For reference, what are the model's body measurements and jacket size in the video?
I mostly like my Merlin jacket with a few notes of caution. I have no issues with arm length on regular fit clothing. The sleeve length on the Merlin is short by about 3/4 to an inch when in the riding position on a naked bike...not an aggressive position by any means. Compared to other high quality jackets, the arm position of the Merlin is noticeably "arms at your side" versus Vanson or Dianese where the arms are rotated forward to accommodate the riding position.
I noticed in the video that the rider shown also has his wrist ulnar bone fully exposed as the camera pans to show their hand on the grip.
Don't get me wrong, it's well made, but the construction is somewhat short-sighted in this respect. My preference is to wear it more as a casual jacket without the armor.

What size are you wearing in the video? I also have a 38-inch chest and 6 ft tall, not sure if I should pick the S or the M.
Your idea of 'improved fit' seems to be too tight, especially under the arms. If it had a slightly looser cut, especially where I mention, it would be a good purchase, although the waterproofing won't keep you dry as the rain will get in underneath at the waist. NJ
