    Wow, so many Mustang memories. I spend a lot of time behind that dash, although I never got to drive it because I was 6 years old. Mom had a 1965 plain jane 6 cylinder and I remember sitting in the gas lines during the oil crisis of 1972. My grandfather, who was a WWII fighter pilot bought my grandmother a 67 fastback GT390, which she drove like a grandma, angering the local youth because they mutually agreed it was such a waste (although my grandfather would take it out on the Mass Turnpike late at night and drive it like a bat out of hell, or so the story goes). She didn't have it very long and a week after he sold the car one of those youths wrapped it around a tree :( My dad (parents were divorced) had a 1972 Mach I, which I remember he drove up the Mt. Washington auto road only to have the thing overheat like crazy. I think he had that for a couple of years but alas it made a poor daily driver and he traded it in on (of all things) a Toyota Corona. So many Mustang memories.

    I've owned and dailyed a 66 and a 68 both bone stock. The only time I ever had to drop it in neutral at a stop was when one of the rear drums started going out. The way that thing was struggling might be time for a tune up too. They're not fast cars by any means but you should no problem maintaining speed if tuned properly.

I was still in my teens and drove the car from NJ to Milwaukee wi, where I parked in front of a multi family home where my friends lived, went up the stairs and within 5 minutes heard somebody yelling, "whose mustang with the new jersey license plates better hurry they'll steal everything" . I ran downstairs, got to the car and saw they smashed the window and stole my stuff from inside the car. I sold it in Milwaukee and thought I found one just like it at mecum a few months ago which I would have bought but the bidding just went crazy. Hopefully will get the next one.

      Was the IS 350 based on the Falcon platform like the Mustangs were?

    RegularCars Yo, how do his windows roll up so easy? lol Mine take quite a bit of effort to roll up and down. Perhaps the windows need realigned?

      Clean and grease the regulators & the window tracks, also the more often you use them the easier the windows roll up & down.

    Tilly Masterson called; she wants her car back.
    Also, why is he tilting the gear forwards and backwards? Is it some sort of neutral?

    • @pony_drums
      @pony_drums Před 6 lety +7

      He kind of explained it in the video, but since the car has manual brakes, when the car is in D at a stop, you have to maintain a lot of pressure on the brake pedal to keep the car from moving. Putting it in neutral makes it easier to maintain enough brake pedal pressure to keep the car from moving.
