- Hope this helps anyone looking to install a ridetech kit on their 21-22 F150. This is the way I did it. There might be better ways but this worked for me. I added a few tips and pointers. Make sure you follow instructions for correct procedure and torque specs. 2022 F150 XLT 5.0 RWD V8 in a stone gray color. Reach out to me with any questions
Dope truck … ridetech always delivers ! Hope to see more of the truck in the future. 🤘
Thanks for this video. I been going around and around in my head on doing it myself. Every hurdle you had will save me time later. I’ll save my pennies and do it myself, and just pay for an alignment.
im thinking the same. howd it come out for you?
Very good video on the install. I use to make videos a while back on the charger I use to have. Just recently bought a 23 F150 5.0 that I will be doing a build on so it is good to see quality install videos out there
I just finished installing the rear portion of this kit on my 2wd 2018 rcsb. This vid was quite helpful. Sitting perfectly level at the moment with no vibes or noises. Now time to do the front and lower the rear a bit more 👍
Happy it was helpful ! Good luck
Your video was really helpful man, thanks
Great video. Just ordered same Ridetech kit for my 2021 RCSB. Black Friday sale saved 20%. 😅
Very nice truck, great precise job
Really good looking truck sir.
Clean stuff man 😍
awesome job , bad a** truck subscribed
Magnificent looking truck, you have a real gem, extremely hard to find. I have a 2019 5.0 2wd short wheelbase truck also (black). I'm almost 60, grew up with only regular cabs, short and long boxes. My previous truck (which I still drive twice a week) is also a swb 1997 f150 4.2. I was very surprised in pre-covid 2019 at how difficult these are to find. Bought my XL, 101A package, stock in February 2020, price was reduced to 29k as no one wanted it. My dealer traded the other dealer a Fusion as they didn't have another truck on the lot that cheap. I'm to old to do all the mods that your doing. I did do a few items. A Roush catback and a Ford Perf. 2 inch drop for the rear. Also found a fellow doing a chrome delete on his Lariat, so I picked up his grille, LED headlights/foglights, and his 20 inch rims for 2k.
Your truck is looking great. I'll subscribe to watch your progress
Appreciate the compliments! This is a long term keeper truck. Dream truck for me. Just ordered a Borla s type exhaust today. Eventually I’ll get wheels and tires. Maybe some platinum or tremor headlights down the road. Hope your trucks treat you right!
@@brokedownfixedup keep us updated , beautiful truck
A before and after pinion angle measurement would have been interesting to see but otherwise great job recording and explaining install!
Looks good👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
great video
Saw all was def the tool to cut those bolts on leaf springs. Would have done it in about 20 secs. Nice video!
That was definitely a Hold my beer moment
Thanks for posting this. I kept looking for videos on this kit and there wasn’t much out there. I’m planning on doing it on my 23 when it comes in.
Glad it’s helpful. That’s exactly why I made this video. Couldn’t find any ridetech stuff for the f150. So far it’s been great.
Amazing trucks just got my 2023 only mine is carbonized grey
Awesome vid, any updates for the ride quality? I have read that some have had pinion angle problems and bed shaking on similar drop kits. So far this one looks like the best bet.
The flip kit portion is an interesting design. It's different from the Maxtrac one I've installed or IHC's flip kit where you have a plate on the spring perch that U-bolts latch onto. The idea of a ¼" steel plate being the only thing keeping the rear axle together while under crazy stress still doesn't sit well with me. If I didn't have traction bars I would've ended up like a dude on the f150forums...the U-bolts just rolled right through the lips of those plates flattening them during a track pull. Scary stuff.
So thinking about weak points to Ridetech's approach using round U-bolts that go directly over the axle...I supposed the nuts themselves would be it. But I guess it's all moot if you have traction bars...keeping the axle straight putting minimal stress on the flip kit.
I guess it's just a rule of thumb then...you put any kind of flip kit on, you better have traction bars to keep everything in tact in case you put down some crazy torque...
So sweet.
Very helpful. I appreciate how you laid out the different shackles side by side and your filming and narration was very clear. You are a natural with only 10 subscribers! I've been saving my empties so I can afford a Ride Tech. A little bummed that there is a fitment issue with the plate and the shock bolt. I guess you felt you did not need the air bags or the anti-sway bar or traction bars they offer? I hope you do another follow up with your ride impressions after you've had it a while. I also bought the Maxtrac 1.25 shackle. Seems good quality but like you I am more of a fan of the rubber bushings so not sure if I will install. I'm curious if using the Maxtrac would actually raise the rear slightly since the axle is flipped?
Thanks for the feedback! The bolt fitment issue I believe is fixable. I just gotta slide the axle over a bit. I’m planning to do a follow up pretty soon. It’s been great. Well worth the money. The long max trax shackle will lower it another inch. If I put the really short shackle I showed, it should raise it about an inch.
@@brokedownfixedup You are welcome and thanks for the follow up reply. My buddy just put this same kit on his 22 and I'm ready to just order it. Any other mod plans?
@@Robert8455 I’m planning on a Borla s type exhaust and some RTR 20x9’s eventually.
Awesome video and thank you for this upload. Currently ready to put this kit in our 2023 scsb just like yours, but very confused on the rear shackles. I thought I wanted to use the provided adjustable ones, but use the highest holes to make her as low as possible, assuming it would be to low then? How did your pinion angle come out afterwards with this setup? That rear shackle has everything to do with the pinion angle for sure.
