    Hey! I don't know if you remember me but I watched your videos about transferring last year when I had just gotten the transfer option. I officially got admitted about a week ago, and I just remember how helpful your videos were to not worry me about getting in or adjusting. This was definitely a great video, and I'm so happy you're loving Cornell. I'll be there in the fall, and I just want to say thank you for all the videos. They have been very helpful in calming my nerves about transferring!

    Thank you so much for the information!! I know it’s a pretty stupid question, but I’m considering trying to transfer from School of Mines to an ivy that doesn’t have a guaranteed transfer process; what kind of people would I be competing with for a spot, and is the idea very viable at all?

    • @morganhubbard8004
      @morganhubbard8004  Před 5 lety +1

      MageInWhite not a dumb question at all!! Not sure about this question though as I didn’t apply as a transfer student, I applied to Cornell as a senior in high school and knew I was going to transfer when entering my freshman year.

    Didn't know that the biology major was in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell. However, the major of "chemistry & chemical biology" is in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS).

  • @katemikeamberjasonoliviaqi2449

    You made great video and so genuine...I have two questions: 1. If you are admitted into College of Hotel Administration, is it easy to transfer to CALS Biology major? what is the chance? His stats are: Straight As, top 10% in his grade (private school), scored all 5s on all 5 AP classes (Chemistry, Calculus, History, Latin and Language) and 34 ACT (35 Verbal and 34 in Math/Science). 2. Can he double major cross colleges, meaning majoring Biology while majoring in Hotel Management without transferring to CALS. 3. Any other Colleges can make him ready for taking MCAT and going for Medical School in four years? Thank you Morgan!

    Hi Morgan!! I got a TO last year to the hotel school, and I was wondering when you found out? I've heard it can be as early as April and as late as June (really hoping it's not June). I'm worried about finding out later, as I want to get housing at West Campus and it's first come first serve.

      @@hannahhervert7151 Hi Hannah! I found out in April, but I'm not sure how late they send out notifications of admission. Housing is definitely a tricky situation! I would email/call the admissions office (I know I pestered them a lot) just to ensure they know you're wondering about it and kind of nudge them along. All first year students at Cornell get a bus pass for the first year, which includes transfer students!

    Hi!! I don’t know if you still answer comments but I had a few questions about transfer especially in terms of DG. I’m currently a member of my schools chapter. I was mostly wondering what was your experience like going to this new chapter? Were the girls welcoming? Do you think that they are inclusive especially with POC?

    • @morganhubbard8004
      @morganhubbard8004  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi!! Transferring chapters was interesting- initially I definitely found it difficult especially because many of the girls had known each other beyond their first year at Cornell (they went to high school/boarding school together prior to Cornell). The best advice I can give is to stick with it through that initial period of uncertainty in the new chapter. I really made an effort to introduce (and reintroduce) myself, participate in dinners at the house, and going out with girls in the house. I think since my year DG has really made an effort to create positions of leadership in the house specific to transfer students, setting new DGs up on “dates” with girls in DG as they get acclimated to a new campus and PC. From an outside perspective I definitely think DG fostered an inclusive POC environment, but obviously I can’t speak to that individual experience! I know a lot of my friends who are POC described the difficulty of recruitment, as the majority of girls going through recruitment didn’t share their experiences as POC, but I really liked how that difficulty has always been an open conversation in DG.

    Hi Morgan! I got a TO transfer to humec for 2023 and I am having a lot of trouble keeping up with the required coursework like chemistry and biology. They raised the requirements to a 3.5gpa and I am terrified not reaching that gpa requirement. I was wondering how big of an emphasis they put on the grade requirements for TO’s. I am a freshman student of Borough of Manhattan Community college and i wish to transfer to Cornell university’s Communication studies program or English program.
    Is it possible to do so and does Cornell offer good financial aid as I am not able to pay more than $5k a year.
    Thank you!

      Hello! I believe its possible to transfer as an applicant! My situation is a bit different from applying, as I was given admission prior to my freshman year of college to Cornell as a sophomore. I'm not familiar with the financial aid process at Cornell, but from what I've heard its pretty difficult to get a whole lot of aid.

    • @educatedguess1331
      @educatedguess1331 Před 3 lety +1

      Sujay Alapati for me, I applied to a few Ivys, and they asked for SAT scores (Harvard, Columbia, brown) to be specific. Otherwise if you’ve done a certain amount of credits (I think it’s 24) or two years, then you should be fine.

    • @sujayalapati4765
      @sujayalapati4765 Před 3 lety

      Educated guess oh ok thanks! I’ll have 16 by the time I apply but by the end of the year I’ll have 32 that’s still fine right? If I don’t want my high school gpa to be factored heavily especially

    • @educatedguess1331
      @educatedguess1331 Před 3 lety +1

      Sujay Alapati yeah that’s fine for the standard I’ve seen with my 25+ transfer applications lmao Ik it’s a lot. But for everyone of them they didn’t ask for high school grades. Usually the Ivys will ask for that for what I’ve heard, but you should be totally fine. Everything else in your application is gonna be your college grades, classes taken, credits earned, your experiences, work, stuff like that, as well as questions about what you’d like to major in. The common application is very good or even the SUNY application, spells it out for you and not too wordy in how to go about doing the process.
