So there’s a solid chance that we’ll only be getting two marvel series this year-secret invasion and Loki. and those will potentially be the two most important series of the year, with loki moving forward the multiverse saga, and secret invasion is going to completely rewrite the balance of power in the MCU, in a real wa, not in a the rock in the DCEU kind of way.
I think this show is going to pick up right where wakanda forever left off, and set up phase 5 for the thunderbolts and captain america new world order. In the same way that the winter soldier completely changed the fabric of the NCU, this show is going to change the status of superheroes on earth, and I’ll explain how a little later.
A little later I’m also going to talk about the history of secret invasion in the comics, and how the MCU is in a similar solace, and ready for a game changer. I’m very excited about this show, so let;s get into the breakdown.
So we begin with Nick Fury walking in the woods toward a chain link fence with barbed wire lining the top. There's also an empty guard station. Notice there’s also a radiation sign here, and the signs are blurry to me. They look like the standard western alphabet. If I had a guess, and that’s why I'm here, I would say that this is written in russian. Now later in the trailer we see a power plant that is overgrown with forest and abandoned.
This looks remarkably like modern-day chernobyl, after the disaster at that nuclear plant in the 1980s. So I’m guessing that this plant is either chernobyl, or another power planet that has been abandoned. It might also be in the UK, it’s hard to read this writing.
This also appears to be the forest that has Nick fury’s grave, and the crypt we see at the end of the trailer. So what better place to stash your gear after faking your earth? No one is going to come into a radiation zone to dig up a coffin.
Now in the comics, Chernobyl is also the site of a vampire kingdom, led by dracula. I doubt if they’re going to go into all that in this show, but Blade did go to Russia [clip] so hell, you never know, right?
Justa quick catch up on where Nick Fury is at thai point. Remember, he initially began his career by helping captain marvel stop a kree invasion, and then helping skrull refugees find a home in space. These skrulls were led by ben mendelsohn;s talos, and they were friendly and grateful to the people of earth. But in this show there is some other faction of skrulls that is trying to conquer earth.
Now, following the fall of shield, he faked his death and went on the run [tell them I’m here]. This isn;t the same grave we saw in this trailer by the way, but more on that later. So at some point between winter soldier and spider-man far from home, Talos took Fury's place, keeping an eye on the happenings on earth. ‘Ve speculated that Fury's appearance on Agents of Shield was the last time we saw human fury on earth, because he’s eating diagonal bread in Age of Ultron [cap marvel if toast…].
But really, he could have been in space with the skrulls for years, or for weeks when we see him on vacation.

If Ross is a Skrull, wouldn’t Shuri have noticed when she healed him in Black Panther? Also, both head stones have Col. but I like the idea of there being two of them.
Yeah, both headstones clearly say "Col. Nicolas J. Fury" and the headstone showed his highest military rank, Director of SHIELD wouldn't be included since it's not a military rank.
This was my first thought. They would have detected that he wasn't human, but he could be a scrull that fury knows about.
Switch could have happened after that like during the blip 🤷♂️

What if the Skrulls kept all the mutants on ice and replaced them as “normal humans?” That way the missing history of the X-Men and the mutants can be filled in. And all the history of the mutants pre 1990s could exist in the MCU.
What if Kingsley's character is actually Fury's son and the skrulls are using his face? Making it more personal for Nick
I like that they keep using Riddler’s meltdown whenever they think someone might die
it really honestly looks like Secret Invasion is going to be a big one for all of us, even if it’s on Disney+. They also did a great job for the tone of this, as I immediately got a surge of Winter Soldier vibes from this.

I think Thunderbolt Ross is definitely becoming Red Hulk & filling the Norman Osborn role as President for a Dark Reign MCU story.
They could possibly have the Thunderbolts/Dark Avengers clashing with the Avengers (starting with the Wakanda feud).
Val will probably be Ross’ partner in crime & they’ll run the DODC. This could be the new Civil War event until Kang forces everyone to get back on the same page.
I hope we get to see more of the agent of shield especially daisy/quake ,and agent coulson.
I really liked Chloe as Quake and would love to see her return.

I think Nick's eyes allow him to see whether or not someone is a skull. He only take it off around people he trusts to make sure that it's actually them.

I think Nick Fury gets Thor's cybernetic eye, the animal on the mausoleum drawer is a raccoon, and it definitely helps him detect Skrulls.

I'm kinda surprised you didn't pick up on Fury's facial hair as the key to timeline of events and not the wardrobe improvement. When he first gets back to earth, he has a full beard. Later, he cuts in a goatee instead.
Ross is not a Skrull. You are overlooking how he was shot in the back and then brought to Wakanda to be saved by Shuri. Wakanda's Tech would have been able to see if he was a Skrull when they removed the bullet from his spine. Valentina is the more likely to be a Skrull .

Perhaps Ross was targeted by the Skrulls because of the relationship he built with them in the first Black Panther. Val figured out her husband was a Skrull and filed for divorce, but has kept him close because the Leader wants to keep an eye on him. After the events of Black Panther two, he was fired because he had outlived his usefulness to the Leader.

