As an old guy growing up in the 70s, this is insane. we had trails threw the woods with jumps that we thought were cool. Wrong. I couldn't even imagine doing this on my old schwinn stingray with the 10 speed seat on! Or my huffy with the mag wheels. Don't know how I got to your channel but I'm now subscribed. These videos get my adrenaline going. Make me want to dust off my early 90s Iron Horse and just ride logging roads. Stay safe

Constant adrenaline and you just can’t help but laugh when you make it through. Don’t know if I’ll ever talk myself into the tech stuff you do but love watching and picking up on ways to improve.

@@ddangerousddave thanks for reply! As a lifetime skater new to this sport, I find myself preferring my feet to be in “regular” stance (level, with my left foot forward) before anything too crazy. Need to figure out the right gear and ratcheting/timing, I guess. And maybe there is some bunny hop or “pushing the bike forward” too? But you seem to go from nearly stopped to one to two bike lengths pretty fast…thanks again!

@@nunyabiznaz9593 @Nunya Biznaz Nice to see more newer riders getting into it! Foot placement is the name of the game for sure, gotta have that stable platform.
As far as his movements go, looks like he's using a "pedal kick" in certain spots. It's based on a trials move but little variations of it are used in all sorts of slower speed riding to pick up the nose or gap things. You combine a 1/4 pedal stroke with a forward lunge/hop. Kinda hard to describe but check it out, it's a great move to have.

You know you can't just climb up to 10,000 feet like that. I had to fight the trees the whole way up to the official trail from the old satellite dish. I got turned back twice by this tiny little rock face you barely see from the hill on the other side of the road, but it was the same kind of thing as on the south side where all of a sudden it got way too steep and looked like I'd be totalled out if I fell. So I did turn back on the other side over there for a few attempts before I found the path to South Boundary through the burn scar on La Vinateria. The trees fight back a lot and there was wildlife out there, too. Fortunately, it was a tree branch that gave me a bump on the head and not the bear cub. Then I got lost for a few miles and nobody went on that trail, so the snow was packed over two feet in places and I had to go on my hands and knees to get through it. I thought I was going to lose my light. The trail peters out about two miles from the T. You continue north up Capulin Canyon and that goes to Palo Encebado on one side and Capulin Peak on the other. You don't want to be looking for the trail at that point on the descent, or you're gonna get totalled out. I had to doubleback and go back through the thick snow patches and made it back down to the forest road, where I could see the road again without artificial light. There was another bear chewing on a tree. Moon came out when I got down to the road.

Anything filmed on my new Hero 10 is filmed in actual 4k which may explain things. Because I edit videos in a random order (I posted some 2020 footage recently :P), that might explain the confusion.
