pantera's version is nothing short of brilliant it shows the respect they had sabbath
You can really tell they respected Black Sabbath. You can even hear the influence in their original music. Idk if youve heard it but Pantera also did a cover of Black Sabbaths Electric Funeral. They cover Sabbaths songs perfectly to the point that they're almost better than the original. I wish they would've covered more Sabbath.
Yep Pantera didn't change a note & did it perfect justice 🕇🤘🕇
Let's not forget you can also clearly hear the genius that was Dimebag and his brother (drummers never get any respect)
Actually both are from another world it's like pantera are the sabbath's children !
Such an underrated song. Both versions are killer... one trippy and muddy, one clean and bright.
The difference is at the quality of the music studios they used back in 60s vs today's digital technology. Both songs are equally great though.
Pantera version > Black Sabbath
Geezer wrote the lyrics and it is about floating around the Universe with your lover.
It's about aliens traveling the universe in a caravan , picking up life on each planet to take them to a perfect place but they bypass earth because were always at war and killing one another .
@@Nolnocnaes i think it was the alternative lyrics version
Sean Conlon Ozzy wrote the lyrics for a demo version but they were replaced by these ones
@@Nolnocnaes Talking Bollocks mate , Here the true story, BTW took me 30secs to find it czcams.com/video/zoQga3hMkyc/video.html
Our solar system is the planet caravan traveling the universe.
Yes one my fave Sabbath songs...i feel like I am floating in space
I totally agreeeee!!!
fairies ware boots
Rat Salad
Planet Caravan just brings back memories. This song always moved me very deeply. It just makes you think about your place in the universe. It has such a smooth groove to it.
Pantera really nailed that cover and made it so clean and full
as good as the OG is, I honestly think the cover is better. I don't even like Pantera that much.
@@SouthernCross_ its the modern production. They played it note for note. I promise Pantera wouldn't say their version is better.
@@chrisricciardi3812 Tony Iommi himself said that Pantera's version is better.
The pantera version sounds almost like an exact copy. So what the hell was the point of there cover version.
If you do a cover at least sound a little different sorry pantera just basically did a cover version of Sabbaths at least do something different only difference was the modern production
Do the same with:
Hole in the Sky - Black Sabbath/Pantera
Electric Funeral - Black Sabbath/Pantera
Yeah!
@No One
Isn't this what i said?
@No One
Oh right. Thank you
There are a a ton of good Sabbath covers they could do this with. There are two "Nativity in Black" cover albums that have some of pretty great stuff on them. #blacksabbath
@No One So many good tracks on there!
Wow! Did not know it was a cover all this time. Need to listen to more Sabbath I think.
So happy to see someone take a true interest in the roots. I think if you read more liner notes and song credits you will find yourself very surprised
I will always prefer the original Black Sabbath version, it's one of my favorite songs of theirs. But the Pantera cover is still special to me because the Far Beyond Driven tour was my first major concert (they toured with White Zombie, a killer lineup). When Planet Caravan came on they turned down all the stage lights except one giant green pot leaf spotlight. It was epic.
Kel closed her eyes and drifted away with the song. 🥰 Rich's face was winched in pain as his perception of what he thought Black Sabbath was all about was completely blown. 🤣 He obviously wasn't paying attention to the dynamic change ups in many of their songs that burst with soothing rhythms, in songs like Supernaut and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Laguna Sunrise and Solitude are 2 more of their famed masterpieces with a different pace.
Solitude is one of my favourite songs man. After listening to a lot of heavy stuff, one replay of Solitude fills me with such contentedness
You can really hear the jazz influence in this song. Have loved it since I first heard it in the late 70's.
I like you too looking at each other expecting something like War Pigs or Warning. It's just another dimension and sound to the legends.