I chose to use the factory shackles because it was the ride height I was looking for and prefer to use factory parts as often as I can. I’d use the ridetech ones if I wanted a different ride height. I have not had any pinion angle issues
Thanks
Looks great !!! Btw what’s the brand of your tonneau cover ?
It’s a backflip X4s
5.0 all the way.👍
What kind of grease did you use for upper control arms ?
hello ! question where do you buy the clime control lower-trim???
Thank you for your answer
Is there a coil spring conversion from leaf springs available? Seems like it might be easier and better in the long run
Has that rear shackle been scrubbing ??😮
EDIT: Or was that just from you working on it?
Did you have any driveline vibrations?
I occasionally use my truck for hauling flooring, carpet , wood ect.... I see you said there was 3 1/2 inchs between th3 bumpstop now.. Any idea how much it squats with a load on it?
EDIT 2: As Im watching the entire video , you didnt have a jack under that lower comtrol arm when you took the upper ball joint loose?
Final Edit, lol
How much adjustment is on the front.. 2 -4 inch drop?
What is your measurements after the drop from ground to fender?
Awesome looking truck, what kind of bed cover are you using if you don’t mind me asking. Thanks in advance
Thanks! It’s made by bakflip. It’s the roll up X4s
Where could I get those bump stops at?
15:44 nice cut lmao
great video man beautiful truck i have a question if you ever wanted to haul something and lowering the truck would it affect the haul? since its low?
Since then Iv installed the rear helper bags. If you wanna haul stuff I’d add the bags. Easy install. Thanks for the view and compliment!
@@brokedownfixedup bet thank you so much looking forward for one of those🙏🏻
How much did that lower the truck is it under 6ft?
What size tire you running?
I'm curious why you kept the stock shackles when the RideTech has adjustment holes that basically line up with the factory shackle height? Wondering if I'm missing some benefit I'm not thinking of...
I prefer using factory parts if possible. If I didn’t like the ride height I’d use the ridetech shackles
Does it bottom out in the rear on large bumps? I have the IHC 3/5 drop on my 21 RCSB and it bottoms in the back. I actually installed Ridetech air bags on mine to help with the bottoming and so I can tow if I want to.
I have yet to bottom out. I have about 2 5/8” of travel from the bump stop to the rear axle. But I’m only lowered 4.25” so just take .75” of travel away if you’re on a 3/5. My adjustable fox shocks I’m sure help to not bottom out
@@brokedownfixedup I just went and measured mine and its a hair above 2" clearance from bumpstop to top of axle. I too have Fox shocks but they are not adjustable.
Where can i get those drop shackles
After driving it for 5 months, how would you describe the ride quality? Did you change the dampening settings at all since the install?
It rides great. Much better than stock. I did go up a few clicks on adjustment. I think 8 front and rear now. After a couple months I did get a creaking from the front leaf spring hangers. I went ahead and retorqued a bit higher than instructions suggest. No problems since then
Question on the maxtrac initial shackle drop- did you have to install a shim? Any vibes?
I did not notice any sort of vibration with the maxtrax. They’re advertised as 2” drop but it’s only 1.5”. I did not use a shim.
Hmmm thanks for reply
I just installed a set on 2022 f150 single cab and picked up a vibe between 20 and 30 mph
What size tires are those on the 18"'s? Def look smaller than stock. im thinking about doing the same
These were stock take offs from a 13th gen stx. I did go to a 20” shortly after this video
Pingle angle
I wonder about this as well, its one of the things never mentioned.
You said you got a 4.5-inch drop on the rear. If I only wanted about a 3.5-inch drop, I'd use the Ridetech shackles..?
Yes you’d use the ridetech shackles at their heights setting. Which would be the shortest hole on the shackle
I got this same kit and was wondering if you had any vibration in the rear afterwards?
No vibration. I did go rather mild with the lowering though. Iv heard crew cab guys do get some vibration here and there. Luckily nothing for me
What shackles should i use to dropping 5.5 rear ??? I have a belltech lower .
Just flip kit itself should do 6 inch.some kits include a 1inch lift shackle for a 5" drop
Hey, do you know what do you torque the rear shackles to?
I believe states 157lbs. Does seem a bit excessive as you can see the mounts start to bend in a bit.
Looks good.. but how does it ride.?
Rides nice. Much better than stock. I installed rear helper bags
@@brokedownfixedup appreciate the feedback. My nephew just got the fp700 package, he said the body roll was terrible!!
How does it ride ?? Did the ride quality change?
Rides a lot better than stock that’s for sure. It’s comfortable and sportier
@@brokedownfixedup hell yeah Thanks for the feedback
How long did it take to install?
Thanks
I’m curious as well
Any issues with creaks mine is making noise
The front hangers needed to be tightened down a bit tighter than what is recommended. That pretty much got rid of my creaks. Here and there I’ll get one but nothing annoying
How have you liked the ride quality?
So far it’s been great. It rides a lot better than stock that’s for sure. Nothing about the ride makes you think you’re in a lowered truck. Everything is very tight no knocking or rattles. Haven’t noticed any pinion angle vibrations.
@@brokedownfixedup
need some good kyb shocks on it
The kit he's using come with fox shocks which are some of the best on the market
No more RCSB XLT :(
Low payload
