A very sentimental tune for me. Thanks!!
Love this version. Please make these weekly again they are so good!
@@cascadiauploader8130 89 is fantastic.. Brent was on 🔥.. The Dynamic Duo (Poppa and Brent shone so so very brightly and Bobby would literally signal Blimps overhead and attempt to fly on Estimated Prophets..).
This was my first show...

“A broken heart don’t feel so bad. You never had half of what you thought you had.” This song taught me a lot about love and heart break. The ideal of non attachment.
Man you ain't lying. Those lyrics fit perfectly in my life.

Hunter was a true lyrical genius.
If you step back and look at it, Row Jimmy is one of their deepest songs.
I love black Peter💝
@@danosullivan7239 Same. Black Peter, High Time, and Row Jimmy, especially ‘76-‘77 versions, leave me on the edge of my seat every time.
@@bookmedia67 ship of fools is also one of my favourite of their deep and emotional songs
It’s the song I picture Jerry and Brent playing in heaven 😊
I was there. My 17th birthday. What a trip. Long and strange.
I was 17 years old March 31,1973 when I was at my first Dead 💀 Concert Buffalo NY was 18 years old at Summer Jam Watkins Glen July 1973 second concert
I always loved watching Jerry and Brent interact on Row Jimmy and mirroring each other's lines.
Great chemistry.. That had to be so hard on Jerry when Brent passed.
Row Jimmy I one of my favorites. Seeing Jerry smile at the end is everything ❤
Oh Man seeing Jerry grinning and playing wolfie has made this day sparkle-Thanks
There is simply nothing better in life than a smiling Jerome John Garcia. Nothing.
Jerry's solo is absolutely beautiful. 😍🤩
Saw Jerry and Brent play together half a dozen times. They had a real brotherhood you could feel in the air. God bless em...all of em.
Soul brothers
Same here. 6 times, last being 5-6-90
The harmony between Jerry and Brett is absolutely next level here! So naturally in sync, it’s unbelievable and so organic.
This kind of shit ended with Brents passing. Jerry's fire went out😪
@@danosullivan7239 seems like it. I missed out on prime seventies Dead (84 I started) and once Brent was gone it just wasn't the same.
I love this version (well almost all of them). Jerry and Brent working together. And the joy on their faces.
“Rock your baby to and fro…… not to fast and not to slow.” Always cool to see “the Captain” layin it down.
"Get back home where you belong
And don't you run off no more."

This has to be my favorite row jimmy. Its soo deep but playful at the end. Rip jerbear and brent
Row Jimmy, Ripple, China Doll, all great songs to sing, like back in the days before recorded music, it's passed down by learning the lyrics and the music and singing along.
That interaction. Priceless.
My only regret in life is, not following more Grateful Dead tours back in the day. But extremely grateful for the 32 shows that brought me so much joy, bliss, light, amazement, and communal love. 🌹⚡
No regrets. Everything happens for a reason brother. 😊🎈
Ya, no regrets
@@danosullivan7239 Bill.. Right on. You're right bros, it's not a true regret. For the most part I just wish I would have went to more shows and did some things differently back then.. Looking back, I did do a lot for a guy my age and had some mind-blowing experiences. So I'm extremely grateful for the amazing life I've had so far. No regrets ⚡
Bro the music is still alive, Bobby with Dead and Co and The wolf bros and Phil shared Terripan Crossroads until he couldn't, but he's still going strong they are still growing our community
I strongly u go see Darkstar Orchestra anytime you can, they are committed, Stu Allen. Regrets are not what we hang on to. Kindness is our legacy

