I think earmark started out as a farming term. Sheep used to be identified ( in the days before scannable ear tags) with notches cut in the edges of the ear. Each farm had its own pattern and the lambs were marked at a young age. Sheep on large hill farms in the UK are often not constrained by fences , rather the ewes pass on knowledge of the territory they belong to , to their lambs ( the term is that the ewe stocks are hefted to a particular area). Ear marks allowed strayed stock to be identified and returned to their owners. There were five different areas of the ear that could have a notch- two along the top , one at the tip of the ear and one along the bottom, marking the animal for life. Nowadays the term earmarked usually just means something has an intended purpose decided.

Lost my Wordle streak 😢. Connections go Yellow ONLY. Strands was interesting especially the SPANGRAM
I also lost my wordle streak. I got "olly" on my 3rd and geussed holly, folly, whatever other things he said in the video and didn't think if "Jolly". 😢
I ran out of guesses on wordle today, went with Sound-Moral-Toile-Folly, there's too many things that rhyme with that.
With only two letters, that was an incredible Wordle solve.. took me 5 and I wasn't convinced I was going to solve it
Lost my wordle streak today, and the frustration spilled out in starnds so couldn't do that right as well
I remember seeing the word scimitar in a recent video game I played
