    Excellent tips & elegant solutions as compared to the grinding which I strongly disagree with doing. Great video & insights, thanks for sharing it with us.

    I'm liking your approach to this hobby and it's pitfalls and it's gains. So I've jumped on board and subbed thx for this channel.✌

      Would the angled rod ends help with this problem a little?

      Angled rod ends can help move the tierod away from the pumpkin for sure. I chose the ones that are angled the other way just so that it could lift it up higher too.

      Matthew Herring you should be able to. I think the whole axle assembly and steering components are the same.

    Check out where you suspension links are attached, I bet they are in the wrong spots. Look in the directions on how to assemble to fix this problem, I’ve seen more than 10 that were assembled wrong at the factory.

  • @YYCRCFabricationz
    @YYCRCFabricationz Před 5 lety

    There is 1 other option for the steering link which I used & that is to make a link from solid round stock, put in 2...2° bends @ center spaced 1" apart & then thread & reuse the stock links. It cost me $0.35 for the rod.
    I also put on a longer metal servo arm tho it's no neccessary to gain a heap more steering.
    Another wicked video, great job!

    Seems like they design some of these limitations in on purpose just to give us something to tinker with and feel good about, seen the same steering knuckle clearance issue, fixed by a similar mod on losi 1/24, 1/18, and other trucks. Now just build the same setup for the rear.

  • @rodgarcia6563
    @rodgarcia6563 Před 3 lety +1

    Changing the steering radius won't matter unless you change the axles to CV axles. Otherwise the axle housing on the hub will wear through the axle shaft and break the dog bone end off. The ultimate limiting factor is the spring /shock.

    Nice video. Did you have to trim the rc4wd rod ends down to make proper length?

    • @BudgetRC_Channel
      @BudgetRC_Channel  Před 6 lety

      Kenny Talsma yes, you do. That's why it's important to measure the total tie rod length before you take it apart. You need to trim the links down until your total length is the same.

    It will turn if you punch it. It won't steer when you need it most, when it's crawling.

    • @BudgetRC_Channel
      @BudgetRC_Channel  Před 6 lety

      RCs By A Dummy that's more of an issue from solid axles than this particular truck. The biggest issue here is the lack of steering angle. Even with all of these mods there still isn't enough steering to make me 100% happy, but it's a lot better.

  • @rc-antics2472
    @rc-antics2472 Před 5 lety +1

    Having to much steering angle binds and wear your axles and they will break avenchaly

    hi, how do you solve the problem of the tire slide on the shock absorber spring?

    • @BudgetRC_Channel

      Limit the steering or use wider wheel hexes to move the tires out a little.

      @@domenicogallipoli948 any generic 12mm hex will work. Ebay is full of them. Try a 5mm or 6mm width.

    • @BudgetRC_Channel
      @BudgetRC_Channel  Před 6 lety +1

      Matthew Herring the battery voltage shouldn't matter. The servo is powered through the ESC, which regulates the voltage to 6v.

      Jason Ketchum I'm looking forward to it. My mods have allowed for a lot of steering angle, but on the trails it still doesn't turn as tight as it should because the geometry is off. Correcting that geometry should help a lot.

    • @jasonketchum4052
      @jasonketchum4052 Před 6 lety +1

      I am hitting the trails this morning but looking at the geometry of this set up it looks like it won't have any issues but only time will tell.
