Power projection is Simon taking over CZcams with 50 different channels and uploading quality videos in multiple different topics.
You made my day sir!
Yes, too true
I’ve even seen unofficial advertisements using clips from his videos, so the power projection is outside of YT as well.
@@dr.python His PP is so strong, he penetrated the YT 4th wall.
😂
Tips to peacefully gain PP (Power projection):
- Keep longtime rivals: +5 per rival
- Embargo rivals: up to +10 per rival
- Insults rival: +5 or +10 for scornful insults
- Subsidize rival's enemies
Maintaining 50+ PP will grant a nation extra Administrative, Diplomatic and Military power.
😂😂
I see that eu4 reference.

"You're a king."
Thanks Simon, I needed that😁
"Also, you just royally screwed up everything."
Yeah, sounds bout right.
The argentinians learnt of this the hard way, when the british came to retake their islands from half a world away.
Did they though? Yeah they won but they struggled to get there. I could be mistaken so don’t jump down my throat but didn’t one of the carriers have to turn around after leaving port? Leaving air power relying on one carrier. It wasn’t a carrier carrying 50+ jets I think they held 12-20. Again could remembering this wrong but I think bucks had to turn around too but again I could have that wrong. What I was wondering is why they didn’t use bases in the us? Don’t get me wrong they went down there and did their thing but I never understood why we didn’t help with that.
I mean, in the end they were successful, and that's the point. Relatively few nations can carry out a military conflict on a different ocean. Even a shadow of its former self, the Royal Navy had enough redundancy to win a decisive victory. "Two is one, one is none"
"Their" .... Half a world away....."their"
@@wilddingo0The harsh reality of the world is that it doesn’t matter if you’re right.
Whose islands 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Other countries: “let’s burn the bridges”
Rome: “Let’s build more”
*Decebalus didn’t appreciate this move*
Roman engineer and willingness to build won them countless battles and sieges. turns out when your enemis can barely build towns and your army can build walls, forts and siege equipment on the fly within a couple week you can gain alot of flexibility
"To burn everyone else's"
The US has force projection capabilities of defending homeland and allies as well as fully operating two different theaters of war, there is not a single nation on earth able to even do part of this. China is trying but it's still way behind. Russia can't even properly enforce its will on a nation right on its doorstep. Iran uses lots of proxies because they severely lack any capabilities to deploy it's own forces for a sustained amount of time even in the region it claims is under its influence. All of our allies rely heavily on US military infrastructure to send their forces into coalition conflicts. They all have strictly defensive militaries if they even have one at all
Way behind? You can't surely believe that😂
@@Priapus212Yes, they are way behind. War is won by logistics networks. Your troops can’t fight if you can’t keep them supplied. The USA has bases and supply chains all around the world. The U.S. can refuel its aircraft in the air, anywhere in the world they are needed. No one else can do that. They are the only true blue water navy. The Chinese have no submarines comparable to Americas. Their ships are sitting ducks. Their hypersonics are actually modified ballistic missiles. Because they have a predictable trajectory, the Patriot missile systems in Ukraine have already proven that this can be shot down. The B2 stealth and b21 raider bombers can fly over any country and can’t be shot down.
No one is even close.
Trump will pull the US out of NATO. America First right? Then watch things happen lol
lol Pro american bot comment. Bot name, bot response i've seen a million times. America really trying to desperately keep up this "We can still win any war!" facade when nobody in the nation outside of the extremely indoctrinated or stupid soldiers want more war when our nation is falling apart internally
@@Priapus212 China doesn't ever have control of all the territory it claims. It literally cannot bring it's breakaway areas under it's governance. So yes, it's very far behind.
One quote comes to mind:
“International order is not an evolution; it is an imposition. It is the domination of one vision over others - in this case, the domination of liberal principles of economics, domestic politics, and international relations over other, nonliberal principles…

- Robert Kagan, The World America Made (2012)
and as america crumbles and it's foundations begins to wear away threatening to split the order it built on bodies and blood with a false smile and promises of freedom washes away like a oil slick down the river of time. thank god
Those things listed are exactly why it's called international order...
Otherwise it's just organised chaos.
It was absolutely an evolution in trade and global relationships.

I say there's nothing more entertaining than listening to whatever Simon has in store for us today.
I love this art of war series, I hope you put them all in a playlist soon!
On CZcams, Simon has the best power projection.
I learn more from watching you explain our world than I ever thought possible. It's so nice to have such a reliable, well-researched source of information that clarifies and explains things I learn elsewhere and put them into context better than reading it myself alone. Not to mention all the things I've learned from you that I would have never researched on my own. Thank you, very sincerely, for everything you do Simon! Cheers from Montana, USA!💯😎
Simon saying the word “ empire” is a power unto its self
Former British Colonist here and Simon saying 'Empire' with a standard accent is moving.
Simon has the greatest power projection on CZcams.
I am very glad you also enjoy deep diving into the art of war simon. I hope you have more art of war videos on the way, possibly a collaboration with the operations room for DEEEP dives into battle of what country or kingdom also used these tactics and how effective they were.
That intro….
Screw online courses! Give me Simon Whistler ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ 80’s books read like this!!!!!
There is this small country in the middle of East Africa called “Rwanda” I keep telling people that country is full of geniuses and military geniuses as well. The fact that they’ve been able to project their military forces all over Africa is nothing short of a miracle. Especially when just 30 years ago the country was completely destroyed.
Great country, we will be sending them a bunch of people this year.
Fantastic for everyone.
While I am aware of what happened 30 years ago in Rwanda and the fact the country is one of the most successful African countries I can't find any cases of military force projection aside from some operations against jihadists and the DRC which are nearby.
I heard that the reason they recovered so well is that afterwards everybody was essentially tired of murdering.
Everybody that had issues with everybody was basically dead.
Kind of like the purge lol
Amazing how many people don't understand this. I get it they don't like war blah blah none of us do but while they sit there complaining about it they're doing so safe from war.

