  • raised the jack plate all the way up, and lost about 7 mph at wot
but it jumped on plane like a dream. It also felt it was loose out in back. don't have a water pressure gauge, but it seamed to have random moments of water not coming out of indicator.

I have same outboard on a Chaparral 162xl and I would like to install a jack plate. What kind of boat is that? Please let us know more about fuel consumption at cruise speed you have after instaling the jack plate.

Seems like with the propeller at a higher elevation there would be more air in the stream flowing past it. What is the benefit of having it higher?

Less drag in the water, equals more top speed.
