It’s been a while since we went through some useless abilities from fiction, as there way too many that lose value when applied to real life. Without plot armor and any strong enemies, we find that our favorite abilities are worthless. In this video, we go through many more useless superpowers ranging from quirks to devil fruits. Shooting ki blast would definitely be dangerous and useless in everyday life but regular ki control that can enhance your abilities, help you fly, create barriers, and sense people can be versatile in real life while also having enough control to not destroy everything around you.

Presuming that the laws of physics aren't the limiting factor:
The real life drawback to super speed would probably be learning to slow down. That's why most speedsters are written with some ability to moderate it in normal life. Super speed would probably make most people villains, or at the bare minimum, mentally unstable.
Practically, everything you do is sped up, so for example, your 6-9 hours of sleep would be 6-9 minutes or seconds depending on how fast you are. Now imagine that, you'd be doing days, potentially weeks and if you're really that fast, months worth of work within a single day. You could be the best at anything, presuming that you could still interact with other things at faster speeds. Slowing down just to exist with other people would feel like hell.
Even the cliche scenario of "It felt like an eternity waiting for you to say that word." If a person got super speed and could cope with that, God chose the definitively best person to get it.
But yeah, most people will suck at writing super speed, as a given, so letting the CW cook for 9 seasons was truly a next level crime that was gotten away with.

Probably the worst drawback of Speed force is not only your body and very molecules moving at a high rate of speed, but you'll also be making decisions and thinking at the speed of light. Barry Allen in the comics purposely slows his brain down so he can comprehend a normal conversation. In other words you'll literally get bored and zone out as the world is moving in slow motion 😂

There are other technical uses with this power, but saying that it's useless irl is doing this power a disservice.

You could also pull a doctor strange and think of any and all what ifs in any scenarios
Its just way too brain dead. They had to intentionally nerf the flash in his show or he would have cleared the entire city of meta villains in a single day

For normal people it will look like they are speed reading but for speedsters they are reading normally but they just got more time to do so
If I remember correctly as soon as they start using their powers everything slows so yeh they read like regular time and I'm pretty sure they have way faster reaction time so it goes from 1 to 100 real quick.
Bro mahoragas ability is so useful, the only takeaway is that you'll have to experience these things first hand before even considering adapting to them, on top of that the giant ring above your head at all times
Also, Mahoraga adapts to all phenomena (offense or defense it doesn’t matter), so even the tiniest cuts would make you immune to cutting/slashing attacks, you’d probably still feel the pain but it won’t kill you. It’s even better if it makes you adapt to the pain you’re feeling from said thing. Also since Mahoraga is much faster than anyone irl, you’d probably adapt every 15 sec.

There's actually a whole video about why you wouldn't want to be a speedster, but here are the main points I remember
1. Hyper Metabolism: You would need to eat thousands upon thousands of calories to sustain yourself, or else you're going to very quickly become malnourished
2. Slow Perspective: The world around you would seem painfully slow, and you yourself will have to consciously slow yourself down to match it, including speech.
3. Pressure Waves: Realistically running at super high speeds would cause sonic booms and massive wind gusts, you'd be a super speed ball of destruction.
4. Killing People: If you tried to move people like the flash, the sudden acceleration/deceleration would easily snap necks/spines/etc of whoever you're holding.
I believe the speed force eliminates 3 and 4, but you still have to deal with 1 and 2, and that would seriously suck.
About Super speed there are 2 possibilities on how it works.
A. You're reaction speed is normal so you run into walls and hit curves all the time.
B. You're reaction speed adapts making the world essentially slow down instead. It won't help make travel easier and more so works as a slow down the world around you power.

Tail isn't the worst quirk, but it does help for defense in real life. Maybe you can become a fire fighter and break your way through doors in order to save people.

calling OFA useless is a bit of an understatement if you ask me (if you wanna see the most important part scroll down till you see the brackets), it has a ton of other useful quirks that stem from it, sure you need to train to have it but aint training a god thing in the first place?
Blackwhip is useful because they're like spider-mans webs mixed with venoms tendrils, you can control what blackwhip grabs onto and you can use it for mobility, float is uhmmm float :), gear shift and fa jin are really just situational although gear shift would be funny like imagine slowing an annoying fly down to the speed of a slug THEN ABSOLUTELY DEMOLISHING IT, smokescreen is useful for hide and seek or escaping certain situations or just privacy in general idk
(Now yes i did honestly hear him out and i can honestly see exactly where he's coming from but there's also alot of upsides to it, you could get paid for saving people or heck imagine a meteor is heading to earth and you just bloe that bitch out of existence with air force although it will take years to master just like various other things the end result is most likely worth it plus as long as you have enough money and resolve you'll have enough will power to get through the pain and heck if you work with the government to some extent you could get a private training area for yourself so that you can avoid causing damage to innocent citizens not to mention we do have an advantage, we all basically know everything there is about OFA, including how it's triggered, how it can br controlled, the after affects, etc.)

