    All that research and development and yet they still don’t give a shit about their current customer. The most requested thing from current aeroad owners is to be able to buy a different spec handlebar than the one that comes with it. Here i am with a stem that is to short for my long arms and i am stuck with it. For the love of god canyon, let the people have access to different spec handlebar for the cp0018 cockpit. The most frustrating thing is to see racing team having their own custom spec handlebar for them. Just make available for the public god damn it

    • @akajsg
      @akajsg Před měsícem +1

      It can't really be called new. It's just a fix for a failure in the last version. The only thing new is the flared handlebar and pace aerobar.
      Due to problems with the seatpost and headset design in their first version, they sold bikes for ten thousand euros that had metal bearings that were always exposed to rust. They want to erase the third generation. This is only a minor change, not the 4th generation, but they claim it is the 4th generation in order to bury the failure in history. Only the areas where most consumers suffered were improved. A creaky seatpost, a headset bearing structure that rusts very easily, and individual stem lengths that are uniform but not sold separately. These three things have only been improved, but it's the 4th generation? You should be ashamed of yourself. A German company that buries products that need to be recalled without taking action.

    Never buy a first generation bike, wait a year or two. Canyon dropped the ball with the 2020 model, the seatpost design was flawed and makes unbearable noise. I’ve contacted canyon at least 6 diff times complaining about it and they send me a “fix” which doesn’t fix it. So now I’m stuck with a $5000 bike that ticks and creaks no matter what I do. It’s so loud that I can hear it over my headphones, and I can feel the vibration through my handlebars. Canyon won’t take it back so I’m stuck with it which really left a bad taste in my mouth.

    The Shofter cable snapped on my mates Canyon Ultimate CF SL 8 (or 9 idk)
    Its a 200€ mechanics bill bc there is no access to the internal routing system and the otherwise fine bottom bracket will have to come out, which means it will have to be replaced and I think that was something pretty easy to avoid by simply modifying the internal routing system slightly.
    I think when Mechanics ask for a bike thwts easier to work on, they have a point.

    Flared drops for a road bike are fantastic! I run 36cm C-2-C, but recent bought a gravel bike and put on some 38s from Profile Design. Their bars do not flare at the hoods, so you still get the narrow hood position and flare out to 46cm at the drops on the 38s. That is fantastic for comfort, stability and huge leverage for sprinting. Thankfully, they also make a 36cm bar, which will be going on my road bike!

      @@stephenp1615 I would expect that because the CFR frames are made in Germany that the tolerances will be spot on. Most of the tolerance issues come from frames made in Asia, but the worst bike brand for tolerance issues are the American brand who started the trend in the first place.
      Having said that, LBS and team mechanics are divided on the subject based on personal experience and preferences, so have to be taken with a pinch of salt. It's the home mechanics who have a harder time with pressfit because the proper tools for the job are extremely expensive, and a standard workstand that clamps the seatpost is less than ideal for holding the bike - especially on posts with a teardrop profile.

    Thanks, GCN, for the New Canyon Aeroad presentation. I enjoyed watching it. I love the PACE bar concept. The missing part is the data supporting Canyon's claim: "Proven in the wind tunnel against its competitors and validated in real-world racing, it’s officially the fastest bike in the WorldTour." Alex mentioned that it was tested against the SL8, S5, and the previous Aeroad. Can we see the comparison data?

      @@ManfredvonHolstein Oh, I'm, with you! A brand new bike doesn't offer good value to me when I need to change out cranks for 160mm, stem, handlebars and seat as a minimum.
      What I've done for my last 2 bikes is wait patiently looking at the classifids. I picked up an Orbea Orca and spec'd it out with new and secondhand parts, again patiently waiting on items to drop in a sale, or eBay finds. Now it run with a new Ultegra mechnical/rim brake R8000 groupeset, Reynolds Black Label 65/80 wheels, Dura Ace cassete, Rotor Aldhu cranks, KMC SL DLC chain and carbon saddle. A 7kg Crit bike for £2000!
      My lastest project is a Cannondale Slate, which I managed to find new GRX810 front and rear derailleurs for £80!

    Well a brilliant looking bike and one that can give any type of rider the benefits that they need for the type of riding that they may be doing. I for one can’t necessarily afford the Canyon aeroad in any of its respective models and specifications, however I do like riding as hard and as fast as I possibly can on flat roads, or down some good local decents and the aeroad fits my riding style perfectly. If had all the money in the world would definitely buy one and for my friends for good measure
