Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that. Especially when it comes to whom they think is the better *Joker*. . .
In the last 50 years or so, we've all gotten a taste on different actors who were able to take on this immersive role. Caesar Romero, Mark Hamil, Heath Ledger *(RIP)* and now Jared Leto. The styles of shows and movies warranted different style Jokers. So unlike most, I will not say who is the best Joker. Each Show/Movie had its own style to work with. Therefore, there's no reason to compare because of the differences in each setting. . .
In my opinion, there is no definitive "BEST" or "BETTER" Joker because every actor has portrayed this Iconic Villain to their own extent. That to me is admirable. With the few times we've seen this character come to life, from one actor to the next has been captivating in its own right. It is very apparent that it can psychologically take you to a dark place. Case in point *Heath Ledger*. Jack Nicholson, who played our favorite *Clown Prince of Crime*, has even gone on record that it took him years to get over the psychosis of what the character left him with. Unfortunately, Ledger was not so lucky. . .
I for one am grateful that the character is even making a comeback (Like the person who commented before I said) despite the scarce revolving around it. I don't care who plays The Joker. Jared Leto is a brilliant Method Actor and has been known to take on roles where he can transform himself to new hights. I have too much respect for Leto and the actors before him in taking on (once again) this immersive role. . .

I wish everyone thought like that. The Joker is such a creative character(messed up but still creative)that there is no definitive joker. if that makes sense. the joker is automatically insane. But its up to the director, the actor, and the movies plot that determine how insane the joker has to be. If humor NEEDS to be involved, and how to make the entirety of the movie look. Each actor put there own spin on this beloved villain which is good. I don't want the same joker. which is why i didnt compare Leto with Ledger. I didn't compare Ledger to Nicholson either. I just wanted to see the joker portrayed differently but have the same amount of power and creativity behind his character. i haven't been let down once, and I'm loving Leto as the joker
The Joker is easily the most adaptable character to play. We saw Nicholson's Joker (mobster) Ledger's Joker (anarchist) and now Leto's Joker, who I feel is going to be both combined, only this time with Harley Quinn in the movie. I'm so excited to see it

Heath wasn't very good. He was Tom Waits with makeup and prosthetics. He wasn't even written to be The Joker. He was the OCD Riddler with Asperger's. Get over Heath. He was nothing like the Joker from the comics. The only good Joker, pre-Leto, has been Mark Hamill.

Who wants a carbon copy of Mark Hamill? He's unique in his own way and right. I never understood this mentality of trying to compare different versions of the Joker. Yeah, I understand if you prefer Mark (personally I do myself), but it's not fair competition for someone whose dedicated their life to this character, 20+ years, versus a guy whose only doing the role for one movie.
I think it depends on what you think is 'right'. Each actor does it differently and the audience decides which one they individually prefer.
While I am upvoting you because Mark will ALWAYS be the king of the Joker voice and no one can top him, this laugh is amazing. You have to keep in mind that every movie joker is written and acted on purpose to be different. Jack's was supposed to be a gang leader that was probably most similar to the comic/cartoon Joker we all love, Heath's was supposed to be a realistic but over-the-top anarchist and Leto's is supposed to be a psychopathic murderer. His laugh in this trailer really shows that, he is lost in hid own psychotic mind of murderous bliss.

Personal Opinion: Just looking at Leto Joker, he looks alot like comic book/animated Jokers with the slick hair and no brows thing. Also, there's been many versions of the joker in different comics and there's definitely been some really dark ones so I'm loving how absolutely insane Leto's joker looks. no a lot of people who saw the prescreenings say he has more screen time than heath ledger did in the dark knight. (only by like 2 mins though)

When I was a boy, I use to read all the comics in the DC Universe all the time and the Marvel Universe as well! I was really happy when they started to make these comic books stories into movies years ago as it continues until today! Unfortunately and sadly I must say, I am now a deaf man.. but I haven't always been a deaf man you see! I was born with a horrible disease called Mineres and after battling with it for 25 years, it finally took my hearing from me..i was devastated but ever since then, I've been holding onto the fact that maybe one day, our world will be like the DC and Marvel because if it was, then I wouldn't be deaf no more because their worlds have magic.. I will go see this movie in a theater that has CC and I will hold my head up high and smile watching it because..well..I wanna feel normal again..

I'm going to be diplomatic and say that both Ledger and Leto will be better than each other in different categories.
Leto's performance will MOST PROBABLY be better than Ledger's going from the trailers. His laugh is also better than Ledger's.
Ledger's Joker look is multiple times better than Leto's Joker look, although Leto's looks more creepy(if you remove the bling) . Hobo hair over bling any day. Ledger's joker will also be more memorable than Leto's Joker MOSTLY because of the excellent dialogues and the many quotable lines that TDK had thanks to the Nolan's. Sadly I don't see Suicide Squad having any smart or memorable lines.
"Why So Serious?!" over "...gonna hurt you really really bad" anyday.
But then again both movies are totally different in tone...so the dialogues suit the movies they were from.
are stupid???? What laugh from leto? did you for get the memorable laughs from ledger when bale punched him? or when bale threw him off the building and caught him with his grapple gun? This movie looks like a joke now thanks to the garbage soundtrack by queen and cheesy lines by the whole cast. Ledger is still above leto and will remain so.

One in the car, one while shooting the gun, one while lying on the floor, one in the chemical vat, and one more who's scene is not shown in the trailers.
Ledger's laugh was nothing really special IMHO. It was good, but Leto's is clearly more creepy and sadistic.

Diablos Archos neither was ledger's...I'm saying in comparison to ledgers, it's mor creepy. Overall Nicholson's laugh was the creepiest but his laugh was pretty plain IMHO..
