I was one of the sideline kids, making it go Mach 5. 🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️ …. I was twice the size of most kids so I was always asked, even by parents lol. I had a dad say “just don’t kill him”….. he puked, but he lived 🤷🏼♂️🤣☠️
I remember when my sister and I were little, one of our older brothers would spin us on the merry go round so fast we’d be screaming, throwing up, and laughing all at the same time. Then when we stopped, we couldn’t walk. 😂🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Did that in the '80's with a dirt bike. Put it on it's side with the wheel against the merry go round. Several held the bike in place while everyone else got on and then someone revved the bike. I think the ride only lasted a few seconds. Memory after the "GO!" are a little fuzzy.
Ahhh yes, the Kid Flinger 5000, always surrounded by the broken bodies of those who went before us, and us waiting with anticipation knowing we will soon to join their ranks. Good Times!
Those playground animals, like a duck, turtle or horse, that were fastened into the ground with one huge spring? I lovvvved those. We'd all get on those &just slam back &forth on both sides of the dirt. We went flying bum over teakettle right over the top of the fiberglass/aluminum duck, horse or turtle we'd chosen to slam into the ground that day.
I performed self-propelled merry go-round...until i fell flat on my face and couldnt get up until everything i viewed stopped spinning. Ah, those were the days.
Not even going to deny it. My first reaction to the video was wanting to get on it. I loved merry-go- rounds. Nothing like a good demonstration of gravity and force, with a little primer in first aid thrown in for good measure.
Off subject. You guys remember playing ball in the street. Yelling "car". Or going to the store with your parents and passing at least 4 games being played? Im 57 and i don't see that anymore. Why.
ah yes , memories or lack of , my first experience with having stitches, was from one of those merry go death machines. my last memory was sliding off , waking up in the car on the way to the hospital. 15 stitches in the back of my head . back on ot a couple days later
I took my turn riding on it as well as spinning it ! I remember the monkey bars also called jungle gym climbing up it and jumping off backwards ! Until my friend which was a girl now this was in second grade ! We were racing each other from one piece of equipment to the other ! We got to the monkey bars started up her foot slipped hit her chin on the way down biting off the tip of her tongue ! The teacher took her to the school nurse with me following saying hey you might need this holding the tip of her tongue in my hand !
I experienced seeing many a young individual floating through the air, like a pinwheel flying as an offering to the sun god, after a few of us spun the merry-go-round faster than any designer of said playground toy ever dreamed possible.
we used to try to get it going fast and get each other to puke - the epitome of "winning" but without any malice attached, more like a contest. I wonder what parents of today would think about that! even the kids who ended up puking had fun or otherwise we all wouldn't keep showing up. back then, nobody drove you to the park/school, it was walk or usually ride your bike.
I remember as a 12 year old plugging a flex into the socket and using the exposed, live, ends to blow up stereo parts. If a millenial was told to do this they would faint.
If you didn't get slung off the merry-go-round, bounced off the seesaw, or launched off of sludes and swings far higher than anyone allows today, then you didn't have a childhood. Oh, and they were all made of metal, so in the summer, you cooked a layer or three of skin just getting on them in the first place. 😆
Remember the 10-12 ft high swings you'd jump off of when you were level with the top bar?
Still do that to this day 😂
Still just as fun
We use to race to the top, where the swing chains would loosen when you achieved the highest possible position....good Times 💯👍👍😎
Oh yeah jumping contest to see who can jump the farthest from a swing Oh yeah that was fun
How did I not break a leg, or an ankle, or my head?
Yes I injured my ankle and fingers a few times doing it lol

i pushed and jumped on :) we even had one without a bottom just the rails it gave me nightmares but i returned every day anyway
The body may not want it but I garuntee the brain said hold my beer
The mind is willing but the body is weak. #GenXProblems

My school had a huge 30 plus feet one, we found the way to spin and get on because we propelled that thing close to 30 miles an hour
Reminder for me to check on my husband to make sure no one was hurt today at work!🤦🏻♀️😂
That gives me an idea of what I'm doing this weekend 😂😂😂
Ahhhh , the good old days of being flung off that thing ❤

And yet, the child part of you is already considering the logistics and maybe adding padding for a good landing area... ;)

Yep, we yelled car too. They still do sometimes

I was one to ride the outside edge of the merry-go-round, hanging on to the bars while leaning outward. 🤣 What a rush!
The last time I rode one of those, we had it spinning so fast that for a split second we thought we had gone back in time! XD
I want to try that!
I would've been playing: _You Spin Me Round (Like a Record),_ while on that 😂

I did do that as a kid with a go kart in the 90’s

Boy did they screw up…you are supposed to put an extension on the center post and wrap it there above the handles.
So brilliant
It reminds me of that family guy episode where they do that 😂
Did anyone have one of those steel chaine may poles?
The things we figured out with that thing.
Due to many injuries, it was removed....finally
OMG that looks fun! Sign me up!
We never really grow up, we just get bigger toys.

Hell I was the one on the miracle-Round The wisest position was to sit in the middle that way you didn't fall off
Fun times growing up

Thank you for reminding me I'm kinda old
I remember even the parents would get involved and help spinning it lol they redid the entire playground I use to play in😔 rip good times🫡
That was Brilliant, it looked like so much fun, is it my turn next.
Attention all genz - let’s meet on the playground for a reunion.

❤❤
Got off one of those, and wobbled into a tree. Have the nick scar over my eyebrow as proof.
😂😂😂😂
Hey i may be 56 but my mind says I'm still 25...😅
This is why our generation is why we are better than the snowflake Millennials, Gen Z, and Gen Alpha. We are better, stronger, and we're proud of it.
Not better. Just feel sorry for the kids.
There was always a kid with a bus’ arm or on crutches… from some adventure. 😁🤘🏾
