  • This tutorial will show you how to quickly setup 3 point lighting in Blender.
    I have been specialized in hard-surface stuff in the past 16 years of my career and have never done any stylized or anime character before. The character (Loudred Pokemon) I used in this tutorial was made when I followed Follygon's tutorial a couple months ago. Go check it out his channel if you are also interested in making stylized characters:

    7:40 You can press keys e.g. NUM3 and NUM4 to switch quickly between different render result slots.

    4:07 This is why you have the percentage field as well, so you can leave the resolution at the final setting and simply choose a smaller percentage for preliminary renders.

    i thought before...fill is for filling the overshadowed part and then rim placed always at the back of the model. and in this tutorial. you put fill light at behind of the model and before that i thought its a rim light. but i was wrong. it seems like rim to me and then im confused why you add another rim at the opposite side from fill. can you explain why?

  • @erickbrandongarciajimenez687

    This is my first time using Blender, could you tell me which blender window mode is this? It doesnt seem to have "layout" in mine

    • @CarolSung
      @CarolSung  Před 3 lety +2

      Do you mean I have 2 viewports? If so, you can customized viewports the way you want. Just hover the mouse to the corners when you see the mouse changed to a "cross"...hold down the mouse and drag out to add new view.

    My friends shaders affect light in Blender. I tried several shaders and between the default shaders like Difuse bsdf and principal bsdf it doesn't receive any light. And do you know how to set it up to receive light?

    • @CarolSung
      @CarolSung  Před 3 lety

      I just use principal badf...I dont have any issue.

  • @Soulsphere001
    @Soulsphere001 Před 2 lety

    One thing you didn't do in this video is explain what the various lights are used for in three point lighting. I took a Audio and Video course, which explained it a bit, though I think I forgot most of the reasoning behind why three point light seems to be pretty standard. The only thing I do recall is that the fill light, if I recall correctly, is used to keep the subject's back lite up so you don't get a dark area around them on their back (or something like that). That's especially important for green screening, because darker spots tend not to key out well. The ring light keeps shadows from forming on the side of the body where you don't want them, and I think it's use to create a bit of a shadow on the other side. I might be wrong, but that's what kinda recall.
