"locked myself in my room and never went out until I had all this stuff mastered" thanks pandemic.
Gus is the true definition of a modern day metal legend. His style is so effortless and clean. Definitely a rarity among a lot of newer recognized metal players.
Kiko Louirero? Syn?
Kiko too, but Michael Schenker at age of 70 still plays perfect and clean after 50 years.
Please, I am curious as to who these inferior "newer metal players' are that you are referencing? This is important for context.
The album Ozzy Scream is brutally underrated. Just a lethal album. Great artist. Firewind is awesome.
The man knows where his fingers are going without even looking, freaking awesome 🎸🙋
Plenty of people who aren't technically that great can play without looking.
If you look at the fretboard while you are playing something is wrong.
tagradh Except Gus is a very technical player, yet still doesn’t really look at the fretboard during his leads. That’s true talent
It's called muscle memory. It's like doing a skateboard trick. Once you learn and mastered, you can do it without looking
@@Metalwhore89 Only a non-guitar-player would find that impressive. It's just a natural by-product of practice, and level of technique is irrelevant.
I've never heard the nothing else matters solo played so spicy-ly
And completely lacking in feel.
@@hinjurock Who would knew that a solo without a backing track could sound sterile, maybe it's the fact that there is no harmonic reference.
@@hinjurock tf are you talking about
HinjuRock I can’t imagine Gus G sits at home and plays that solo all the time. That’s probably the first time he’s played it in a good while. Looked like he was going for more getting the notes out for the video purposes.

Δωστα ολα🔥🤘🏻
Gus used to live 100m from my house. I wish I knew that he would become the legend he is now. RESPECT!
I had the honor to meet this guy in Greece while at a BFMV concert in Thessaloniki. He passed by and we just said hi to each other. Still regret not taking a photo with the guy. Super cool and friendly.
He is absolutly guitar legend!
His vibrato is amazing i can tell it.
That’s what she tells me \m/

This man had some of the filthiest and chunkier tones with Dream Evil, some amazing sounds on those records especially the book of heavy metal
PenguinzFTW one of the best riffs by The Silver Thinkers: The 17 million ! DAMN it's EPIC !
I love Dream Evil but you never hear Gus mention them in any interviews. Makes me wonder why.
Agreed, Dream Evil is by far the best stuff (and still is, even without Gus G) out of all stuff that Gus G did in his career! Firewind comes 2nd closest, Mystic Prophecy stuff is also not bad... It's actually pretty sad, considering he was like 20ish years old back then...
If you mean the song The Book of Heavy Metal, it's not Gus'. Actually it was composed by Snowy Shaw, which was the drummer at that time.
@@marcusfilipearnoni9999 no I mean the tone on the whole album, it's really heavy and punchy
I remember "The Fire and the Fury" was when I discovered Gus a few years back. Nice to see him still shredding it up!
Gus G rules, so glad i saw him with Ozzy at Monsters of Rock
Eli Da silva one of the best riffs by The Silver Thinkers: The 17 million ! DAMN it's EPIC !
ΑΓΑΠΑΜΕ GUS!!!
Ναι ρε Gus G
When you ask stupid questions, stupid answers are quick to follow
Gus G seems like an overall great person to sit down and chat with. Didn't seem at all hesitant to just rift away at will. Felt like a real humble laid back interview.
it's bcs he is from Thessaloniki
Gus G is one of my best guitarit idol
Φοβερός τύπος, Παιχταρας και προσωπικότητα!!
I saw this guy playing with Dream Evil on their very first concert ever - opening up for Blind Guardian in Göteborg. Even that early, you could tell that Gus had some special musical talent.
ΕΥΓΕ ρε Κωστακη μου...
I love Gus g
Awesome interview!, Thanks!, Confirms my thought that practice makes perfect.😆
Love all the bands mentioned
I still think Iron Man is one of the coolest riffs ever, was super happy when finally nailed it🙃
I love his signature star. One of the greatest guitars I ever purchased hands down.
Jesse Marck when a $3,500 guitar is just “one of the greatest” you have ever purchased. Hats off to you sir!
Jesse Marck one of the best riffs by The Silver Thinkers: The 17 million ! DAMN it's EPIC !
@@michael7v6 Hard to tell which one this guy is talking about. Jackson makes "Gus G" models all the way down to the cheapest price points.