I had a trippy experience to this song...when I was 16 y/o (mid-80s) I was in the hospital to have my appendix removed and the day after the surgery my friends came up to see me...one of my friends made a mix tape for me and later that night, the nurse came in, gave me a shot of demerol, I put the mix tape in, put on my Walkman (remember those?) and the first song was Us and Them by Pink Floyd...then Planet Caravan and I was peaking from the demerol when the song started, it was hitting me hard and this caused me to go into a trippy state of being and I imaged that I was traveling the astral planes, passing by planets and soaring along the milky way...it was just incredible, something I always remember when I hear this song.
I love this song and both versions. Sabbath were amazing and the diversity of their music over the years is incredible. Keep it up guys. It's a great journey.
#IcedEarth Watching Over Me.
We miss you Dime & Vinny 🤘🏽🖤 You’re jammin with Peter and the rest of the fallen 🤘🏽
Before Black Sabbath it was only good old Rock & Roll
After Black Sabbath pure Metal 🤟🎸 👹🤟
Black Sabbath the father's of Heavy Metal 🤟😎🤟
I was looking for a comment about Sabbath as "the first" metal band... I believe they were. Basically there are two schools, those who say Sabbath were the first and those who say Zeppelin were the first.
Every great metal band has covered Black Sabbath for a reason and more so than Zeppelin. Sabbath is the real first metal band.
@Chris Paul one could argue that The Beatles had the original elements of heavy metal in their 1968 track "Helter Skelter."
SUBCSIED! You both remind me of my wife and I. We were together for 33yrs and also childhood friends (she was 6yrs) but she passed 3yrs ago at 46. Your musical interactions made me smile. Thank you.
Yet another great song from Black Sabbath. My all time favorite of bands. Pantera does a very respectable job of the cover. Thanks for the reaction !
Mind if I just curl up in your adjacent laps and go to sleep? I love _Planet Caravan,_ but I cannot stay awake listening to it. It's too relaxing, and sublime, and other-worldly. It always makes me want to just drift off and dream of the imagery. :)
Now, if you want utter insanity in your dreams, doze off while listening to the radio drama series of _The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy._
Great song choice guys! Black Sabbath did not do "heavy metal" just for the sake of doing metal. Rather they created music that might have been heavy, or it might have been laid back and mellow, like Planet Caravan. But their music was always great. Love your channel, love your reactions.
Sabbaths best version end of, don't even dare argue about it , fact.
Black Sabath , Solitude is next jewel.
Hole in the Sky....yesss
It's one of those tunes that you put on late at night and chill.🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘✌✌✌✌✌💣💣💣💣💣
That's one of those songs that make you just want to close your eyes and chill. It is so soothing, and it doesn't matter which version it is. I can't argue against the original, but I also love the tones of Pantera. A rare occasion when I can argue for both as being the best.
I see you guys quickly got into the groove of it and closed your eyes and took a flight on the Mighty Sabbath
Tony overdubbed flute on this. His brief stint with Jethro Tull must of rubbed a little Ian inspired flute work
This is definitely a vibe. Always loved this song.
One of my all-time favorite songs by black Sabbath.
Thank you for your channel I enjoy watching you guys if I ever get down that way ....shout out from New Mexico
Other Sabbath songs like this are Zeitgeist and Solitude.
Animals, I love that record!
I wondered what Augustin was on about then I saw. Yes a great album. Have you heard the alternative version of solitude?
Features Rick Wakeman of Yes on keyboards. Wakeman is friends with the band.
The track shows Tony Iommi is not only a great riff master but a great jazzguitarist as well.
So beautiful guitar tone as well
Wikipedia states it was the studio engineer?
I listened to Panteras Planet Caravan on Sirius XM Ozzy's Boneyard and after that song brought me to your video. Really a song that most people over look but it felt amazing opening up history.
#BlackSabbath. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Next Please
That's an awesome song.
You perfect couple made me feel like I was hearing this for the first time, great reaction!!!
I must admit, you two are adorable.
