Agreed. We feel they more historic realism to the game. German cant pile all units into one stack and march toward Moscow- or they will be encircled and destroyed. We are still fine tuning partisans, but their ability to disrupt Axis supply routes is impactful as well.
@CaptainG9318 I do very much like the supply in this game. Wondering if it only works in zoomed in theaters or can it work to the same level of success on a global map. I'm sure can be done with a few modifications
@HuntLikeDavid. I believe both GW36 & GW85 include lines of supply to varying degrees. Global/Strategic level games are going to operate differently than Theater/Operational levels or even at the Battle/Tactical level. I bought the Oil Wars Expansion for GW36 and we’ve houserules modified it for GW39 and Axis & Allies G40. I think I liked it more than my son did. I think there is even a Resouce Expansion for GW36. Not technically ‘supplies’ like in Barbarossa or the Invasion Italy games, but the resources provide strategic level buffs for manufacturing, unit production, etc.
Great recap!
The supply aspect and trying not to be encircled, certainly changes strategies outside of attack and destroy
