- One last Dawn Wells video out of my system (until the next time....) This time mixing shots from "Gilligan's Island" and the "Dark Outpost" episode of "The Invaders" TV series of the 1960s. Set to Walter Wanderley's "Summer Samba" mainly because Mary Ann's last name was Summers..... ALL AUDIO AND VIDEO CONTENT OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL PRODUCERS. UPLOADED FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY.
An absolute sweetheart. a real doll. I have always loved her since the beginning of Gilligan's Island. What red blooded young man wouldn't want to be stranded on a tropical island with her.

Dawn Wells was such a beautiful woman 😍. She was great on Gilligan's Island and other shows and movies. I think that she was a gift to Hollywood. She will always be remembered. R.I.P Dawn Wells.

FREEZE-FRAME at 1:08! Look at those beautiful eyes and gorgeous face and hair! How many '60s starlets can match that look? Very few! That come-hither look at 0:39 is also terrific! Now, skip over to 1:50 with her walking in that sizzling hot dress, and made-up to the nines, which you rarely get to see her with full make-up on in G.I., and then a close-up at 1:52. This is the real Dawn Wells, if she was really in full dinner dress and make-up on, instead of as the usual Plain Jane she had to be as "Mary Ann." What an absolute dreamboat she was! A shame the writers did not let her have more moments like those few times with a hot dress and fully made-up as if she was going out on the town, or on a date, as they had Ginger look most of the time! She blows Ginger (Tina Louise) completely out of the water! Look here for her best showings on camera: stunning at 1:08, 1:34; and on Gilligan: 1:50-1:55, 2:27, and finally at 3:08-3:12:

Now that you mentioned it, there is a resemblance between Susanna Hoffs and Dawn Wells! I remember Susanna from The Bangles, and she was also hot stuff in the early '80s! "Manic Monday" and "She Knows What She Wants" were my two favorites. Susanna will be 60 on Jan. 19 (2019). If you can believe that age on her! On the wonderful "Manic Monday" video, I really loved Michael (nee birth name Susan Nancy Thomas; then Micki) Steele, who was then 27 in early-'83, their bassist, songwriter, and guitarist and singer; she is now 63.
My dream was to be married to this gorgeous woman! Damn she was perfect!

I have The Invaders on dvd, so I have seen this Dawn episode fairly recently, but until I've seen this vid I don't know how many times, something a bit odd happens. If you go to 0:28, look at Dawn's right hand. She keeps putting that hand against her butt, which if it were once or twice I would resume she were dusting herself off, but is she that unconvinced it worked that she keeps doing it? On camera, she does it four times, but as the camera cuts away, you can see she's in the middle of doing it a fifth time. Anybody have any idea?
BTW, Mary Ann doing the Ginger Grant routine in Gilligan's Island, showed that not only was she the better Mary Ann then Ginger, but she was the better Ginger than Ginger. Of course, when Ginger went all Mary Ann, she wasn't trying to imitate Mary Ann at all, other than to dress like her, so maybe she had potential there unrealized.
