    Just found this clip! I'm in the middle of a M38 restoration myself and I will follow you with great interrest. Since my project is very slow moving I've had a lot of time to read up on many details. Over time you realize that stuff you thought was original actually don't belong to the jeep. And things you think you should remove are original or official army modification.
    So as a note if you are not aware of it, the small patches at the upper rear corners of the tub at 4:50 are actually a official Army Modification Work Order (MWO ORD G740-W6) to be performed at next maintenance or repare. Doesn't look good but was done to all m38's in the US Army.
    Great to see you are doing it right and not cutting corners. Good luck!

      I got an M38 too, and I actually totally love the reinforcement patches at the rear, as far as i know they were necessary for the arctic top, it makes them M38s so unique 🙂Great Job!

    Wouldn’t it make sense to use a weld-through primer on all those laminated body panels?!?

    • @SFJ4x4
      @SFJ4x4  Před 2 měsíci

      It would but in my experience welding sheet metal, the welder doesn’t get hot enough to burn through the primer and it ends up burning a hole in the sheet metal. I’d rather weld everything first, clean up the welds, then primer.