Secret invasion and Loki saving the Mcu
I feel like there’s as much reach here as Peter trying to save Gwen but I’m here for it.
Wild theory: what is this is how they introduce the xmen. It seems like mutants have always existed in the mcu what if, the skrulls have been capturing them all to test and perfect their super skrull abilities. Which would make sense because the mutants x gene is embedded in their dna. Where as all the other mcu heros gained their powers from accidents or test. Since skrulls use dna to mimic they probably pick up the powers in mutant dna.
so exciting to see Fury shine in his own series ! Also looking forward to Loki S2
At least today, I am pretty sure that toward the end of the series, one of the good guys starts to have a bad idea. And contact the Kree. But that Fury stops this with his knowledge that a Kree adjacent ally whose power likely could be used to disrupt Skrull diguises and who might be back on Earth...Daisy Johnson. And also if Maria doesn't make it, the superheroes will need an Earthbound leader who doesn't have tremendous emotional baggage (if we stick with some canon that she has dealt with most of it, and just has a fragile sister to worry about).
That skull grab towards the end feels like a MVC nod.

Erik Voss already said that the nuclear plant isn't Chernobyl because of the smoke stacks. Chernobyl didn't have the smoke stacks built yet before the explosion. Also, the one in the trailer is in Ukraine not Russia.

That would be an awesome way to use Bucky, since he doesn’t really seem to have any role to play other than standing beside Steve/Sam. I would love for them to do that, but I doubt they would.

The Blip would have been the best time for Skrulls to infiltrate. They could just take on the appearance of people who were blipped and pretend they weren’t 🤷🏻♀️
Also, I think Everett Ross is in the clear, because when he was shot, Shuri treated him down to the genetic level, and I don’t think Skrulls can mimic people that far. It’s just cosmetic.
Canon says blood tests can't detect Skrulls, but not sure if that would cover the tech Shuri has. That might be how they hand wave it away though ...
@@s3cunit Despite that... Talos transforms back while he is dying. Ross was dying as well... so would have transformed into a skrull and Shuri would have noticed that and wouldn't have healed him (Unless Shuri is a skrull as well).

I think Shuri would’ve saw something in Ross’s blood or DNA when he was healed in Wakanda so I highly doubt he’s a skrull.. also he was Valentina’s husband before all of this as well

If someone is a skrull, it probably is Valentina.
Everett Ross could have been replaced after the events of and because of the events of black panther. Val could have discovered her husband was a skrull and divorced him because of that. Val then works with skrull Ross in the second Black Panther movie, to help him get into the country. Ross is the Skrull in Wakanda attempting to weaken it which is both Val and the Leader want. The Leader is behind the evil skrull invasion.

We already know when fury left earth and talos started posing as him mate, we were told a few years ago by the Russo's that Fury left Earth after Starks funeral, thats when Talos started posing as him
I think that Cull Obisidians hand is being used to help create superpowers in the Skrulls dna to make way for super skrulls without impersonating the heroes

I think Thor's bionic Eye from Rocket is in the Vault; which is why on the first promo stuff his eye looked Cybernetic. I think the Animal Signet is supposed to be a Raccoon (rabbit)-- If you notice in that scene he's wearing his eyepatch when he gets to the vault... Anyone? :)

Definitely thinking Thunderbolt Ross is being set up to be the Norman Osborn of the MCU's version of Secret Invasion. Like you said, with him in charge he'll be able to crackdown on superheroes like he's wanted since Civil War. Idk if they'll get Harrison Ford to show up at the end of the show, but it would be awesome to see Thunderbolt Ross come in at the last second and kill the evil Skrull leader, thus winning over the public's trust and allowing him to lay the groundwork for the MCU's version of Dark Reign

I think Rhodey would be the Secretary of Damage Control. In the Spider-Man movies Damage Control is referred to as a “Department” and in the US government agencies that are referred to as Departments and are headed by Secretaries. Defense, Homeland Security, or some other new Department would also work but with the Damage Control references in the trailer I feel like it’s going to play a larger role, would make sense to have Rhodey in charge of it
Kind of makes sense, remember in spiderman home coming, Stark also had some connection to damage control, think he funded it. So would also make sense for Rhodey to be connected. Stark and Rhodey were both on the side of the government In age of ultron and civil war.

Deep theory. The Trailer is a VFX misdirection. The scene with the Kremlin blowing up is actually a skrull, looking like fury. That’s why Maria Hill is following him. My guess is she sees and talks to him and he doesn't know who she is. That’s why there’s a close-up of him blowing himself up. This is why Nick Fury is the most wanted man on earth. I also think Ben Mendelsohn's scene is skrulls transforming into Nick Fury. They want to discredit him so he can't stop them. If I'm right, you heard it hear first.

I hope this series is good. I really do, Disney had my favorite things to watch: marvel and star wars and recently, minus a few key shows and movies, they have chosen to angle those franchise's into a nosedive, plummeting towards the earth and getting ever closer to a fiery explosion.
