I was horrified of Karloff's monster as a kid. Now, I can see what a masterful acting performance he gave to this iconic role.
Very heartwarming scene that got extremely tragic.
It would’ve been great if it got funny…
“Wait. Where are you going? I was gonna make espresso!”
@@O-DogKubrick cigars.....don't inhale until the tip close
Boris Karloff is amazing
Boris nails the part, despite he hated the Monster learning to talk
I love the way he handled it, it’s just right, he doesn’t oversell the performance.
When the monster hit the cigar 🤣 he went from smiling to faded real quick, like that blind man has something else packed in there. 😆💀🤔
ikr lol, but their laughs are so cute
Every time the monster says "Good, Bad" it's like he's a child in this scene, I love it so much.
In the original novel, the embittered Monster boasted that he was morally superior than the men who demonized him, citing that he had no vices, and did not eat meat or drink wine. I'm pretty sure James Whale read that and went "Eff this shid! My monster's cool!"
It makes more sense if you think about it. The monster is supposed to be some poor soul who was brought into existence under terrible circumstances in an unfortunate form. They don't want to be morally superior in any way, they just want to be loved like all humans are.
Party Poopers. I was having so much fun watching old Frankie entertaining us.
Whale did not intend the relationship to be funny, but he made sure that these scenes included bits of humor. You know - two lonely people smoking cigars, drinking wine, having a good time just being friends.
Before you came, I was alone. It is bad to be alone. Yep.
It's not always bad to be alone
@@joannestealey4482I don't disagree with you my friend. It's nice to have some alone time. But a life time of isolation is a fate that no one deserves.
I love this scene. So well done.
I think the monster finally made a friend
I wish MovieClips could do some scenes from the later movies. There are barely any scenes on CZcams
The poor creature, he never deserved the hatred withered on him
Am so happy to have the 100 greatest horror classics collection wish the Bride of Frankenstein was the and Frankenstein the 1922 was the but i have Frankenstein i had to buy it separately just need the Bride of Frankenstein love the classics ohh yeah and the cabinet of Dr. Caligari Cesaree
Everything was fine until those two men showed up. The being didn’t ask to be brought into the world. And all he wanted was for people not to hate him.
Agreed. Nobody has ever asked for the burden of consciousness. But it is natural to desire love and acceptance.
@2:28 does anybody know the melody the blind man is playing, it’s actually quite intriguing
GoOooD
Karloff Magnificent.
Karloff is the one and only Frankenstein Monster ❤
Over time the monster would have eventually learned to speak. Wether just from being exposed to it like this, or being physically tutored to speak from someone
Good smoke !
You try !
2:57 When someone who rips off doors and chains stands up and growls at you, it might be in your best interest to leave that person alone. Buuut that's just my opinion.
Big mistake. The old man should have gave him a reefer instead of a cigarrette.
You gotta work him up to that.
If only this could have been the last scene in the picture and those two ignoramuses had never shown up to spoil the great friendship of the blind man and the monster. There could have been the two of them sitting there, one playing the violin, the other saying, "Good!" and then The End.
I understand my friend. But unfortunately horror movies seldom have happy endings.😢
Things were fine until those two *CLOWNS* showed up 😡
I share your anger my friend. The monster was peaceful by nature. He meant no harm until humanity shunned and hurt him.
John Carradine has one line here and by God he's going to give it all he's got!
Smoking is NOT good 😆
Unfortunately, this was during a time when people thought smoking was good. They were unaware of it's damaging effects.
@@brianwalters7855 yes, I know. But still need to remind those of our time period.
And man, I had completely forgot about this comment I had left!
I will say the 30's was one heck of a time for movies. So many great classics. I may have been born in 1996, but I absolutely love old films. Especially from this era.
@@brianwalters7855 I was born in 2000. I like these sort of movies, too
What's it gonna do, kill the Monster? He's already dead, what does he have to lose.
😄😄😄
Classic, good,we need more friends, enemies no good, classic music to good, smoking not good, wine good not to much😅😅😅🥰🥰🥰🥰🤣🤣🤣😱😱😱☠☠☠😈😈😈💀💀💀👿👿👿🌺🌺🌺💐💐💐🌷🌷🌷⚘

The writer of Frankenstein’s monster was Vegan she made the monster vegan to teach how we all should live , animals are good our friends , and we shouldn’t eat our friends , 🙏🕊🌱👍x
this movie had a bad story
The monster could represent today's MAGA Maniacs and Doctor Frankenstein would represent their creator, the Republican party. Fire would represent logic and reason. Those who blindly befriend them always pay dearly in the end.
Classic leftist projection. Want to upset the right, tell them a lie. What to upset the left, tell them the truth. It is leftists who reject logic and reason when reality doesn't fit their idea of how the world 'should' be. Nice try. And it's MAGA patriots, not maniacs. The patriots are always on the right. The subverters, traitors, and destroyers are going to be on the left. Nice try though.
Or you know, you could take it as face value and not taint everything with modern agendas that weren't relevant in the 30s.
