It's more like Mega Man Zero but also like Mega Man X. A little of both.
Man, if only CAPCOM actually gave us a new Mega Man game instead of just adding Mega Man themed avatar outfits in Street Fighter 6.

Why not an actual playable fighter instead of just a costume?
Its a very good game.
Plus it leans deeper into that superhero style way more than typical Megaman usually sorta kinda flirts with, but doesn't do much with (exception being Star Force and to some extent Battle Network) , which is always a plus to me personally

I still prefer Gravity Circuit. THAT is my kind of Mega Man like game.

A mega man X9 that we really needed.
This does look fun, though perhaps not as challenging as Gravity Circuit.
Gravity Circuit also feels a bit better to controll.
The main character kinda looks like Sonic the Hedgehog if he were a human.
Following the creator on social media, he's clearly a huge Sonic fan, so I'd be shocked if Sonic wasn't some kind of influence.

There was a human Sonic named Gear in the anime World War Blue.

honestly from what ive seen, this game seems closer in gameplay to the zero series than the x series but thats just me
