@@aSHTEBALA XVI gives the player rings that will automate or make certain gameplay elements more generous toward the player (e.g., stamping the dodge button input on screen when you are able to dodge an attack). These exist as an accessibility feature for players who would otherwise struggle or not want to engage with combat.
Some players do not realize they have these rings equipped, and there have been complaints about "easy" combat that then revealed the critic in question was using these accessibility features to make things as easy and simple as possible.

I played mostly with the rings, but my issue wasn't the ease of the battles. It's that, no matter if you're just hitting square or mashing a mix of buttons... It was still just never-ending button mashing with no real strategy to it.

...You know, I ship characters, but never in a million years would I have thought of ClivexGav 😂. I'm not sure how I feel about that one. I guess I just liked Jill with Clive too much to ship him around, lol.
Now, Joshua and Dion in a forbidden love triangle (given the fact that they're technically step-brotherd), yeah...I like that ship, a little 😅. Or Joshua and Theodore, if he could've met him before the incident where Theodore goes and chases the dragon. Not sure why not just Jote (or was it Yote?). Maybe because she came across as a little fanatical for Joshua (like all of the Undying) and that's not the grounds you want base a relationship off of.

I only did that at the beginning of the game and in Final Fantasy mode. Otherwise it didn't feel worth it anymore loot and exp wise
Let's face it. Most jrpg heroes are thieves and a psychopaths, raid every home, kill all things they can kill on the fields, and guess who control them.

Fun fact: Ultima means “the end”, “the last”, or just “final” and the word Mythos (which he calls Clive) mean “Fantasy” so if they merged like Ultima wanted they’d be a “Final Fantasy”. Also makes sense to why the last weapons are also called the Ultima in a square Enid game.
which kind of ironic because from what I remember Ultima doesn't accomplished its objective which is to end something something defending on what games so no "final" in this fantasy.

i am upset the part about the side quests didn’t mention that they range from “glorified uber eats drivers” to very important to character development and world building so you feel compelled to do all of them 😅

Conclusive side quests tend to be nice like Torgal, Gav, Jill, and Joshua, and Theodore then we have Dame Isabelle and L'ubor conclusion which looks like dora the explorer rejected plot.
@@beckt333 That one and Priceless, for obvious reasons. But while there is some inane fetch quest nonsense in there, a surprising amount of sidequests is just really, really good.

Honestly this is one of the most fair reviews of the game I've seen yet. I had a blast, and while I've got my own criticisms of the game (mostly focused around the shallow gearing system), I'm really bewildered by some of the pure hate the game has gotten for things that have been in every FF game since III.
but in the last few years, hate is the thing to do about everything... I don`t know why, but this the the law for some!
Well for some reason people just love to hate everything they can possibly hate. Doubly so if someone dares to like something that doesn't suit their tastes.
That on top of evergoing battles between old and new fans of FF starting from first few games - didn't help either.
But yeah... I am torn of gearing and macgic stuff. I feel like I would loved the game so much more if those systems were deeper, but at the same time I kinda can't imagine 16 with those. Maybe in the next action like FF we will see such improvments
What things has been criticized for that has been in FF since 3?
I think hate since 3 is kinda overblown, it's there but mostly can be categorize as loud minority

Just returned from FFXIV Fanfest and spoke with someone who won't sniff at 16 because there's no ATB system. Folks never argue whether the story and themes're true to FF...just the shiny UI and system.

I'd say they're pretty true to the game. I would have preferred a few more RPG elements but I'm just glad we have another 9/10 Final Fantasy game again. Don't worry though, in a few years when 17 comes out people will be too busy arguing about that one to dunk on 16 anymore.

I do think the battle system in ff7 remake is the best mix so far, but I loved FFXVI.
It feels like it's just a random generic action game they slapped the Final Fantasy name on, changed a few of the boss skins to be Final Fantasy-shaped, and called it a day.

Berserker Ring, Genji Glove, and spell accessories are all you need.
Only use cheat accessories for replays so you can get special rewards by beating bosses without taking damage. That said.....

Now one of my all-time favorite FF Characters. That introduction was beautiful, but the fight at the inn clenched it for me.
There is no beating FF-X's maniac laughter, that's the purest form of Final Fantasy.

Bruuuhhhh I'm literally crying! This is hilarious! It's so accurate. I personally love this game. The story, the characters, the designs, I think it's fantastic. And I liked that I could choose to either have fun and breeze through the story, or challenge myself into making complex combos, learning the moves of bad guys to properly dodge and earn the trophies in the arcade mode from the Arete Stone.
The kaiju fights are great

Facts! The actual couple is Gav and Clive 😂😂. Also Prince Dion is the overall best character in the game. Fleshed out so well with his limited screentime.

That's pretty much the title of every Final Fantasy.
And the music (as with FF14) is absolutely amazing thanks to Soken (seriously listen to FF14 boss themes and music scores it’s beautiful!)
I love Sokens ability to compose fantastic scores. He really knows how to weave in loads of leitmotifs too.
I'm actually lowkey mad the music didn't get mentioned, it's a great review besides that.

This game is a 9.5 out of ten for me. Absolutely incredible, bad ass, and just fun as hell in an epic way. The eikon fights are some of the most insane cinematic gaming experiences I have ever witnessed. Go buy it, play it, beat it. Worth every second.

I honestly really enjoyed this entry, to the point that it's up there competing with X and XIV for my favorite, which is saying something since X has the nostalgia factor and XIV has the MMO benefit. That said, I can absolutely get a lot of the complaints about certain aspects, particularly in the first third of the game where it's extremely slowly paced for a while. It's just that many of those complaints really don't bother me.
I think it's kind of the issue almost every FF game has, where none of the entries will be for everyone, but everyone can find their own favorites as a result. I mean, I personally don't really like VII much, but everyone loves it, and I've known quite a few people who love XII and XV despite them both being really bad by my standards.
