What did you use to make the new roll up cover in the end? What was the black material you used? Thanks.

That new cover has very little insulating property. You should have dried out the old insulation panels, wrap them in plastic, and seal everything.

The R value of the rubber mat is actually higher than the syrofoam. It has worked surprisingly well

Why not just use Tyvek to wrap the core?

That was the original plan but my leather cover was destroyed. Had to go a different route making a replacement.
