Not a technical expert on this but if it is possible, India could setup satellite jammers so that any surveillance telemetry from Coco islands to China via its satellites can be interrupted. Of course, offline mechanisms can't be ruled out.. but it at least cuts down the possibilities of real-time surveillance (which is a key to success in modern warfare)

Apart from Coco Island two other blunders-
1- Loosing out on land borders with Afganistan, thereby restricting our reach to Central Asia
2- Isolating North East geographically by restricting access to the nearest port, ie Chittagong port and giving birth to the chicken neck.