I got the x series model. The star is the shape I always wanted. I finally got one thanks to him.
@@keplerarpeggios3215
Dude, why do you keep posting that under every comment? It's really lame and annoying.
One of my favorite players. Great stlye !
Good stuff...Gus G killing it as usual.
Wonderful!
Gus G is a monster on guitars ! Greetings from Brazil
Felipe Santos one of the best riffs by The Silver Thinkers: The 17 million ! DAMN it's EPIC !
The thumbnail actually made him look like a young OZZY
Fire and the fire speaks from his heart
Gus G is one of the coolest dudes, and I wish i could get my hand on that explorer in black with white binding 👀
Excellent guitarist and great guy
"First solo was Metallica because it was so easy to play". Finally someone else says it.
Nothing else matters is easy, and it is one of the few Herfield’a solos.
Φοβερός ήχος έχω συνδέσει και sennheizer HD χαμός!
That tone be slapping 🥴
Yess! I knew he would pick “The fire and the fury” of course that’s his most representative riff
He has like 50 better riffs!
I like the verse riff of the thrill of the chase, and the rhythmm behind the solo of big city
THE BEST ..GUITARRIST OF THE WORLD ...
Get Jake E Lee to do this.
@Mr. snickett Jake E Lee was also a guitarist for Ozzy, hence the link.
In my opinion, Jake E Lee is the 2nd best Ozzy guitarist only next to Randy
@@russell2890 agree with you, bud. Ultimate Sin is highly underrated.
@Manny Fragoza I understand why you say that, but I think it's more tha he simply has no interest in being flashy anymore. Listen to Red Dragon Cartel - same Jake E Lee, but only refined and stripped to a minimum.
Jake E. Lee destroys this clown.
HELLAS!
Best Ever Epic Millennial Kalimera from France, sir !
@@cowboybill.2433 Kalimera, yasoo Bill!
Best Ever Epic Millennial efkhalisto for everything,my friend !sorry for my bad greek 😎😉
Right in the feels seeing he uses an EVH-amp and cab. RIP
5:08 kinda disagree with Megadeth. Dave's rhythms are as complicated and impressive as other guitar players leads. Songs from countdown to extinction are easier than earlier songs. Maybe that's what he was thinking
Russel Keith one of the best riffs by The Silver Thinkers: The 17 million ! DAMN it's EPIC !
@@keplerarpeggios3215 I'm currently listening to the song you mentioned. Who are they by the way?
I mean Megadeth riffs are good for newbies as a way of practising and learning various technics. And feel rewarding as fuck when you do actually get to nail them which might give newbies confidence.
I guess Devil's Island is pretty good to start playing chugging gallops
Man some of Dave's riffs are borderline lead line's , the stamina? I think y'all done forgot where ya'll came from . I sit down once or twice a month and play '' Rust" all the way front to back " Dave's parts " sheet fukin tell me . Y'alls weed is to strong or some shit , im a forty year player when i get done w that album im cooked . Try it ¡¡¡¡
Great Guitarists and Guy. Frampton Comes Alive is one all Metal Heads should check out.
My first solo was back'n'black. And it was quite the challenge. But I got it.
Into the void, tornado of souls, the trooper. Three killer riffs
Hell yeah rocker forever 🎸💯😎❤🤘
Excellent metal guitarist! FIREWIND rocks!
I loved the pick sound.. so good
I love this guy a whole lot. That being said i'm going to go listen to Waylon Jennings now. God bless Gus. And Willie and the boys.
Cool 💪
For me, knowing who Gus G was before Firewinds 2nd album will always be, Between Heaven and Hell.
I love this video, Gus g is fucking awesome!
Met him at Bloodstock a few years ago, such a down to earth dude and in my opinion one of the best guitarists of the past 20 years
Totally a cool guy... my band opened for his solo thing in a small club called The Looney Bin, in Bradley, IL. Capacity maybe 150. GOOD fuckin time!!
Thrashsquatch Wow that’s awesome 😱 I can’t imagine what’s going through the supporting guitarist’s mind knowing that Gus is coming on afterwards! \m/
Κώστα είσαι μεγάλος 👌💣
Hellyeah GusG
Παμε ρε Κώστα!!!
one of the best riffs by The Silver Thinkers: The 17 million ! DAMN it's EPIC !