You're ignoring that the tailed beasts turned good after the war and only went rampant due to being treated like garbage by humans for centuries.
To avoid any confusion: My definition of Cognition is the process of perceiving & thinking. The speed of cognition would be the speed at which you can perceive things, react to them & consciously think about them.
Having severe drawbacks for the overuse of super speed to balance out its strength is both necessary and more interesting than whatever media has been cooking til now: Flash’s friction burns & increased caloric intake (which are usually not severe enough or so easy to solve that they lose relevance 😔), what @tajaniscott mentioned in their comment (the inability to slow down their cognition to hold a conversation or even sleep at normal speed), aging at a speed relative to their cognition (like every pico-second they spend in accelerated cognition is worth a minute of aging), older speedsters could get a heart attack from accelerating, sore muscles (like from exercise) at an accelerated rate (they could heal them in minutes or hours. If you think about it, speedsters would be in peak human physique, unless their power allows them to surpass that)
An interesting solution to the question of cognition (how its possible for their perception can accelerate and decelerate at will and how op it is) is if their perception is always barely able to keep up; like they’re always moving at the limit of their ability to react to their surroundings.
Another solution could be, if they actually have to keep running around to accelerate. That way they don’t have time to sit, observe & think to easily react to & solve any problem, and/or they constantly burn calories, get exhausted & overheated. Imagine Barry having to do a standing jog at high speed to activate his accelerated cognition 😂
Super Speed really is one of the top 5 most op super powers. Just consider how busted Flash is that he looks balanced next to SUPERMAN and WONDER WOMAN (who have multiple super powers and/or godlike equipment); and that they all make Martian Manhunter & Aquaman look like a B tier heroes ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️

Tbh I would still take one for all, sure your not gonna be able to use 100% but even if u learn 20% its gonna make life so much more fun tbh, deku was an extremely scrawny and weak kid which is why all might said his limbs would explode off his body, so realistically what u would need to do is constantly train your body over time and its gonna be easier to not get your limbs destroyed because deku only had less than a year to train his body as fast as possible just so his body wont fall apart, if ur a normal dude just work out consistently and youll prob get 20% after a few years

Exactly, also All Might throwing a scrawny kid like Deku to clean a beach with entire refrigerators is realistically not an effective and was only 6 months long. Deku still could handle 3% OFA with strain so say someone trained for like double or triple that time you’d probably be at 5-10% OFA because you don’t got UA’s resources. (I’m not even realistically being fair to someone that isn’t scrawny).

Mashirao's quirk is extremely versatile in practical in real life. YOU ARE CRAZY. It would literally be another leg with the maneuverability of an arm. You would need custom pants, but I'm sure it wouldn't be that expensive. If anything, you could buy regular pants and cut a hole out for your tail.

What he means is that if you are running very fast you should be able to think as fast, imagine moving very quickly but you don't even realise what you are doing like your body is moving but you can't really stop instantaneously
For example you're running as fast as flash but you suddenly see someone standing in front of you but you can't react fast enough and you will just kill the guy

I think you discounted that alot of interpretations of super speed include super speed decision making and retention. I know if I had super speed I'd be reading every book available.
I don't think i said it was a bad power. That segment of the video was meant for me to rant about how badly it is portrayed in media
2:59 I don't need to use full power of one for all. 5% OFA is still strong enough to topple buildings and shit.
Another major drawback for speed is that, unless u have flame resistant gear like the flash or sonic ur legs and possibly r going to combist from the friction generated from running that fast. On top of that, u probably wont be able to control urself and run face first into a building while going to fast to even process what u hit. On top of that, meaning that the force of that impact would injure or kill u ont the spot . it took years of mastery and help from others for the flash and other speedsters to basically not commit suicide everytime they use thier insane speed. I much as i would love to have super speed, if theres nithing to counteract those side effects then its not worth it.

6:29 as person who likes the idea its just way to impractical to be used. In most anime’s that have blast type beams they’re usually fired in one direction and that’s already becomes a problem of itself. Not to mention it’s pretty predictable because they have to charge the energy sometimes to use it but then like my older bother would say. “Why not just move out of the way?” Or better yet “just go somewhere they can’t see you!” It’s like a cannon! Fun fact about the tail quirk. Yea you do actually have to tailor (pun not intended) your clothes. It’s been said in the manga that he does have to get his clothes holes in them for the tail to fit.
All-might said he could use full power right when he got it. Also about what you said about the tail quirk, it seems that many people actually have clothing and such made for their quirks
The fact that you have to think as fast you can run sucks because imagine having to run for hours just to deal a super mega punch or what ever, like Barry has to run for literal years or decades just to get from one side of the planet to the other and no one questions how long it takes for him in his perception of time.
people dont seem to understand that super speed isn't done correctly. to properly use super speed the user would also need super strength as their body would not be able to handle to force generated from moving that fast.
I feel like one for all can definitely be a useful quirk obviously the self damage is crazy one lunch and your out for the count but as all might said only an untrained body gets their limbs blown off and this was deku just a couple months into training so i feel like if we trained enough and got our body actually ready itd be pretty great
