  • With no new 126 in 2024, one option is to reload vintage 126 caretiges with 35mm film. It can be tricky - Michael Raso offers a demo with some tips.

Very good approach, specially the way you roll backing paper and film together. I load my cartridges for about 10 years now and I would like to add that: 1) 126 cartridges are EXTREMELY difficult to crack open properly - but it is part of the hobby, everything should be fun ! 2) Cut the backing paper to accomodate up to 12 frames max - no one can compete "tight rolling" against an industrial machine, we always loose ! 3) I have personally tried more than 50 different cameras with reloaded 126 cartridges... The Kodak 133 is superb; 4) When reloading, always use backing paper - so ALWAYS save the backing paper.
Cheers FPP and keep up the great work \o/

Thank you so much for sharing!!!
I just received a Kodak Instamatic 155x camera from eBay, I had one as a kid and one day it just POOF ... disappeared. So this video will be very helpful after I receive an "old new stock" 126-24 35mm cartridge. I'm excited to see how such old film looks after use, as well as if this reloading trick works.

The best I’ve come up with is the Kodak Instamatic 500. The 500 has a great lens that retracts and offers full manual shutter and aperture control, a lovely finder and sometimes meters even work.
The key is to take a side-snip pliers and cut short the little feeler that would normally detect the hole in the film. On the 500 this disables the lock-out such that it can now wind and fire continuously.
I then use a reloaded busted-open cartridge as you show here. But I don’t use the backing paper. Just take a 36-exp roll, wind tight by hand and it fits perfectly in the well. No paper. Tape the film to the spool the same way the paper was. Black electrical tape over the back window of course. After every shot you have to wind and burn TWO frames with the lens covered, but it winds silky smooth.
    Voila!

Shit, I threw away like 20 of those things when my grandmother died, I thought they were no longer useful.

With all due respect, it will be just painful to do all this in the dark. Just give me a fitting FPP adapter, pls. 🙏🙏🙏...willing to buy

If I can do it, anyone can do it (but I understand). The FPP will be offering some 126 cartridge re-loads on January 26, 2024.
