    The tour/road manager seems like a really tough job they should definitely get paid more. They also put themselves at risk driving the idols around and all these crazy fans who run up to the vehicles and stuff. I wonder about the security guards sometimes, too. They have a scary and tough job at times. I notice that even when idols are in groups they have their own personal manager I always wondered why that was.
    I know each company also has their own resident choreographers, producers, etc. I would love to be a stylist or choreographer for a company or group although I’m sure it’s tough work.

    • @Lian_kun
      @Lian_kun Před 2 lety

      @kai_STAY They get paid around 28,700 USD which is pretty less as average salary of Korea is 48,000+ USD. And times are changing though there are big companies who have resident choreographers they're professionals who have been in the industry for long, they don't take in freshers. As I said the time is changing so now labels approach different crews and choreographers and ask them to make a choreo for a song they'll be sent and then the label at times take few parts from each team and make a choreo through that. The choreographers whose choreo gets picked are paid while the rest aren't so even if you did spend time on making a choreo you won't be paid if it ain't chosen.

    Do you know of any jobs that foreigners can do in the Korean entertainment industry?

    • @guilhermecaeirodemattos
      @guilhermecaeirodemattos Před 5 lety +260

      @xxjadexxomg I'm not her, but, theoretically, a foreigner can do anything, as long as he or she can speak the language and is capacitated for the job. The exception are the jobs where "name" or "brand" matters. In those cases, the language barrier can even be ignored, as we can frequently see when a company contracts a famous foreigner producer, choreographer, etc.

      For these things most companies usually go for a third party specialist, like approaching a person who is a professional and hire em as per contract for such things. Though some people with time do get permanent position and they're visual designers/directors who design the album arts, albums, logos tho these things at times is partly shared by graphic designers depending on the company.
      There's an article how introducing yourself as a fan of any idol would reduce your chances of getting into any entertainment label so it's better to not mention it as labels avoid taking in fans for various reasons.

    I actually want to do something along the line of a creative director, and writer. For example, HYBE usually produces a series of mvs, with all linked together to some backstories, theories, and references from literature novels that yet again gets deeper into a bunch of concepts like psychoanalysis, adolescence behaviours, chaos theories...etc .. I just want to be somewhere in the desk of people who read through such concepts, select the ideas, and put together to weave something as complex, and intriguing as HYBE does ✨. May I know what the hell I have to do to get there? I don't even know if clearly put forward on what I am looking forward to....

    So a lot of the things you were saying seems to be fitted with either huge companies such as SM and YG or just companies that are known to have issues with idols “debt”/ money like TS ent.
    I bring up SM and YG because these two companies have inside producers as well and don’t really give idols a say a lot when it comes to being creative with their music despite most of their idols wanting to be involved.
    Same with the choreography, then we have companies like TS ent who have issues with paying their idols barely anything and basically robbing their idols of their money. But then we have huge companies like again SM and YG that probably and most likely do have a financial/ accounting department with in their company to keep track of everything
    However there are also companies that don’t match these areas. Such as Cube and PLEDIS whom allow their artist the creative freedom while having a set producer. PLEDIS has bumzu but yet nuest members, woozi, yehana and Sungyeon do their own music. I’m not sure if Cube has a set producer tho.
    But cube is big enough to have a financial department. And PLEDIS is just starting expand and starting to hire ; they recently opened up a lot of positions up for hire.

    Regarding the companies, some questions I still have are related to how they manage intellectual property. In other words, if possible, I would like to know how do they usually split the income from intellectual property (songs, lyrics, videos, etc) among the participants (producers, lyricists, actors, singers, etc) and how do they deal with the risks of plagiarism and copyright infringement. As for this second matter, I know that some big companies (in general, in any kind of business), when it comes to intellectual property (mainly patents), they usually take it very serious and have specialized people doing intensive patent search before registering and launching anything in the market. How does it work for the entertainment industry in South Korea?

    Guys if you dont know what to do, go to a media school in university. Get a Media & communications studies aka mass comm degree. It teach you varieties of skill you need in this field. You will learn PR, Videography, and even management and planning for this job. Of you dont know at least you can get into marketing too or become a communication researcher

But for that, May be they kept a foreigner who knows well Korean because there's channel ( CZcams and Instagram and Twitter...etc.) and website are running globally.

    One of the advantage of having their own music production is that if they want their artist to record something on the spot then they just can call the group to visit to company to record. Just like TREASURE 13 of YG. They always went to the company then left after like several minutes.

    I know this video is from 4 years ago but I want to ask for your opinion. I want to be a road manager but like you said, it's hard and you don't get paid as well as a PR manager. I mean, I love helping people and I really want to be a road manager but maybe it doesn't worth it. What do you think I should do? Of course I may change my thought in years but I want to know if I should be learning for being a manager or not. Just to don't waste time in unnecessary things.

    • @user-el3up3jr8g
      @user-el3up3jr8g Před 3 lety +1

      Go to website of the company , like below music video ther are two websites , one is of group and one is of company , go to company website , go to 3 dots on upper side , and go in careers option , search for manager , and select th post , they will show you what they expect and work ethics and qualifications they need , if u have them u can apply and send ur documents . Some will select random profiles without looking at them to avoid partialoty of gender and nationality and looks ,once they select they will look the profile , if they like they will call for interview and u have to pass some rounds , if u fail in random selection or any other round they will again do random selection , they do this tell they get the one , without looking at profile during random selection . Once they get one , they will cancel all other applications that came as they don't see profile in random selection if they are not selected during that. And some will see ur profile and then call for interview . The random hiring has less chances of getting selected but it's to eliminate partiality by gender and nationality . U can know more about it in Google 😉 . If u get selected in random selection , u will be really lucky ❤️