Very happy to have been a part of the many who requested these 2, back to back. Ya said it best Rich brodog, it's the same song but soo very different. Add to the fact that I'm hearing it on Happy 420 Day, this was excellent timing! Def one of the fav reactions from you two! \m/
I do look on Black Sabbath as the first heavy metal band, there are precursors but in Black Sabbath everything was there.
Sabbath was the creators
When it comes to mellow songs by Black Sabbath, I consider #BlackSabbath Fluff their
best song of this type.
NEIL, I'm glad you have these guys to go to. You are feeling and said what I did a while back. Peace from Australia mate \m/
It's a beautiful song.. so relaxing.
Black Sabbath all life, the peculiarity of this song is the voice of Ozzy filtered with the rotating Leslie speaker. Pantera did the cover without grasping the atmosphere
Great fckn song. Pantera is one of My favorites, but Sabbath is the standard. Ozzy killed this.
I’ll never forgot one time I saw Pantera play Planet Caravan Live. They all just sat around the stage puffing a bone and chilling to the cover of the mighty sabbath! I miss this band so much. Great reaction to both versions you guys.
...and on the eighth day, God created Black Sabbath! Black Sabbath was the first and most Heavy Metal band of all time!Tony Iommi lost two fingertips on his job before they came out with their first album and his boss told him not to give up on playing guitar! Tony improvised here and there and was able to play but, that is why his guitar work sounds the way that it does! A small sacrifice to make it as big as he did in the music industry!
When I heard this for the first time (when it was new) my reaction was, "This is Black Sabbath!? NO WAY!" Like, holy shit, talk about different! Bill Ward said, "it's great to hear when you're stoned." He was SO right!
#Kansas Song for America. Rich, saw in an earlier video your're a Kansas fan. Kel would love Song for America...
Make sure it's the long album version. This is such a great song that doesn't get it's due justice. This song shows why Kansas was such a big influence on Dream Theater.
One of best fucking songs around the universe
You can hear the influence of this on Tool and Perfect Circle as well as plenty of other bands that were kids totally just blown away not expecting something like this from the Sabbath they knew.
You both are so nice symphatic people! I wish you the very best!
This song is so soothing.
PanterA always managed to make every cover they did, their own. Especially Black Sabbath covers - they all ended up being better, which is not an easy task. They respected and were such fans of Sabbath that they executed it perfectly every time. Their cover of Electric Funeral is also killer.
Idk this is my favorite Pantera song & cover but idk if they outdid poison idea on “the badge”. Both great
#Queen Stone Cold Crazy - live at Rainbow
#Metallica Stone Cold Crazy studio version
Daytona Beach
Rest Easy, Brother Dime 🤘😖
Wat an amazing song. Viewed by 2 amazing human beings. You guys give me hope for mankind. Love an respect from the biggest sabbath fan you will ever know.
Hidden gem
Whine of my all favourite tunes is Time in mine. It’s an Absolute beast.
Reminds me of the film Broken Flowers...
I heard Ozzie was singing through the blades of a metal fan as it spun to get a otherworldly sound.
They were the first, the creator's of heavy music. No other band till Sabbath had the dark, doom, and heavy sound
Love both versions! So serene, and puts me in a good place!
For perspective, the Black Sabbath version was nestled in between Paranoid and Iron Man. I might also suggest Black Sabbath's sort of "sequel" to this song that they put out in recent years. #BlackSabbath - Zeitgeist. It's another very chill song off their album, Thirteen.
Love listening with you two, rock on!
#toni iomi/Phil anselmo #time is mine #nacogdoches Tx. Amazing song, black sabbath vibe with toni and Phil's vocals. Epic!
Dimebag's unbelievable solo just pushes the Pantera version over the top for me. I love both versions though.
#blacksabbath #biohazard After Forever if you ever want to do it again with a Sabbath tune. You two do a great job, your authenticity is refreshing. Thank you.
You probably mean Solitude, because After Forever is a rocker
Love you guys.