You are a master Simon, every video a masterpiece. Thank you.
just woke up and warographics uploaded a vid this day will be my lucky day
As much as power projection is imprtant, not being affected by power projection is also important, this comes with good natural geographical protection + lucrative liquidity (resources) + securing trade (with alternative or neutral partners)
The countries that come in this club are
- India (natural naval protection)
- China (ample trading partners)
- Russia (enough resources)
- Canada (geographical isolation)
- Saudi Arabia (large support base & liquid assets)
It was a clear explanation and realistically narration about power projection . Thanks for sharing
Power projection means future survivability..
Good job as always mates. One thing I would clarify though is when you were describing the difference between hard and soft power, soft power is always the implied application of hard power. That's why it's soft. There is no soft power if there is no implied hard power.
France and the UK still have power projection capabilities. They both have base around the world and aircraft carrier.
And France's intervention in Mali was a success in term of power projection (in terms of result, it is an other story).
Simon : "A nation needs wealth to project power."

Simon, those are some NICE glasses you got there!!!
I'd like to wager no nation in the world practiced power projection like China, the Celestial Empire's vast tributary system, its silk road and incredibly efficient absolute state and large military meant it combined both soft and hard power to basically project power on each one of its neighbors for centuries
It's called a......Rapid Response Force. Usually an Amphibious force.
Simon, thank you for saying famine, rather than "food insecurity."
I would love to hear some words of the Vikings and their way of power projection, but still a great video 👍

Can we maybe get a video of the Sino-Indian War of 1962 and the repercussions thereof? This will also explain the rivalry of the two nations and their respective power projection against one another.
I think Mansa Musa should get a shout out in this video. Nothing says power projection like marching 60,000 slaves and soldiers dressed in the finest clothes and jewels 2,500 miles on your Hajj to Mecca just to give out so much wealth on the way that it cratered the value of gold for years along the route.
That wasn't a military conquest, he conquered no one and gained nothing but notoriety as a rich guy. Wealth projection, not power
@@mosherubin7338 I strongly disagree, mi amigo. Musa conquered his neighbors, 2 dozen or so city-states, to gain 5000+ slaves a year until he went on his Hajj. Maybe he didn't have any "epic" military campaigns but maybe his Hajj was such a flex he didn't have to field a massive army. Military might is just economic might applied to violence. He was able to project power in a unique way, what would you as a ruler in Medina or wherever think when this dude rolls through with an army of people giving out gold? 😂
I had a discussion with a friend a few decades ago about the sizes between the Roman and Mongolian empires. My friend asserted that Alexander's empire was larger while I stated that the Mongolian empire is bigger. Maybe I should send him a link to this video.
Honestly thought it was common knowledge that the Mongol empire was the 2nd biggest ever to Britain and it was the largest single territory with no sea in between territories.
It's honestly not a terrible ascension perk in a pinch. Pretty useful if you find yourself on the edge of serious war, but haven't had time to up your naval cap.
Why fighting for the first place when we can project the first place?
Ahhh, nice
This dude owns 100 channels at this point 😂. Impressive
"chaos" is the answer. the growing concern of damages and chaos is the direction all of humanity is going. when everyone gets the ability to shoot someone in the eye we have a world that figuring out who's to blame is hard to see and harder to get right!
Can you do a combind arms episode?
For those of you wondering why the US is so generous to Israel, think about how much money it takes to build and run an aircraft carrier that then must move to where you want it. They are amazing machines but having an ally as close as Israel is in one of the most volatile and economically pivotal locations on Earth is worth just an awful lot. The US has quite a lot of assets parked in Israel that are ready to go when someone in the region acts up.
This guy gets it!
You see the world is a dangerous place, the only way for anyone to be safe is to make everyone dangerous

The corporate version of power projection is subscription fees. Adobe charges my card $9.99/mo for probably 5 years now and I have no idea why. Even lost my chargebacks when I attempted to stop it a few years back.

Speaking of power projection, Simon should do one on military logistics.
The US cannot project power without its logistics system. One grunt with a gun takes 30 guys working behind the scene.
And I thought power projection was the kind of thing movie theaters did

I would also possibly differ on an occupation being considered soft power. An occupation results from hard power and I believe is just an after effect of hard power and wouldn't be considered soft power at all.

I think it’ll be a relatively short video. Most sources do agree that it more than likely was an accident.
There is an element of force projection regarding Ukraine as something of a proxy for NATO, at least post-invasion. NATO advisors did assist in warning Ukraine about Rissian movements prior to the first wave, aside from which setting aside advisors and training personnel to assist Ukraine indirectly on the warfront. I think that shipping will over arms and ammunition has assisted, albeit such an investment has always been limited to older vehicles and weapons that are deemed more or less unnecessary.
