I can understand why people are saying this game works best for couples (I've heard this said in numerous places), but I think it's a disservice to the game to imply it's for couples only. I can easily see myself playing this with some of my good friends! Yes, I couldn't play this with just anyone, and of course I'll be playing it with my boyfriend. But, I know that certain friends of mine who have a good sense of humor, and can get into storytelling/role playing, will have no problem playing this with me and will have a great time doing so! Thanks for this video! I've been doing a lot of research on this game since it piqued my interest a bit ago, so it was great to see you two would be giving your opinions on the game. I backed this game on Kickstarter and I'm really looking forward to getting my copy (which I think comes with what will be the expansions for the retail copies). I've watched a few other reviews of Fog of Love recently, but even though they all said it was a fantastic game I was concerned about how big a part the role playing would be as that isn't something I've ever done. Your play-through showed me that it could be funny and that the role playing aspect is more guided than something I'll be expected to come up with on my own. I'm now confident again, after waiting so long for it to arrive, that this is a game that my partner and I will enjoy.

I agree with SU&SD, personally, it does seem like a potential mine field for some. People know themselves and their triggers, and probably some couples would get a real kick out of this while others know they're better off sticking to role playing wizards and elves! :D
I also totally enjoyed their review but I think in this case their assessment of the target audience is wrong, or better say, incomplete. Couples can have a blast out of this, as long as they are into role-playing. It is objectively very difficult for many couples to totally detach from their inner dynamics in order to play a game that is all about impersonating other people with very defined and specific traits, which 99,9% of the time won't match your personality. I wouldn't necessarily say that this game is played best by people who aren't a couple, or even that it could be dangerous for their relationship. But the couple who is willing to purchase this must be sure that they can detach from their own personality when interacting with their special others, otherwise the game won't work, or at least it won't be fun.

It struck me when you two spent the first 30 minutes (I'm typing this 30 minutes into watching) talking essentially about how incompatible you are. It struck me that I wonder if the rules say ... or if it would be reasonable to add ... a brief moment after all personal characteristics hit the table, where the players discuss WHY it is that these two characters would be in a relationship. There is supposed to be something that draws you together, yes? Something deeper than ... I like his wobbly arms ....? :)
On their webpage - "In Europe*, Canada** and Australia***; ask your local board game store and reserve a copy. Limited number of copies will be available soon." :) I sent my husband to our local game store last week to pre-order it as a Christmas gift. :D According to their webpage it should be in Europe now and is available in Canada mid-December. All that said, I'm super excited to play this game. :D
Hope so too! :D If he was smart he went to the game store on his lunch break (his office is a 5m walk away) and pre-ordered it for me for Christmas. LOL He sent me a text that day asking about what brushes I liked to use for my minis and avoided the Fog of Love question soooo...I'm hoping he's just a good liar. :p

Anthony's Con couldn't be further from the truth "Couple's Only"; it's a role playing game? Why can't two random people role play the characters in this game? Almost everyone I have seen playing this game are just casual players and they seem to be loving the game. In fact a couple of reviews actually advise not to play it with your partner. Watch the Shut Up and Sit Down review for this game, I feel like they have a much better grasp on who should be playing this game. I'm not saying you shouldn't play it with your partner but I don't think one way of playing this game outshines another and all I can say is I hope your partner understands that its just a game otherwise I could see fights erupting if one player is playing their character unbecoming of themselves.

Personally I thought the SUSD review was extremely flawed for being a straight-up sausage fest!