If ur not droping some tears so u don't get the feeling and u r not living in that atmosphere !
I love you two f-ing nerds
One of two Sabbath covers that I feel were better than the original. The other being Faith No More's rendition of "War Pigs".
Nothing's beats original war pigs. That's impossible it's one of the greatest songs ever made
Nice! Such a great song! Cool reaction guys!
Small correction. They WERE the first. Everything before them was Hard Rock. Many use the term heavy metal too widely.
Sweet leaf would be cool to check out!
Black Sabbath is nothing else than love!♥️♥️♥️
Children of the grave Black Sabbath . childhoo's end Pink Folyd. Saludos from México .
Interesting comparison. Not sure I had listened to the Pantera version before. Liked it though, very well done.
#theywerethefirst love both versions Black Sabbath were the first to be called Heavy Metal so they are also called grandfathers of Heavy Metal ... music before that used overdrive on Guitars...different from Metal uses distortion
About 95 and humid in Minnesota as I watch this :)
#blacksabbath am I going insane and the wizard
Two great and memorable classic Ozzy tunes.
#BlackSabbath - Solitude (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada) - I will keep requesting this song until you do it! If you liked the vibe of Planet Caravan, they you'll likely LOVE the groove (and lyrics) of Solitude! It's not quite as space-trippy, but just a beautiful composition!
For me, the B.S. version of Caravan will always be tops - they just nailed the spacey, mystical, trippy vibe to a 'T'. Don't get me wrong, Pantera version was excellent, but there was a level of emotion missing - tough to replicate or capture from the original. This piece was one of the first that I heard that revolutionized my opinion of Sabbath. I loved them before as Metal gods, but this showcased their diversity. Same album as Paranoid, War Pigs & Iron Man, some raucous metal, then something soft, sensual & 'baked' (cause you know they were when they wrote/recorded this!) Great video, as always! And to the reaction from a subscriber, I love your dynamic. Your love of music and love for each other shines, and indeed is a welcome balm to a sometimes harsh, brutal world - you bring us back to the beautiful things - great songs, and two lovely (& loving) people!! Cheers!
I think you got the feel for the song. This is a great song. It's even a better song........."ON WEED"
😂😂😂
Phil always loved to have a sludge band, but pantera were bright, and so was Phil on this track. For a heavy band that obeyed no rules, they somehow made this messy little ditty shine bright.
#BlackSabbath. Solutude or She's Gone or BOTH!!!!!
Church Of The Cosmic Skull, Evil In Your Eyes. Watch the official video. It was a vibe similar to this. They are a new band from the UK . Cross between Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath and the Manson family! You guys will dig em fo sho!
Both versions are great
Pantera put that song on the map
imagine Black Sabbath making music with today's technology
Hag Pesah Sameah, Love your channel, great Idea. I was wondering if you can do the same with Beatles or Queen songs?
These guys rule.
If you guys liked this, you should do Zeitgeist by Sabbath.
Liked purely on the song choices and the duration of the video.
I'm from England and can confirm this is 1970s England
Keep in mind folks, we are all currently traveling the universe. For real.
Kel + Rich, Your guys reactions are awesome ALSO I'm freezing My ass off here in New Zealand, its a cold night here too.
Guys you say you can pick which one is better but just based on your reaction we already know you guys think the Pantera cover is better!
I prefer Pantera's version but I heard that one first and heard it more times. Use OBS Rich, it's free and it cuts out any downloading and editing, it will save you a lot of time and you can livestream if you want to
pantera did a great cover of this track.
If you think Dreamer/Deceiver is different for Judas Priest. Listen to the last two songs on Sad Wings of Destiny. “Epitaph” and “Isla d of Domination” talk about contrasting songs. The latter being one of my favorites.
Check out Meglamania by Sabbath. You might like it also. Very trippy. Nice change of pace.
I Love it
You should do some Tony Martin or Ian Gillan or Glenn Hughes BS ;o