Bruh are you spamming your band on every comment or what?
Maybe when closing the show , have the guitarist take us out with some playing as we don't get to hear much with the interviews taking up most of the time.
The 'Gus G' riff for me is the first lead break in Insanity.
Πάμε ρε gus
Gus G. is the MAN!
Gus G with ozzy show.He nailed everything.Victoria B.C.
Was legit waiting for fire and the fury
🤘
Gus G🤘🤘
Gus played the nothing else matters solo so gracefully in time... that's the difference between an amature and a professional
You’re an “Amateur “ at spelling.
Smoke on the water, 7 nation army, stairway to heaven those are my three riffs every bigging guitar player should know
#1 Most recognisable Riff of ALL TIME..... Satisfaction by the Stones.
Little Gus G.
My uncle won one of Gus G's guitars autographed back when he was playing with Ozzy but sadly sold it before I had a chance to say anything
Έλα ρε τρελε κάνε μας περήφανους!
Love this guy... Great Guitarist and such a humble man.
His alternate picking technic is ultra insane good :O
THIS KID IS INCREDIBLE, SAW HIM PLAYED FOR OZZY 3-4YRS AGO AND JUST FUCKING SHREDDED EVERYTHING THAT OZZY HAD TO PERFORM WITH.......IF I'M CORRECT, HE WAS 18YRD OLD @ THE TIME I SAW HIM PERFORM WITH OZZY......FUCKING BAD ASS.......!!
Gus G is a real G for sure \m/
I predicted what would he ansler to the question for his first solo wow!!!
Make the video longer guys
🤘🤘🎸
Gus g top!
I LOVEEE FIRE AND THE FURY
Megadeth to start within on guitar? Yeah, right.
MrRocknroIl one of the best riffs by The Silver Thinkers: The 17 million ! DAMN it's EPIC !
There were some megadeth songs that I learned early on and they helped quite a bit. Obviously symphony is a good one, a classic yet simple one. But Holy Wars was great for learning how synchronize my hands, and hangar 18 built down picking stamina while teaching me some chord shapes. Definitely not total beginner stuff, but very useful learning tools after the total basics.
Symphony, Wake up Dead, Trust... there you go, 3 “easy” megadeth riffs to begin with.
@@xurxo12 Symphony and trust are easy. But, wake up dead??! Comeon..
1000 Times Goodbye is a easy song.
Finally a power metal guitarist.
Gus is near genious, he during a interview mentions un-nessesary finger movemenf". While still achieving stellar thorough results. I really like gus mindset" he also knows equipment very well. Pedals through amplification technics. Very knowledgeable gus"
Guitar virtuoso
Could you get Dark Tranquillity or Evergrey on this show?
God the economy of motion in the right hand is insane
What do you feel three riffs
What are the 3 riffs you recommend most? GusG: Yes
I don`t know if everything from Megadeth except Symphony of destruction is good for newbies :D
Maybe Peace Sells rhythm part lol
Watched a documentary about Gus last night on Greek TV. Embarrassed to say first time i got to know who he is and how he got there. Big shout out loud to his wonderful parents. I was like him (and lots of other kids) jamming my keyboards for hours, but sometimes parents- as the know better - they had other plans for me. I love my parents and I don't hold any hard feelings for them, I am so lucky to have them. Parents out there, let your kids follow their dreams. Gus you are a top man.
What is going on at 3:50? Amazing tone.
Hardwired right?
Stay metal!!!
Sounds like a thin pick he's using there
yes it is...the pick would tear before you are able to finish a concert
Sure, Yeah, Absolutely.
1:22 same feelings i got about Maiden xD dose pono re Kwsth /../, xaxax
I saw ozzy 2 times with zakk and 2 times with Gus. I love zakk, but when it comes to the sound of the guitar live, gus g was 100 times better for me. The guitar sounded crunchy but clean, the solos were played perfectly and you could hear every note clearly, and also, the pinch harmonics were very well used. Zakk on the other hand sounded awful both times with his tone and by the third song I was sick of the harmonics. Don't get me wrong, I love zakk, he's a beast. But I would have loved to see Gus a little longer in the band.
Okay
ELLADARAAA!!
3 best riffs to start...
1. Judas priest - Breaking the law
2. Black sabbath - Paranoid
3. Iron maiden - Running free
In mho !