I would serve with Brent💝😊🎈
One of Jerry’s classic guitars. Beautiful to listen to and gorgeous to look at. Great memories.
Damn. Jerry and Brent... 1989. Damn.
Doug Irwin’s guitars are so beautiful. I’m partial to Tiger but Wolf was such a mainstay of the late 70’s sound it’s nice to see this beauty pulled out again
Was this a special occasion or did Jerry play Wolf often in 89?
Before Doug Irwin created the guitar after Tiger, called Rosebud, Jerry started dabbling with MIDI by modifying Wolf with a MIDI rig. Once Irwin completed Rosebud, Wolf was sadly retired.
@@AnvilOfTheGods Wolf was played 2-23-93 Oakland. Watch it on CZcams. Ornette Coleman played after drums/space. I was there.
@@jamatoneblue tiger broke, his back up
@@jamatoneblue Fall 89 is mostly Wolf. Jerry was getting into all the MIDI stuff and Wolf was the guitar they used to test it all out on. Once 1990 started he got Rosebud and that guitar was MIDI wired from the get go
definitely one of my fave Hunter/Garcia songs all time.
Was there and I grew up as a little kid playing at Shows from the '70's,'80's and '90's...this song always reminds me and my friends innocently running around and popping bubbles trying to stay on rhythm...everytime I hear this reminds me of my childhood...❤
Another of the many tunes that just lost a lot of oomph after Brent's passing. Row Jimmy is such a great one! Gonna get there, I don't know...
These are the days I followed them. Great times with great people. Cool to see Brent and Bobby step up to help Jerry with the lyrics. By the end Jerry is on point and smiling. The music is flawless, Brent really shines.
Beautiful song to boot!! Grazie for posting. Grate Weedend to all my fun loving Heads out there. As a dear friend always says!!! “Be kind 4 no reason. ✌️❤️🌹
Jerry looks like he's fillin' good.
This is Garcia’s favorite song to sing
me too. instantly turns into karaoke every time.
What an awesome row jimmy. Thanks! 🌷🐢
I just wish it was in 1080p, but this is gorgeous. Always loved the Dead during this time.
G_d what a gift this man and this band was to this world.
New Row Jimmy! These are the real hidden gems! Thanks for uploading! This is one of the more heartfelt tunes.
Simply just the best!!!
Full honest disclosure...
By 93 or 94 I had gotten so disenchanted with what I perceived as a "played out song"...
What I wouldn't give to experience another scorching live version like this one. Thank you Jerry ❤
Never fade away
Jerry flyin high here
Miss you
My name is Jimmy so when they play ed this I was always Dosed and lost love when young. Wow
I Love Jerry Playing Ole WOLFE
Thank you so much! Please bring these back to weekly!
How good is Jerry’s playing at that 2:20 mark? What a gift he had!
Jerry's playing in this one's fantastic, period - so is Brent's!
Transcendent radiant masterful ethereal
Man, what we lost. Phew.
And on Wolf at that!
I so remember and at times want to be there again. Thanks for the memories
Brent was so awesome 😎
I miss Jerry...
I always enjoy Jerry and the boys 1968 my birthday is on August 1st 1955 I usually have a pretty good party, joining Jerome's
What a difference a great instrument makes.
The instrument it's just a conduit to your heart and soul.....
I-15 I entered High School. Play guitar since I was 10. During High School I've owned numerous guitars my favorite was a 63 tele now at 65 I play a beat up 60 hollow-body Gibson. And it brings my soul right through it. Over the years I learned every song the Dead did typical 55 years old and now I can just play along checking out in about 2 years hope you meet Jerome upstairs none of it gets off spaceship earth
I was born August 1st 1955 I feel very fortunate
Remember when America was awesome and GIANTS like Jerome still wandered our land? America's not so great anymore. My apologies to all those who once fought for this country. You wasted your time and lives. It's over. Last one out turn off the lights. God bless Jerome.
The video availability has greatly enhanced my Grateful Dead experience!! That being said, A bill of LSD hasn’t hurt it either.....
*bit!!! Aww damn you can’t fix it anymore?? I was so proud of that comment that organically grew straight out of my very own consciousness now it will forever have that beautiful flaw!!
Prime late 80s Dead. Gone are the days.#Jerry&Brent
The Dozin at the Knick Row Jimmy was great
My favorite Row Jimmy !
on the road again
Easily one of my top 3 favorite Dead tubes. I love what my main man Brent brought to these later versions, even right up to his untimely death - the Row Jimmy from Dozin at the Knick is a top pick for me, the interplay between Brent and Jerry is a wonderful thing to behold. I of course love the beautiful late 70’s versions, but man, something about Brent 🤩🤩
My birth day before i was born lol
NICE!!!
Great Song ⚡
Echos from the psychedelic past. Roll on Colombian. Row Jimmy Row
Love some dead great harmony love electric guitar 🎸
🌅I don't know how I can say one song is favorite or another but okay this is on the top of the list 🌹🕊️💕💕🐇🌹
Love seeing wolf on a late 80s Jerry😍
So good
Jerry and Brent.
You sending the Wolf? ...Shiiit.. That's all you had to say!🌹✌️
Tiger was requiring of maintenance during this time to install the onboard midi that was introduced April 1989, thus Garcia turned to the Wolf in fall 89 during many shows
Poppa turning the 'Soul Knob' to 11.. I once asked a Martial Arts Master which Technique he liked most. He responded "The most challenging..". I always thought there was a subtle difficulty in Row Jimmy. Perhaps Jerry enjoyed this challenge??
It's definitely true that he must have like the phrasing built into the solo sections of this song. It has what could be considered a stilted 2 bar phrasing, which would actually be standard if not for the stop or accent on the 4th beat of the first bar. It could be counted or felt as 3/4, 1/4, 4/4 or just 4/4 with a accent on beat 4 of the first bar. It encourages, even coerces, the players to provide a space or a breath in the phrasing, and probably appealed to Jerry's love of contrast within a passage. It's also deceptively simple, actually.
@@jpwjr1199 Thanks Brother.. ill digest your explanation over time. I'll appreciate Row Jimmy even more now.. Thanks 😊
Fancy seeing Wolf here.....
That Jerry Brent love affair just so sweet. Brent's death pretty much ended the band for that.
A classic
the WOLF

Every mistake Jerry made was fun...
Thats what made him and the dead real!
if you make a mistake once it's a mistake...if you make it twice it's jazz ;)
@@djbt2718 wow that statement is wisdom. Never though of it that way . I never cared when vocals are flubbed because the playing was always sweet.
Row Jimmy. Deer Creek 1990. Check it out.
IWT. I think...
Whats crackling? The sound?
TYTYTY!
That's nice. I hate to be that guy but.... ff a few months. 3.14.90 Cap Center achieved full lift off
Also rewind a couple years to 11-7-1987 HJK Convention Center. The whole show is fire, I highly recommend. The row jimmy is a work of art. Do yourselve(s) a flavor I dare ya, check it out, let me know what ya think. Probably one of my favorite shows.
Shit man you sending the Wolf that's all you had to say man!
Let me be the one to formally acknowledge how cool & witty of a comment this is! One of the many awesome lines Samuel L. Jackson has in that movie lol
