      Coaching a national team is different from coaching a club where you literally work with the players daily.

      @@EaglesTrackerNG I understand your viewpoint, especially the point you made that the players are not available to the national team coach all the time unlike the coach of a club side. A national team coach should be well experienced and very good in man management.

    Personally, I feel Amunike should be given the opportunity to coach the Super Eagles. The arguments to the contrary are strong in the sense that he may not have the desired experience level. On the other hand, experience is subjective.
    We let go of Rohr and Peseiro, who have experience. Nigerians did not like their football philosophies. I personally feel these foreign coaches, with the exception of Westerhoff and Bonfrere, do not identify with the quality of Nigerian players and our competitive mentality. They will settle for less than optimum results because deep down, they don't think we have arrived.
    Coaching is not rocket science. A good athlete who is analytical and has been in a competitive league in Europe that has good leadership and interpersonal skills is capable of doing the job, especially if they have undergone training. Keshi did a good job. If there was VAR, we could have defeated France in the World Cup. We were robbed with bad calls and referee negligence. We competed well with one of the least star-studded Super Eagles teams. These foreign coaches don't seem to address basic shortcomings I see with our teams, male and female. We are poor with setpieces. If Osimhen was playing for Cameroon, he would have scored many aerial goals. Our crosses were poor. The balls were lobbed so high, the defense and keeper could easily defend them. Our players don't seem capable of timely decision-making with the ball. These are problems that successive foreign coaches have not addressed despite the huge sums of money we are paying. The fact that they play well in top clubs does not mean that they know it all. They still need to develop. I have listened to Amunike speak, and he makes a lot of sense. Many Nigerians think it's all about formation and player selection. South Africa outplayed us even though we defeated them. Their players displayed better fundamentals.
    Amunike did not only score crucial goals. He was named Africa player of the year in 1994. This is a massive accomplishment that speaks of character and dedication. I feel it's a travesty that players like Sia Sia, Oliseh, and Eguavon have been given the opportunity to coach the Super Eagles. Amunike is more accomplished than them. He is in the same tier as Yekini and Kanu when it comes to Nigerian football. He is not one of the political types, and in my opinion, it is a plus because he will focus on football. The fact that he didn't qualify the Flying Eagles to a tournament does not mean that he is not capable. One needs to investigate the circumstances. With Nigeria, there is always more than meets the eye.
    Amunike demonstrated something in the under 17 that sets him apart from even Keshi. He reads the game well. Anyway, May God's will be done.

    What has Pesiero had really did to be appointed. Also, Cisce, the coach of Senegal had not done great both as a player and coach before coaching Senegal but he is doing good job as a coach. NFF and Nigerians must put coach recruitment and sports development.

    • @EaglesTrackerNG
      @EaglesTrackerNG  Před 3 měsíci

      lol Peseiro had coached A LOT more jobs, and actually won some trophies. He also did not take breaks from coaching.
      Also, why compare with Senegal ? Will the NFF ever give a coach of the Super Eagles the 6 years Cisse needed to win something ? What works for others doesn’t necessarily work for nigeria.
      That doesn’t mean Amuneke cannot do well, but this particular point you made doesn’t hold weight

    I learnt the NFF is still nursing the feelings of bringing back paseiro, if this happens it will be a disaster for Nigeria. That we got to the final of the Nations cup is due to the sheer doggedness of our players wanting to win. The final exposed his coaching inadequacy. Amunike must be allowed to coach our Super Eagles, I strongly believe he will do well. NFF should give him all the necessary support if appointed and not try to dictate to him in their usual manner.

    • @EaglesTrackerNG
      @EaglesTrackerNG  Před 3 měsíci

      lol why hasn’t sheer doggedness got us to final since 2013 until now ? Peseiro played a key role whether you like it or not. Yes he got it wrong in the final, he’s not the first manager to get outcoached in a game. You can’t take away his contribution.

      If you like hire Pep Guardiola to coach Tanzania. They will never win the afcon with the quality of players that they have. So it is wrong for you to judge Amuneke on the basis of the performance of the Tanzanian national team who he helped to qualify for the afcon after many years of absence. He is definitely more qualified than Oliseh and Eguaveon who have both been given their own opportunities. So, why not Amuneke?

      He had been in temporary charge of the team in 2012, assistant for their U23 in 2013, coach of their U23 from 2013-2015. He never took a break from coaching.
      And it took him 6+ years after being appointed to win their AFCON title.

      @@EaglesTrackerNG i don’t think relying on outsiders to fix Nigerian football in particular is the way. The French, The Dutch, The Germans, The English & the Argentines use their own. No one knows your home problems like you would, it would take longer time for a foreigner to settle in. We have WCQ in less than 3 months. Sia Sia with the best cv isn’t available, plus we usually don’t like to give our own opportunities. Nigeria should also be exporting coaches at this point in time. Behind the scene interferences with coach’s job also is another thing that’s a huge setback for Nigerian coaches. I believe Amunike & the likes of Sia Sia are competent enough
