew me away.
I think my favorite part with Visions was there were a couple episodes where it felt like the creators were having a wonderful time making the thing.
Like with "the Ninth Jedi" it felt like the creators just wanted to make so much more and poured their soul into making it and "Lop and Ochō" the story they were telling and the beautiful world and animation. It felt like they really cared and wanted to tell a fun and expansive story to the best of their abilities.
I loved it so much and I hope there is more to come.
Honestly, I loved The Ninth Jedi. It was easily my favorite... you FELT the love they put into it, and you felt that they wanted to make more, but couldn't.
The thing i like about visions is that every episode visits a new planet with new characters and different art styles reflect how vast space is

@@zachjennings5320 I heard Star Wars Squadrons was surprisingly good as well.
"Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself."

at this point, I'm too lazy to get into star wars when every major plot point in the franchise is either common knowledge or is memed to high heaven
You don't need to be into Star Wars to like the anime version tbh
the anime has nothing to do with canon
It’s almost like he says in the video you don’t need to know anything or care about Star Wars to enjoy it. That sucks you’ll never be able to watch this show because you don’t care or know about Star Wars, which is a requirement to enjoy this show. Oh wait
With that logic you wouldn't be able to watch tons of series. Some just off the top of my head. Would mean you wouldn't be able to watch LOTR, Breaking Bad, Harry Potter, One Piece, or JOJO. As all the major events are either memed to death or common knowledge at this point.
Some of the worst logic I've ever seen.
@@alexprus7953 but I'm guessing that having knowledge of the franchise would at least compliment the experience. i don't like half-assing my way into a franchise if I just take the easy way in from bandwagon. rn, i just don't have the motivation nor time to get into it.
